having a problem with x6 importing Eps as text or curves X6 is a nightmare. have made eps files from pdfs imports fine in x5 opens in illustrator cs6. The files re distill to pdf in acrobat no problem. used corel since windows 286 have finally given up, due to font handling change and plugin issues. on to cs6.
View 14 RepliesI've taken over the spot as art person, and to put it nicely I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not sure if I did it or another person who has been on the program. but now when I am accepting files PDF CDR from other people I am no longer recieving the option to import as text or curves. It is automatically importing them as curves. Which is all fine and dandy for fonts I do not have but it leaves me unable to edit the text as needed without having to redo all the text for the fonts I do have.
Where can I find the option to make that option re-pop up when I am importing stuff?
Embedding substitutes fonts with OK button on prompt at best. Flattener forces a rasterize when trying to keep proper colors. Don't see many options beyond importing twice with both methods, then removing elements that don't work from each.

In my old drawing program, I converted the text to curves, then ungrouped the set of letters. I can't seem to be able to do this in Corel. Once converted to curves, when I select the text, the option to ungroup is greyed out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded to Corel Draw X5 having used many previous versions (back to Corel 6) but i'm having a few issues when importing .EPS files.
I normally do a design in AutoCAD, then export to .eps, then import into Corel.
Im finding an issue though, when I import an EPS that contains text, the middle section of the text will not combine and fill correctly.
For example, if I were to import a letter "Q" when I then combine the outer section to the middle section in previous versions the letter would appear normally, with a "Hollow" inner section. However, in X5, I combine the letter and the inner section does not combine with the outer section, leaving me with a solid black symbol, with the outline of a letter "Q" but no centre piece to define the actual character.
I need to import DXF files to Corel, but when I import them, the text appear as paragraph text, not as artistic text...that's not a problem if the paragraph text includes all the text...but it do not do that. Some texts appears as paragraph with red lines (so it is not possible to see it, as well as not possible to convert directly to artistic with Ctrl+F8). Also, some paragraph text appear as 2 lines instead of just one, because it do not feed in wide but yes in height.
I would like to import the text directly as artistic...or as paragraph,but with the same appearance of the original DXF file.
I have been trying really hard now and this has ocurred several times before for me: I copy a text from MS Word and paste it into a Paragraph text frame in Corel Draw, and all I get is a line break. That's correct, just one line break, no text.
If I take just a few hundred words it pastes allright, but if I have like 14 000 characters including spaces, it fails to paste. If I paste the same amount of text into Notepad and then from there to Draw, it works alright. There seems to be a problem importing/pasting formatted text, even if you discard all fonts and formatting in the Paste text dialog.
If I go to Edit/Paste special/Text the import works, but the text does not land in the text frame selected or where you have the cursor active, instead you get the text in some randomly fomed text frames where you most likely don't want them, many times just as big as the page and with no margins.
So there definitely seems to be a problem pasting longer texts into Corel Draw.
I frequently require mathematical symbols such as ≤ or ≥, which are easy enough to insert as unicode characters and supported by common fonts such as Arial.
However, when I try to import text containing such characters, such as within an Excel table, they just import as "?" instead. I've tried pasting Excel table in various formats. As an Excel object or a Metafile the overall formatting is retained correctly but the symbols become question marks. Enhanced Metafile preserves the symbols but alters the fonts so that the text no longer fits within the cell, ruining the layout.
I've also noticed that when I manually insert unicode symbols using the text tool in CorelDraw X6 it changes the font to Adobe Fangsong Std R (which looks awful). If I try to change the font after the fact, everything changes except the symbols. Highlighting the symbols also looks different: rounded highlight rectangle versus normal rectangle for ordinary text. It seems CorelDraw refuses to treat these symbols as ordinary unicode text forcing them instead into this horrible wirey font instead.
I also have issues try to export from CorelDraw to say Powerpoint where Corel will automatically format some text as ligatures but when exporting these just show up as "?" in Powerpoint.
1) Is there any way to get CorelDraw X6 to reliably import and export text, including unicode symbols, without messing up the formatting/layout.
2) is there any way to get CorelDraw not to change the font of symbols?

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is the second time I've had crashes in X6 64 bit, the first time was importing a very large "XLS" file, and then today while converting a selected group to curves it crashed. I restarted Draw opened the file that I had saved but not converted the part of the drawing I wanted to cut to curves, as soon as I tried to convert to curves it crashed again. Restarted the computer with the same results. I got the job to the cutter so it is not holding me up, but I did want to let the powers that be know about the crash. And I have been converting at least some of each drawing I do to curves with no problems, nothing had changed in the computer so it makes me wonder what's going on. The computer is a i5, 8 gb ram, 2 gb video card, Windows 7 Ult.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased CorelDraw x5. There used to be means to treat closed curves as not filled. But I can't find the means. I think in x4 I simply checked an item in a dialogue box.
At present if you click inside a closed curve [e.g. a rectangle] the curve is selected. That makes selecting items inside the curve separately. Which is a real pain, since I use a rectangle as a figure frame.
I want to import a .ps file I used to create via latex and gnuplot. I can import the graphics and so on, however I get the question if I should import the text. Then I want to import it as curves. However I get asked again which font I want to use. Afterwards I got a partly mess, becuase Corel Draw X6 only imports a few letters correctly. How can I import all letters and numbers as curves?

On zooming in, the curve looks like this with bitmap below the curve-group
As you can see on the right, the original bitmap is below the curve-group.. but when i delete the bitmap (as i no longer need it). it results in these curves with strange whitish borders :
I was working on Corel X4. I was using bickham font. After my design was done i did convert to curves but the whole font sort off just distorted completely.

Now it just shows the curved symbol. Would like to get this back.
