AutoCad :: When Pasted Change Not Allow To Break The Group
Oct 12, 2011
When I copy (to my clip board) something that I grouped in a file, and then paste it in that same file it breaks the group. Is there a setting that I can change to not allow it to break the group when pasted?
In cs6 when I break a link to a symbol, the symbol group becomes a sublayer and the layers panel gets expanded showing all the objects in that layer. I then have to collapse the menu. every time I select any object that was part of the symbol, my layers panel expands. this is very frustrating. so avoided it, when I break a symbol, I have to select the objects from the menu panel and move them out of the sublayer. this is not very fun to do when I have a lot of symbols to deal with.
so is this a new behavior in cs6, is there a way for a symbol to break into a group and not a sublayer (ithink that's what's happening not sure)?
If you have several objects grouped, and then you combine them all on a single object, the resulting object is placed inside the same group. This seems bogus, since is not possible to create a group of a single object.
Test case:Create 4 rectangles.Select them all and group them (ctrl+g)Select the group and combine all objects (ctrl+alt+dnarrow)
What I expect:A single object floating on the canvas
What I get:The same group but with a single object inside.

when I select>>copy from one image and then Paste As Layer into a new image, parts of the copied selection change color. It's usually not a vast difference in color, but a definite change.
In the screen shot you'll see that I copied the "Learn More" link from the top image and pasted it as a layer into the 3 following background images. In the first two it pasted exact (a brownish color), in the 3rd it pasted as a drab green color. Why?The 3 images being pasted to are all Indexed images with the same channels and same opacity.
The next example screen shot may identify my issue...but this one REALLY Does my head in I selected the bear by color, copied, and pasted as a layer into each one of the background images shown in the first example/screen shot.Notice in the first, how the bear is pasted as the off brown color of the Learn More link. The Second is pasted as the drab green color i'm trying to fix in the first example. And the Third is pasted as the Black color I want, but its on the same image as the drab green Learn More link I can't seem to fix...
to change the Blend Mode on a "Folder". I'm assuming they meant a Group since there's no option labeled "folder" that I'm aware of. How is this possible? When I right-click a Group I do see an option for "Blending options" but it's always grayed out.
I have an image made out of a stack of layers of vector shapes, grouped together. All layers have same (10 px stroke) effect. Is there a way to change it all at once, without clicking and editing every layer effects?
I see that the new default blending mode when you create a Group From Layers is Pass Through. I will never use this configuration, and would prefer to set my default to Normal.
I have a large group of objects, all one color. I need to make a subtle change to the color. Is there a easy way to change all the colors in a group of object to another specific color? Some objects only have an outline, and some only have a fill without having to go through each object one by one in the object manager?
I'm having a problem with Adobe Illustrator CC 17.1.0 with colors, types and groups.
If I select a text or a group and try to change its color, the Fill color stays correct a the panel, but the text or the group maintains the old color, like the screenshot below.
The only way to change color its is selecting all text characters or all group's elements.
I have table, several chairs and some glasses and plates on table. I want to group them and instance that group, hundred of times. Problem is that I do not have materials implemented and I will not until client is satisfied with arrangement. I have problems later, even using many scripts I found, to add material to all instances. Only way is to select one by one.
Other thing is that there might be new objects added into set, so best way would be to add to master group and that will be added in instances of that group automatically, but that does not work with Maya.
One of our standard practices is to copy/ paste schedules from EXCEL into CAD. The OLE objects paste with the text color set to whatever was set up in EXCEL. But for one user , his text always changes to blue in the copy paste process. We cannot figure out how to change it to match everyone elses. Is this a CAD setting or EXCEL setting.
When I make a standard print of any object, I normally offer two or three views, I also include an isometric view of the object that I draw in a 3-D program, and I cut and paste a screen shot of that image into my Autocad file. I do this for the few of our Brothers who have a problem reading standard blueprints for their own reasons. After cut and paste, I find that the image quality is extremely poor, with ragged and unclear edges, I am not sure but I think the poor quality edges are called tesselation. Is there a solution to this condition?
I created some tables in the attached AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 drawing by copying and pasting cells from an Excel 2007 workbook.
I have been able to update the tables in AutoCAD and print without any problems. However, when a second user opened the drawing, the table text was missing (the lines were present).
Note: We are saving our files in AutoCAD 2010 format for compatibility with some LT users.
When I draw an object (let's say a line that's 10 inches long) and paste it into corel the size varies based on how much I'm zoomed in.
fwiw I'm using 'paste special' and using picture (metafile) this way I can keep the points. if I just paste as autocad I loose the points, and an arc might become a rectangle as far as points go...
I'm having the same problem with DesignCAD actually.
I'm able to print pasted excel table with default colors ( ie: cell with text and fill with color background in autocad. By using Autocad 2013, with I can see the default colors when preview, but once I printed out to hard copy or PDF format, its only printed text but without any color background, I have try to print the pdf file by using DWG To PDF.pc3, Adobe PDF & CutePDF Writer, HP Design Jet T1120 plotter, all have the same result.
When I use the copy with base point command in paper space and try to paste it into paper space of another drawing it seems to come in on a different axis or something. I can see the view ports as they are supposed to be however the text just shows as a line. It would be as if I were to put text in model space on top view and see it just fine then go to a front view and see just a line.
I have a series of drawings and am unable to make some block text for risers not appear hidden. If I paste the block into another drawing I get the text to appear but then when I try to bring back into this drawing it becomes hidden.
I like the AutoCAPS setting in Mtext, however I occasionally use lower-case text when I am typing, such '2"x4" STUDS' . . . now, I do have a problem with AutoCAPS though:
Example - I copy '2"x4" STUDS" and paste it into another Mtext and the lower-case 'x' is automatically pasted as an uppercase character.
Are there any settings for AutoCAPS, or maybe for the copy/paste command that I can change to allow lower-case characters to be pasted into text when the AutoCAPS is on? It is a bit of a hassle to turn off AutoCAPS and turn it back on.
When I cut out a group of people from a photo for the purpose of dropping them on top of a new background, I usually run into the same problem. Even tho' I may have set them on top of a concrete sidewalk or the likes, they still have that look of hovering or floating in mid air.
I have two similar images of a group of people. I need to cut and paste two of the heads onto to the other image because their expressions are better. Unfortunately, I seem to have stepped forward a little when taking the photograph, so consequently the proportions are a bit out when I cut and paste.
I am shooting interior photographs of houses. I use natural light and it is impossible to get the correct exposure for the interior and the windows. I take two exposures one for inside and one for windows and lights. I then try to cut the windows out of the underexposed photo and paste them into the overexposed windows. The problem I get is that I can never get a clean cut and have some jagged edges. How do I blend the edges of the windows to look natural or another way to blend the 2 images together.
I made a gif and added a picture on top of it but when I try to export it says "Crop to selection" I've done that before and it just crops to the face, not the entire gif.
I was working in Gimp last night with no problems at all. I modified an image of some fabric to create a texture then pasted that texture into another image and had happy results. I'm trying to do it again tonight with a different texture I created but when I try to paste it into the other image the pasted layer is not visible. The layer transparency is set to 100, and, of course, the 'show layer" eye is clicked.
I have stitched together a picture and cropped it to by 21"x7" so that it can be printed as three separate 7x5 photos and framed together to make a pano. Right now the "master" image is perfectly sized at 21x7. When I try to cut out the first 7x5 portion, it resizes to 5.25x3.75 when I paste into a new image. If I resize it from there it becomes distorted. I've been using the rectangle selector set to fixed size (7x5); and selecting cut from then paste into new image from the edit menu.
How can I get the pasted image to be the same size as the one that is cut?
When I use the Lasso Select tool to Cut a selected image (in this case, a person from a photo), then paste them onto another photo, the pasted image is surrounded by an outline, so that it is not "seamless." How can I paste it so that it blends with the background, and does not have this outline, or border? I tried pasting into new layer, and pasting just straight into the destination photo. The objective is: Two family group photos of the same size, nearly identical in every way - need to cut person from one photo, paste into second photo that was taken seconds later, so that ALL the family is included in the photo.
