Illustrator :: Any Way To Easily Create Text Tables In CS5?
Nov 26, 2012I am trying to create calendar pages in CS5 and am wondering if there is an easy way to create 7 x 5 block text tables.

View 5 Repliesi regularly have to print out colours for sublimating fabric, and use illustrator to create a panel of blends to print out.
I put four colours in the corners, make an 18 step blend or the top two, then the bottom two, expand them then ungroup them, and then change the blend options to 8 steps and blend them vertically one by one.
all in all it's several minutes work, but i thought i could change the values of the four corners, and then use actions to blend the grid.
initially it stopped and told me ungroup was unavailable, so i created smaller steps, but still can't get it to work.
is this possible, or do i carry on manually crating grids? or is there another way?
I'm working with a couple Illustrator stock patterns. I'd like to simply invert them so they're white instead of black. Any way to do this without actually editing the pattern itself? The one I'm working on is too complex to edit effectively...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been tying to figure out how I could easily embed multiple linked images easily. I have some 1000 .svg images which have about 1-7 .tif images linked in to them. I now need to get those links embedded and becouse of the amount of images I'm hoping to make an action out of it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to hatch a complex image with a single pattern, but with different stroke weights.
Here I added an image of a simple greyscale image with below the hatching that I'm trying to make. In short: I want to use only 45 deg. hatches in this direction. However, based on the grey value, I'd like the hatches to have different weights.
However, since this image is quite simple, only four different weights were needed. However, I'd like to know if there is an easy way to do this for complex images. For this image I just used pattern fills with different stroke weights, but I'd like a smoother and easier solution, preferably one where it would be possible to have many different weights without having to split up the image in thirty different parts and making thirty different pattern fills.
I'm not sure if this is possible, but I might be overlooking something. If it would be possible with a plugin, I'd like to know too. Even if there might be a workaround via Photoshop, and the end-result would not be a perfect vector, It'd be fine.
I have set up a 20x20 pixel grid and I want to easily try out a few mockup layouts. No matter what I try, Illustrator simply does not snap to grid. I have to zoom in really close to align each shape.
Surprisingly it does not snap to guides either, leaving me completely hopeless. I have snap to pixel on and all objects are set to align to pixel grid.
How can I easily find a character if its attribute is different from others? There might be some easier way than compare it one by one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am struggling with creating and maintaining Tables in a DTP project for a client. I am using Photo & Graphic Design 6, though I'd upgrade to 7 if it would solve my Tables problems.
I have created a table of organized text in Word, and then copied it. I pasted it into Xara, choosing EMF as the only one that really looked like what I created. And now I cannot work with it as a table! Nor can I find anything that easily creates a table for me in Xara. Creating and formatting tables seems to be a very basic kind of feature necessary for DTP. Have I missed something?
I have gone too far into this project using Xara, so I must finish it using Xara and not another product now.
I need to be able to have it move from page to page inline, not as an image, but as a table, when I insert new client text before the table. I also need to resize it without resizing the text. Did I make a mistake using Xara for a DTP project? Or maybe I just missed seeing how to handle Tables properly?
Say I had a group of windows in one layer. A wall in a layer beneath and a giant flock of birds in the layer below that. How would I be able to make the birds visible in the windows while keeping the flock easily editable? CLipping masks seem to only work well with single objects.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of engineering data, dimensions, etc, to enter into an existing IDCS6 Table. I need whole numbers to display full size, but fractions to be small size. I know I can use Open Type and select the Fractions option for each individual fraction, but that would take forever.
How do I create a style (or whatever) that will allow me to just type in the numbers and have them automatically apply small formatting to the fraction portion of the number whenever it sees a "/"?
Along a similar line, I was trying to copy table data from a PDF document from Acrobat X Pro and paste that into an IDCS6 table, so each cell is populated by the appropriate cell data from the PDF file, but didn't have any success. That would really save me a lot of time, because I have many complete tables in PDF format. The data is not protected in the PDF, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to bring it over to IDCS6.
On a Mac, OSX 10.8.5.
Occasionally the text is upside down in tables (mirrored, not 180 degrees). This seems to mostly happen after I copy another table and edit the information. The mirrored text actually is hidden until you double click the cell to edit it. Now, after playing around with one of these cases I can't even select the text at all, it is completely hidden and I can't type anything in the cell.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLong ago, everything was done in Imperial and now we are converting to Metric, the issue is that the drawings we have no schedule of members and we (a colleague and I) are constantly discovering new members, this is causing no end of trouble with our numbering system.
What we would like to do is set up a master-table with 5 categories (UB, UC, PFC, EA and UA) and then have the labels for all the members dependent on this table. If we were to change the value in the table, the label would automatically update. Is this at all possible? I looked into the Xref and RText commands and they seem close but not quite there. Ideally the table would be in a separate dwg so we can work on drawings at the same time.
We are moving to a new drafting standard which uses .STB plots rather than .CTB. I'm wondering if there is any way of changing the layer of the text within the cells. I want the title to be at a certain thickness, the headers to be a different thickness, and the data to be a different thickness again when plotting. This is easy to do when using .CTB plot styles, but is there a way to do it when using .STB?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere doesnt seem to be a way to control the lineweight of text in a table. I have changed the color of the text and I have applied a lineweight to the table but the text is way too light. I spent a bunch of time putting info into tables and it looks like total crap and I cant seem to change it. What is up with this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know, if I select Vertical Text (ctrl+.) then I can write wertical text. But the text is writting Up to Down.
I want write vertical text Down to Up. How?
Consider the following
(if (ssget "_X" '((0 . "ACAD_TABLE")(1 . "PIPE LIST")))(progn (vlax-for a (setq ss (vla-get-ActiveSelectionSet (vla-get-ActiveDocument (vlax-get-acad-object)))) (repeat (setq r (vla-get-rows a))(setq r (1- r) c -1)(repeat (vla-get-columns a)
(if (eq "*PL*" (vlax-invoke a 'GetText r (setq c (1+ c)))) (vlax-invoke a 'SetText r c "THREAD ONE END"))))) (vla-delete ss)));progn);if
Basically, it replaces this text inside a table:
1 1/2" NPTM - A53 - 3000LB - A-53 - 3000 LB
with:
thread both ends.
But I'm limited to the size of pipe, it's material and its pressure rating. I can't change how the text in the field is populated. It would be nice if, it did a search for NPTM, and when that string exists in the string, change it to "thread both ends".
Essentially right now, I have 46 lines (and growing) of different scenarios. I just want the NPTM to trigger the string change.
Any good tutorial for drawing tables in 2 points perspective?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've cut and "paste special" a table from excel to autocad, and would like to edit several (not all) cell's text color from the default (in this case white) to the bylayer color.
When I set up my table style I specified the text to be bylayer, however apparently a paste from excel ignores the setting.
I decided to use Data Link Tables for my Excel sheet instead of OLELinks. The appearance is far sharper, and I am also pleased there is no background color transfered. What IS the problem is when I update the table, its goes from 12" Wide by 12" Tall table @ 7/16" Text W/O borders back to 3" Wide by 10" Tall with varying text size to fit and gains back all borders except diagonals (of which none are present on the Excel file).
So, any way to default the format when I refresh so that it holds each cell at the 6"X1" dimensions with no border.
With that, If there is a way to have a stencil for making the range links with Excel, that would be useful. I use the exact same 4 or 6 ranges (2 formats) in every dwg.
I am using CS4 on windows. I have followed all of the sugestions on this site (this is the exact effect that I am seeking!) and for the life of me none of it works.[URL] I've worked in one layer, have tried a layer for the color box and another for the text, I have tried grouping the text box with the color box as well. I figure there is a step in the inital layout that I am missing, but I'm not sure.

I would like the shape to look like an enlarged outline of the text, I have done this by creating outlines of the text, clicking on off-set path which has created my desired effect.
I would then like to cut out my original text from this off-set path using the pathfinder tool but it does not let me do this.
This is the desired effect that I would like.
