CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Why Text Turned To Blocks
Apr 10, 2013it happened suddenly. if i zoom right in and go into wireframe...it shows the text . it's able to be read when i convert to curves, but then i cant edit it.
the words are just long black rectangles.

For example if text is pasted into a blank page with the either the pick or text tool active the text frame on each page is 8.3"x10.8" on a 8.5"x11" page. the same on each succeeding page until the text is less than a full page.
I would like to set the text frame at 7.5"x10" for pasting in text when the text will need unknown number of pages.

Oct 25, 2012Just upgraded my X5 to X6. So far so good, except pop up menus are blank. See image below. Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is this a Windows XP Pro problem? I have my screen resolution set to the Corel recommended 1024x768.

Jun 30, 2011i have been working on this project in corel draw12 for several weeks now, as it is or/was coming to its final stages a few days ago it now only opens a blank page, it is 2.14 gb and it will get bigger as it reaches its final stages.i can still see it in preview. when it was opening it took a very long time to open i realise the reason for this is the size im using very high resolution images and designing and editing, or maybe there is another program that you may recommend that will support the size so i can complete my work.
i found a backup copy but it will not import the size is 1.70 gb seems its still too large to open ,
i don't think it has anything to do with memory , i have a full drive laptop is new. my thoughts are that corel draw will not open a file that size, and you are right about breaking it up i should have worked in several sheets but saved them desperately.

Apr 30, 2012When I try to open an X5 template in X6, nothing happens in X6. I don't receive any error messages. It looks like the template is opening, but I just end up with a blank grey (no file opened) slate. I am using the 32-bit build. Everything else seems fine.

all of my Cdr files be corrupted . they show their real size (eg 23mb ) but when i open them it show white page. Even the tumbnail pic shows only corel draw pencil and when i want open them on corel or import in it This error message appears : D: 01.cdr" is not importable using the selected filter, or this format is not supported

Jun 13, 2013I have been using X3 for years, then decided to upgrade to 4 which I did, however I stopped using X4 as I could not see the Fonts display in the fly out box as they show blank so you can not see what the text would look like say in 'Bold' or 'Italic' or in a different font. I keep trying to sort it then I just go back to X3 but I really want to use X4 (I have X5 which does exactly the same thing.) I have looked at the 'Font settings' in X3 & compared to X4 checked and unchecked boxes, still no different. I did have X4 loaded on another old computer, which I uninstalled, thinking this may be the problem. Didn't change anything, so I have just uninstalled and reinstalled on the computer I am using now but still no good.
My operating system is still windows XP not sure if this is the cause?

Sep 11, 2013I am using Corel X3...I am trying to create a PDF in Corel X3 but the pdf is coming out blank? On smaller files they work out OK. I have re-sampled the images to make them smaller but it is not working? The file size is 31mb.I have made PDF's before and it is easy, but this is frustrating now. I have even uninstalled Corel and re-installed. Changed PDF generating programs too. I am now using Nitro Reader.

Mar 18, 2012why (sometimes) when I export text or graphics as .eps files to my cutter it cuts the same outline up to four to five times and ends up cutting right through the backing paper. I have been using postcut with various corel editions since 1997 with no problems until recently. It also cuts random lines through lines of text which is such an expensive pain in the ass.
I started to use the production manager in flexi sign to cut my designs and same thing happens, except for the random lines but it will make up to five cuts on some objects. All text and graphics are exported the same. Has something in corel newer versions changed in relation to this?

Sep 5, 2009Often whatever I'm working on in X4 disappears off the document page when I zoom in or out. It's still there (I can see it in the print preview)and I can print it, but I can't see it no matter what view (e.g., normal, draft, etc.) I select. If I select the entire page I can see the graphic and text handles, but nothing else. The only way I can see my work again is to save it, close the program, and then re-open the file. My computer is a Dell Precision Work Station T3400 running Vista Ultimate with an Intel Core2 Quad CPU, 4GB RAM, and my graphics card is an NVIDIA Quadro FX 570 256MB. All my software and drivers are up to date. The problem occurs no matter what screen resolution or refresh rate I'm using.

May 9, 2011X5 Recently have begun missing parts of print out. Tried to duplicate but appears completely random.
Output to both Full colour laser and Wide Format printers will miss either text or part of objects. Today printed the text but not the text effects. Initially closed and reopened, rebooted, However this has become a now daily feature so regardless tried reprint from the same screen so next print has everything included.
Very costly and time consuming - print preview shows all correct but output is not the same.
Running Win 7 64bit 8GB Ram

Jan 30, 2013I have a custom palette set on two machines. If I save a file on one and then open it on the other, the second machine does not recognize the custom colors and leaves the object blank. I can click on the palette and correct this but can I set it so that the colors will load correctly when I open the files.

Apr 10, 2012So I'm working on a website layout this morning with parts and pieces all over my artboard. I zoom out to 25% and everything on my artboard disappears. It's still there, just not visible. I did a little tinkering and it turns out the 27% and below has this effect.

when I create a new blank document, it size always become multiply of 10 (example Page size A4 = 2100mm x 2970mm) and in the document, when I draw a new object, it will automatical multiply with 10, too. I'm using Windows 7, and I never seen this problem before, when I using Windows XP!

Apr 18, 2013In an effort to free up space on our company server I have been tasked with archiving and/or deleting files, of which a large amount are cdr files. So my question...yesterday out of a design subfolder I deleted around 1700 backup files comprising 19GB of file space. It would be except for one thing, deleting 19GB out of that one folder cleared up 160GB of space on our server.I have double checked my file counts, sizes, folder counts, etc before and after I deleted the files and everything adds up except for the 19GB deleted cleared up 160GB of space. These files were mostly last saved with x6, though some of them were probably first created with x4.

Feb 25, 2013I really don't know the best way to do this or maybe there is a standard, but here is what I am wanting.
When you put text over a simple vector graphic, the graphics makes it hard to read the Text.
I normally delete the graphic lines touching the text and this works but was wondering if there was another way.
Example: if this is a one color design "White" and it is just an outline of lets say a human, and I want to display text which is "White" also across the human image sometimes the image will interfere with being able to read the text clearly.
