fwiw I'm using 'paste special' and using picture (metafile) this way I can keep the points. if I just paste as autocad I loose the points, and an arc might become a rectangle as far as points go...

I tried DWG and DXF and it's the same problem. metafile lets me keep the edges and such for nodes at least. I'm having the issue primarily with DesignCAD and AutoCAD
Open up a picture
Create a Mask marquee and Cut [Ctrl X]
Undo twice [Ctrl Z twice]. You're now back where you started but with a cut object on the clipboard
Paste [Ctrl V]
Cut [Ctrl X]
Paste again [Ctrl V]
Cut again [Ctrl X]
In my case, the entire image has now been cut, not just the pasted object.The reason I do this is because I'm working with two virtually identical pictures. On one picture there has been a modification which I wish to paste onto the other. I cut and paste but need to align the pasted object with the picture. So, I paste the object and move it; then cut and then paste it to check it's in the correct position. If it's out of alignment then the image appears to move. There may be other ways to do this but I find this way easy.
I am having problems copying/pasting an image into Gimp. Instead of the image itself being pasted, it pastes the mac symbol for Jpeg (the photo of the little Asian boy by the sea with the camera lens on top). The same happens pasting an EPS file. I don't understand as I have managed to paste an image before. I have tried pasting into selection/pasting as new image/pasting as new layer. All the same. Neither will Gimp let me drag an image into it from finder or the desktop. I've tried opening a new file from scratch too. Same problem.
I'm using a macbook pro. OX 10.6.8
I have copied from one file to another, and now my paint or pencil tool both have the entire image stuck to them, and when I try to paint, the entire image gets pasted on to the image.

View 4 Replies View RelatedII need to cut and paste an image from one photoshop doc to another. This I can do just fine, but when I do, it resizes the image I pasted and makes it smaller. Since I'm wokring with scans that need to retain their exact size, this is not good.
-Also, the piece of the doc I'm cutting from is a little bit bigger than the 8..5 x 11 letter size doc I'm pasting into.
When I make a standard print of any object, I normally offer two or three views, I also include an isometric view of the object that I draw in a 3-D program, and I cut and paste a screen shot of that image into my Autocad file. I do this for the few of our Brothers who have a problem reading standard blueprints for their own reasons. After cut and paste, I find that the image quality is extremely poor, with ragged and unclear edges, I am not sure but I think the poor quality edges are called tesselation. Is there a solution to this condition?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the copy with base point command in paper space and try to paste it into paper space of another drawing it seems to come in on a different axis or something. I can see the view ports as they are supposed to be however the text just shows as a line. It would be as if I were to put text in model space on top view and see it just fine then go to a front view and see just a line.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have autocad lt 2009, previously when I wanted to trace a drawing I would go to paint, copy the drawing and then paste it in autocad on one layer and do the drawing on another layer worked great, But now when I do the same process it doesn't work.....previously I could draw on the image, could edit the lines, copy, erase, move etc. But now when do this if I have to copy a line I select copy and when I click on the line I want to copy the jpg drawing goes away, or if I try to erase a line the drawing will get deleted, Do I need to uninstall autocad and reinstall?

When using the Clipboard to move entities from one drawing to another I need to open the window Tools; Options; and that's it for the Paste as Block and Paste Options to be available. What I mean is do I need to do this with each new session of LT? That I will need to check out. I tried my Template and it allowed Paste without going to the Options Dialog in the same session.

I am having trouble copying out of a drawing (model space) which i received from someone else, and pasting into my own. The properties on the original dwg file suggest it was created Sept 2001. It appears to copy OK (copyclip/copybase), but when i jump into my file and try to paste, the command line just reads:
_pasteclip
and nothing appears in my model space.
I've tried zooming extents, exploding the original, changing layers and line types etc into the same as in my own dwg. I've also tried to convert/save the dwg file into dxf's and other version dwg's....without success.
I have about half a dozen drawings received from the same source, and they all let you copy data into them, but won't let you copy/cut out.
I have been having a problem with AutoCad 2012 LT when a am working in the model space I can you the ctrl c and ctrl p commands for a short amount of time and then they will not work. I can open a different model space and they will work in that one, but when I go back to the original one the will not work. I have tried shutting down autocad and the computer, but when I open everything back up the commands still will not work in that model space. I have reinstalled autocad and that brings them back for a short amount of time.

I have tried cutting and pasting, but without success.
In my opinion removing window with paste parameters like size and dpi in X6 was bad decision.
Now I have to remember to make vector objects big enough to avoid pasting them too small in photopaint.
99% of photostock vector files are too small to copy/paste them without resizing.
As webdesigner I can tell that old version of "paste" had better functionality .

is it possible to copy and paste parts in an assembly but also keeping any constraints set on the part?
I.e. if I had a square block constrained to a flat face of a floor, when I copy and paste the block many times I would like all the copy blocks to still be constrained to the floor.

Maybe it is just the 2012 version of the software , what has changed or how to minimize the time this takes. I don't see any reason it should take up to a minute to copy a few polylines from one drawing to the next.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to paste into this one drawing that a client has issued to me. I can paste into all associated x-refs just fine, but the main drawing is the issue. Before we get into things I have tried all the most common things already.
- I have checked layeer Visibilties and unreconciled layers.

We installed 2013 version of Autodesk Civil3D, and strange things with Copy/Paste from one drawing to another happend!
If I try to copy some autocad objects like solid HATCH for ex,. from one file to another - I select drawing copy from, select Hatch, press Ctrl+C or rightclick > Clipboard > Copy, then select destination drawing, press Ctrl+V or rightclick > Clipboard > Paste, and I see in command window:
" _pasteclip Duplicate definition of block _Closed ignored.Duplicate definition of block _DotBlank ignored."The time interval is very long for single hatch copying.
I tryed audit/purge, and copying the HATCH again, - and now I see in destination drawing some strange array of LINE obects, it is not my HATCH! AutoCAD always starts do temporary save while doing this copy.
Else, if I open new two pure drawings, and start copy any types of acad objects between each other, so all works fine and quickly, no temporary saves, only remarkable pause starts above 20000 object copying, its quite acceptable for me, and still shorter time, than copy a single HATCH.
I suppose the problem is in drawing file, because if we make purge/audit than save and reopen drawing - sometines is it possible to copy, but after all we need to do this each time we want to copy acad objects to another file. This annoying issue have our another team members too, it prevents to do our job.
I found, that with HATCH object some blocks is ALWAYS copying from one file to another.

Okay I've been building random things to teach myself how to use Inventor and right now I'm stuck on a rim I'm creating. My question is.. is there a way to copy and paste a lofted item since there are three parts to it (2 planes and 1 guide) because I need 4 more spokes and if I copy the loft it copies all three parts seperately. Then when I paste and orientate the small end of the loft to the plane I want it tells me "Unsatisfied Geometric Inputs".

I still have a problem with copy and pasting drawings in the right units. I checked discussions but nothing seems to work. To make things less confusing for me I'll explain the situation in detail:
- I have a drawing file, in metres, that I want to copy to another file.
- My second drawing, in inches, is where I want to paste the drawing from the first file.
Let's say I have a line that's 1 m in the first drawing. When I paste onto the second drawing, it pastes as 1 in.
I tried insunits, units, etc. but it always comes out small when I paste it. Manually scaling the files will lose the accuracy.
