GIMP :: Aligning Text Over A Graphic?

View 1 RepliesJust wanted to align some text with the canvas. Thinking I'd simply overlooked the feature, How do you align a layer to the canvas? Specifically, a text layer.
The answers I found:
Use mouse to drag layer to the center of canvas. (This does not result in the accuracy for which I was hoping, unless I do some math to determine and pinpoint the proper location and try to keep my hand steady.)
Cut, copy, paste. (This renders the text uneditable.)
There isn't an align feature?
This is probably only task I will need from Gimp but I do need it in step by step.
I am the leader of a program at church and there is a logo for it. I am endeavoring to take that logo saved on my HD reduce its size ( I know How ) then add text to bottom and save it as a signature in pictures to use with the group.
I just added text to a graphic. How do I bold it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..
Is there a way to insert a Ai graphic into msWord and the graphic text still be searchable in msWord? I would like the text in my Ai graphic to be searchable once the graphic is inserted in msWord. I have tried different Ai exports, but all come into msWord as pictures. Is there a way to keep the Text Layer in my Ai file searchable in msWord.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been taking a series of pictures of a church over the seasons and would like to make a slide show from them showing the changes. The problem is I have taken them by hand and so the images do not completely overlay.
Is there a way I can select part of the image, for example the top of the church door beam and then align each other image to the same position. This may require some of the images to rotate themselves slightly. I would then like to be able to crop each image to a defined area, the same in all cases, and then save the images. I was planning to produce a slide show in powerpoint with the images to show how the church has changed over the seasons but if there is an option to do this with better results I would like to consider it.
I'm a Gimp newbie, using 2.8.4. I have a png image that's 530 pixels wide. I'm trying to merge it with a white background layer that is 960 pixels wide. I need to align the image to the right side of the background layer. This is what I did:
- opened my image
- created background layer (960 px wide)
- made background layer the bottom layer
- clicked on Alignment tool
- clicked the hand cursor on the image (530 px wide)
- made the background layer the active layer
- set "Relative to:" Active layer
- clicked on the right alignment arrow
The image did move to where I wanted it, but most of the image from the right edge disappeared, so all I've got is a small portion of the left side of the image in the middle of my background layer. Then I did the following:
- merged visible layers with Expand as necessary
That action merged the layers, but all I have is a small part of my image near the center of the background.

I am struggling to properly align text because the bounding boxes are not centered around the text. Therefore, when I try to align it with another object, it is off. I am using CS 6 and, generally, the point and type tool. it might be the type of font (that perhaps they are "bad" fonts) but it doesn't seem to matter which type of font I use. The bounding box always has extra space underneath the text, even when using a very standard font like Times New Roman.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsoftware like indesign and coreldraw allow you to align centres of texts and objects.
for example if i have written the word bedroom and a rectangle of 3000 by 4500 is therem, i can select the text and the rectangle. press the aign to centre button and these two things will align their centres. how can i do that in autocad?
If you can use the ALIGN command to align multiple text objects in the Y-Axis? (or X-Axis as well)
I know about changing the X value of a bunch of text objects to align them that way. I'm just wondering if the ALIGN command will allow you to do something similar?
I want to do this without lisp too. If there are other methods I'm always wanting to learn! I just had a new cad user ask me about the ALIGN command and I couldn't get it to do it.
I have two simple text objects (not textarea) and i'm trying to align them vertically to bottom. It aligns these text objects by bounding box, not by base line. How can i align text objects vertically by base line?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI wish to align a text like this at an oval shape. The field of the text body does align at all - which I can understand. Using the grafic text, it aligns directly on/ over the outline of the oval shape. But I won't have the whole text in a round - I just want to have the paragraph's left side to be aligned/ positioned at the outer shape of the oval.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a variable number of text lines I would like to arrange along the path of half a circle. I would like the text to look like each text-string is radiating from the circle (the path I have as half a circle).
I would like to do this in adobe illustrator
I would like the text to be evenly spaced along the path dependent on how many lines of text I have.
I have seen other discussions suggesting either the blend-tool or the brush-tool. But no luck. The blend-tool would make distorted shapes in between, and would twist and distort the text. The brush tool would make each text a little bit 'cone-shaped', and I would prefer having the text without such a 'cone-shape'.
I am attaching a picture that halfway shows my intentions. In this diagram I have started rotating the first 4-5 text-lines. I have more text-strings (just above the half-circle) that I also would like to include along the path the half-circle is indicating.
The final goal is to get each of these locality-names raditing from the tips in the little red tree.
Is it possible in illustrator to align the text along a path like this? It is almost similar to the normal align objects and distribute objects.
I am working on a Mac OSX 10.5 Adobe Illustrator CS3.
Type some text and try to change orientation to vertical and the program rotates 90 degrees to the right instead of aligning text.
I did a reset of Photoshop settings file (CTRL + SHIFT + ALT on Photoshop boot) and no change of issue.

I have a drawing with lots of text of rooms and their sizes. I would like to align the centers of the text so that they have all a middle alignment. just like in coreldraw we have an option of aligning the objects of text along a vertical axis is there such command in autocad?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn a layout for an ebook I have some important black and white bitmap illustrations in tiff., 300 dpi. These have appeared ok on print, but on screen, reading the same pdf-file, they're unacceptable, especially some texts in fontsize 5-6 pt are unclear. I have to convert the drawings, or at least the texts, to vector graphics. Can I open these tiff.s in Photoshop, change only the texts to vector graphics and then save in a format, that can be inserted in the Word2010 layout?

This does not occur when aligning objects, nor text with an object. This only occurs (as far as I can tell) when aligning two or more sets of text alone.
When I enter the align and distribute window the vertical align checkboxes are greyed out with "Top" selected.
It is not possible to uncheck or select any other vertical align option. It is possible to "force" the window to deselect it by selecting "top" in the distribute tab, but this does not make the align options selectable again.
You can workaround this by creating a temporary object to align with your text.

i have this black and white graphic below.
And I would like to change the white background to a particular shade of colour, say pink. Now because I'm not 100% sure how to do this I've just been using the paint bucket fill tool to change the colour. But as you can see below, that is not 100% correct as the shades of black that make up the graphic do not "add" to make up pink shades.
I would like the result to be this:
I know I have to use something under the "Colors" menu but am not sure where to begin.
I have a logo that has many multiple colors (lots of little dots manly due to the lack of resolution). I need to change everything to white so I can lay it over a colored background.
