I have been tying to figure out how I could easily embed multiple linked images easily. I have some 1000 .svg images which have about 1-7 .tif images linked in to them. I now need to get those links embedded and becouse of the amount of images I'm hoping to make an action out of it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn Inkscape, you can select multiple objects by simply using the Selecttool and putting a box around the objects. I unwittingly did the samething in Gimp. I chose the Select tool (R) and selected several images inone column. I thought, that I would see all the boxed-in layers selectedfor easy duplication, but nope.
So how can I quickly/easily select a box-full of layers at once, a laInkscape?

Previously I used Autocad 2009 MEC and there wasn't this problem.
I shall fix this because, when I load a dwg to our company management system, the pdf or images shall be embed to the dwg file.
If I load the pdf as OLE Object, it doesn't lock the view and the pdf zoom canghe with the dwg zoom, so it is acceptable.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to hatch a complex image with a single pattern, but with different stroke weights.
Here I added an image of a simple greyscale image with below the hatching that I'm trying to make. In short: I want to use only 45 deg. hatches in this direction. However, based on the grey value, I'd like the hatches to have different weights.
However, since this image is quite simple, only four different weights were needed. However, I'd like to know if there is an easy way to do this for complex images. For this image I just used pattern fills with different stroke weights, but I'd like a smoother and easier solution, preferably one where it would be possible to have many different weights without having to split up the image in thirty different parts and making thirty different pattern fills.
I'm not sure if this is possible, but I might be overlooking something. If it would be possible with a plugin, I'd like to know too. Even if there might be a workaround via Photoshop, and the end-result would not be a perfect vector, It'd be fine.
I have set up a 20x20 pixel grid and I want to easily try out a few mockup layouts. No matter what I try, Illustrator simply does not snap to grid. I have to zoom in really close to align each shape.
Surprisingly it does not snap to guides either, leaving me completely hopeless. I have snap to pixel on and all objects are set to align to pixel grid.
How can I easily find a character if its attribute is different from others? There might be some easier way than compare it one by one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI manage a design department where we're constantly working with documents that have multiple placed and embedded images in each. As an example, we often have 10 instances each of 4 different images in a given document. These links are constantly changing and being updated on a per-client basis. My concern is that my designers waste a lot of time relinking these embedded graphics as the software prompts the user to relink each one individually. If the designer needs to replace 10 of the linked graphics with, say, "Royal Mahogany", they have to select all 10, select the relink option and specify the file they want to replace the graphic with by clicking on and placing the selected file for each instance of the graphic. So if they're replacing the links of 10 images, they have to select and place the desired file 10 times. Is there any way to select multiple placed images and replace them all at once? Note that the images we place into the file are stored in multiple locations on server, subdivided by material, manufacturer, color, finish etc.
My team is using CS3 mac version currently but we'll be upgrading to CS5 soon. This is a huge time-waster for my company.
i regularly have to print out colours for sublimating fabric, and use illustrator to create a panel of blends to print out.
I put four colours in the corners, make an 18 step blend or the top two, then the bottom two, expand them then ungroup them, and then change the blend options to 8 steps and blend them vertically one by one.
all in all it's several minutes work, but i thought i could change the values of the four corners, and then use actions to blend the grid.
initially it stopped and told me ungroup was unavailable, so i created smaller steps, but still can't get it to work.
is this possible, or do i carry on manually crating grids? or is there another way?
Say I had a group of windows in one layer. A wall in a layer beneath and a giant flock of birds in the layer below that. How would I be able to make the birds visible in the windows while keeping the flock easily editable? CLipping masks seem to only work well with single objects.

However, when I go to Save for Web, my image map gets spliced into 22 separate images that are little pieces of the image. How can I get it to export as a single image so I can upload to a page on my site? I can't find a specific setting to make this adjustment.

i have created a business using photoshop and saved it as a PDF, i also have a friends business card in a PDF version....both have bleeds and crop marks....what is the easiest (or longest if necessary) way in Illustrator CS3 to put say 3 colums by 4 rows of the same business card on one sheet, with crop marks and all, and print it?

all 4 printed well, had no problems.this last one, the printer gave the foll:
1. The is overprint issues on the pdf files.
2. Some pages the fonts are not embedded.
3. There is spot colours in the job.
it is 24 pages
I did not change my setting at all as from my previous brochures. So I am completely lost in how to solve it and not for it to happen again.We used the same printer for all the brochures.
Even the flyers I recently did, saying the same problems. Am using the same printer.
I have a lot of existing eps-files of which the option "embed all fonts" is unchecked. Know I have to check the "embed all fonts" in the existing eps-files. I tried to modify the script below, but it seems that the embedallfonts is NOT working.
When I do it manually (without script), then it works fine. With script, it doesn't work.

Another question will be: can I get a dialog box to put in the path to the eps-files, I can do thereafter it in batch instead of each time opening and closing a file.
I'm doing about 200 Illustrator drawings that come from a PDF document. I've created an action that resizes the placed artwork and moves it to the correct location on the artboard. I tried adding the "Embed Image" command to the action with no luck. Is there a way to do this with a script or shortcut?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been looking for a solution to automate a printing and ordering process. I have a design template with 2 pages both 8.5x11 in size. One page represents the front and other the back for double sided printing. I have 6 different images per sheet so in my links panel I have 12 total links, 2 of each. I was wondering if there is a script to update all the links with the same filename with other image? Currently I have to search through all the images and update each one.
I have 6 artboards dividing the 8.5x11 sheet proportionatly. Each artboard represents a different order. Is there a script to write the linked filename to the bottom corner of each artboard?

I can't seem to be able to emebd a tiff file.

I have a simple, clean logo with a couple of compound paths (letters like the 'e', 'A'). There are no clipping paths. Everything works great in that file if I save it, re-open and edit it, etc.
If I "Place" or drag this file into a brand new, blank file, and then "Embed" the artwork, it creates 2 clipping masks the size of the artboard. More importantly, it messes up the compound paths so that I have to select them and use the 'Unite' shape mode to get it to function properly. I can see this by trying to add a stroke to the letters.. the stroke is broken until I use the Unite button. Even undoing the compound path and redoing it doesn't work. In the attached image, you can see how a corner is broken , as well as how neither 'inside' nor 'outside' is available for the embedded version.
I have a number of microscope images of the same subject that were taken under three different conditions. I'd like to use clipping masks to crop the images in the same way (the same size but also the same positions relative to the corners/sides of the images. In case that was incoherent, I made an image to try to explain what I'm trying to achieve (the same portion of each image for each set):
View 3 Replies View RelatedI export high res TIFFs and PSDs a lot from Illustrator. One option is EMBED ICC PROFILE. I'm going to PS to build my composite. When should I embed the profile, and when shouldn't I?
When I open in PS, even if I don't Embed, doesn't PS know what colorspace the doc was created?
While exporting the document as jpeg, through File->Export, there is an option "Embed ICC Profile" as figure shows.
How to set it if I am exporting the document through my program in which I rasterize the document and used the sAIImage->AsJPEG(raster, jpegDataFilter, params); I didn't find any option in AIRasterizeSettings or AIImageOptJPEGParams to set this flag.
