CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Join Curves Docker - It Does Nothing
Jul 5, 2011The Join Curves docker seems like a handy tool, unfortunately following the directions yields no change--I can't get it to do anything at all. Is this a known issue? I have X5 with the latest SP, just installed a few days ago.

"The join option only results in a corner join regardless of whether you select anchor points to join or the entire path. However, for overlapping anchor points, if you want the option to select a smooth or corner join, then use Ctrl+Shift+Alt+J (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Option+J (Mac OS)."

Basically when I use Outline Pathfinder in Adobe Illustrator, then bring back into corel, sometimes get a lot of redundant objects. I already set the settings in Adobe Illustrator to minimize that as much as possible.

Illustrator :: CS5 - Cannot Join Two Overlapped Anchor Points

I need to copy and paste path segments in order to create uniform serifs for letters. (For example, specific path curves).
So imagine I have a horizontal segment and a curve segment. I mouseover each one seperately and I can see they have anchor points where I want them to merge afterwards. I drag one towards the other to make them intersect. Then I try to select both anchor points and press CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + J, but it displays this error: "To join, you must select two open endpoints. (...)" Which makes me think I'm not really selecting both anchor points when they're overlapped.
I have the idea that they can't overlap, because my path segment won't detect the anchor point in the other path. They're just visually intersected but not connected.
If I try to join them when they aren't overlapped, they will join but distort the original shape of the path segments. I select them both with the Direct Selection tool, pressing Shift to add the second anchor point to the selection, which won't work when they're overlapped because Shift + Clicking will deselect the anchor that seems on top.
I also tried various shape modes in pathfinder and nothing works.
How can I properly overlap and join / merge them?
(I'm using a white fill so I can see the shape forming as I add more anchor points so I'm sure they aren't joined).

Aug 12, 2012In the above image, I have four symmetrical corners of an ellipse which I'm trying to join together into one ellipse that is perfectly symmetrical. I am trying to line up the anchors perfectly (one corner at time) and then do a join, yet the result is always slightly off. I've been selecting the two points I want to join and using Path -> Average, then Path -> Join to do this, yet as mentioned it's not coming out precise.

Dec 5, 2013What setting have I changed: Just today, when I try to move a point, "unite" shapes, or join 2 points, the points jump out of position. I've turned off "snap to grid" and "align new objects to pixel grid". I've even copied and pasted the artwork into a new "default" file. I've also restarted AICS5. I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious.

However I can't join more than 2 of them, as the screenshot below the third one gets left behind, Join command doesn't work Because I have the opacity down to 70% you can see the ugly overlap in the intersection and I need to join all the 3 points for them to look as they should. Jul 11, 2012I'm trying to take a shape from illustrator and have the iOS graphics engine draw it without having to import the file. In order to do this, I need to somehow get a text break down of all the bezier paths / curves / points that comprise the shape so I can tell the iOS graphics engine the points that need to be drawn. Is there anyway to get a list of these points from illustrator?

(a) add a point (corresponding to the position of the Eyedropper Tool on the image) to the RGB composite curve by Control + Clicking; and

Photoshop :: Control Black And White Points In Curves With Cursor?
Jun 9, 2013In Curves, when you want to see the deepest blacks and whitest whites, you hold down Option while clicking and dragging the balck and white sliders – and the dragging doesn't allow accurate control. It's okay, but I would find it better if I could nudge the black and white sliders from the keyboard while seeing the effect on the image. Is that possible when using Curves as an adjustment layer?

CorelDRAW X5 :: How To Merge / Flatten / Join Separate Layers (objects)
May 6, 2012I came across this site a few weeks ago and was happy to see that a community like this existed. I am new to CorelDraw and have been playing around with it because my friend just bought a Roland GX-24 vinyl cutter and I wanted to make some designs for it. I, however, am overly experienced with Photoshop and not enough with CorelDraw, but would like to balance that out.
I came across my recent predicament when I exported my CorelDraw image into Roland CutStudio and it wanted to cut all the underlying curves from each layer, instead of the black and white image as it appeared. I wasn't surprised this happened because I couldn't figure a way to join/ merge the curves before I exported, but I was still hopeful that it might cut the image as it appeared.
This first object is a blade layer and as you can see from the picture, when selected, its curve goes right through the other spiral object. How can I merge these curves? As it stands right now, I can't even figure out a way to select the two of them at the same time, let alone join the curves.
....and vice versa in this picture, the spiral object when selected goes right through the blade
....and in the foremost layer of the image when selected, the curves also continue through the spiral
Here is a picture of the current layers for this whole image. The front layer I paint bucket filled numerous portions of it with white so it stuck out above the bottom two other layers, so all the fills make it a group of 161 objects, and the next layer is a group of 2 objects which are the spiral and the blade from the first 2 pictures.
My question is how can I merge or join all the curves in the entire image, essentially flattening the whole image as it appears?

Now that I'm finished I would like to select everything I did and turn them all into curves at once, but it will only let me select sections at a time...how come? Is there a way to selet them all and turn them into curves or do I have to select one section at a time?

Apr 23, 2012I've taken over the spot as art person, and to put it nicely I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not sure if I did it or another person who has been on the program. but now when I am accepting files PDF CDR from other people I am no longer recieving the option to import as text or curves. It is automatically importing them as curves. Which is all fine and dandy for fonts I do not have but it leaves me unable to edit the text as needed without having to redo all the text for the fonts I do have.
Where can I find the option to make that option re-pop up when I am importing stuff?

Jun 6, 2012This is the second time I've had crashes in X6 64 bit, the first time was importing a very large "XLS" file, and then today while converting a selected group to curves it crashed. I restarted Draw opened the file that I had saved but not converted the part of the drawing I wanted to cut to curves, as soon as I tried to convert to curves it crashed again. Restarted the computer with the same results. I got the job to the cutter so it is not holding me up, but I did want to let the powers that be know about the crash. And I have been converting at least some of each drawing I do to curves with no problems, nothing had changed in the computer so it makes me wonder what's going on. The computer is a i5, 8 gb ram, 2 gb video card, Windows 7 Ult.

Jul 16, 2012I recently purchased CorelDraw x5. There used to be means to treat closed curves as not filled. But I can't find the means. I think in x4 I simply checked an item in a dialogue box.
At present if you click inside a closed curve [e.g. a rectangle] the curve is selected. That makes selecting items inside the curve separately. Which is a real pain, since I use a rectangle as a figure frame.
