AutoCAD 2010 :: Group Selection Set Unable To Select Individual Elements Within Group
Mar 19, 2013One of my designers running 2012 AutoCAD and 2012 CADWorx, can no longer select individual parts of a GROUP by shift selecting the unwanted elements.
I have tried to modify..
Pickadd
Group
PickStyle
PickAuto
PickDrag
but to no success.
Also fiddled with her Options file, still nothing+

Nov 29, 2011I have table, several chairs and some glasses and plates on table. I want to group them and instance that group, hundred of times. Problem is that I do not have materials implemented and I will not until client is satisfied with arrangement. I have problems later, even using many scripts I found, to add material to all instances. Only way is to select one by one.
Other thing is that there might be new objects added into set, so best way would be to add to master group and that will be added in instances of that group automatically, but that does not work with Maya.

Jul 7, 2011I've been using the design group in the tool palettes, and adding my own tool palettes as I create them.Today I login and see that my tool palettes is not docked to the left side of the screen anymore.So I push CTRL-3 to bring it back up.The tool palettes that I see there are the "All Palettes" group.
I cannot choose the design group, document group, detailing group, or the visualization group. They are not even selectable in the right click menu of the tool palette bar. But when I customize palettes the 4 groups show up there, but they are useless.And not even all the tool palettes are there. "Design" is missing, Windows, Doors. Any way of getting my palette groups back to the way it was before, other than re-installing autocad?

Oct 10, 2011I have set the properties in Content Browser for New Project 2012 (our template for new projects) under Tool Palettes for shared workspace catalog; tool palette group is pointing to Workspace Catalog on a shared drive; tool content root path is pointing to a Projects folder called New Project 2012.
When I open the project New Project 2012 the tool palettes come up but with a Tool Palette Group called New Project 2012 with all the tool palettes listed under it. I right clicked and made the Design group the current group and selected Customize Palettes. I can see under Palette Groups - New Project 2012. I right clicked and selected delete and it's gone but when I go out of the project and go back in, the group New Project 2012 is there. Where do I go to delete this group? Where do I tell the Project to have the Design Group be current when opening this Project?
AutoCAD Architecture :: 2009 Projcet-specific Tool Palette Group Not Created
Mar 22, 2011I'm currently going over the Metric tutorial for ACA 2009. At some point, I'm instructed to right-click the tool palette title bar to select the "project-specific" palette (which should be located among the Design, Visalization, etc palettes). Well, this palette is not there.
I´ve checked the project properties and verified that Project Tool Palette Group is set to Shared workspace catalog. The paths are correct (I'm using Windows 7 x64), etc. When I open antoher tutorial project (Steel Framed Residence_m) the project tool palette is there, but when I create any new project or use the one in the tut, this group/palette is not created.
The profile used to create the project is the default:
C:ProgramDataAutodeskACD-A 2009enuTemplateTemplate Project (Metric)Template Project (Metric).apj

Sep 26, 2012My workstation had a major reset and my customization (retrofit) making my group lock key-combo [Ctrl+Shift+A] as it had been some time in the past is lost. It has been so long since I meddled with setting hotkeys that I cannot remember where that is done. I either need to know how to toggle the group lock in the "out of the box 2012" or where to set my hotkey prefs.
It is said that a fool's voice is known by multitude of words... I'm just writing this stuff instead of saying it outloud... that's my loophole.

Feb 16, 2012I have been given a set of drawings (300+) and I need to find where and/or if certain blocks (and other objects) are used in these drawings. Is there a utility program or does AutoCAD have the ability to search a group of drawings for a block (by name) and return a list of all the drawings where the block is found.
On that same topic, is there a utility program that will export all the CAD data from a list of drawings to a .csv file or even excel so I can filter and search several drawings for layers, blocks, xrefs etc.

May 12, 2012I have created multiple tool palettes that i load depending on whether im working on a rcp plan or a toilet room plan, etc. On the right hand side it says Tool Palettes - All Palettes. How to rename that to say rcp,civil, etc? If I right click on the right side of the tool palette & select rename it renames all tool palettes to whatever I type in. I thought it might be tool palette groups but I am not sure. I can't seem to set one to be current. The selection is grayed out

Feb 21, 2013I am running AutoCAD 2010 full version. Every time I select a line or a group of lines or objects. My program freezes up for a couple of seconds each time, to scan the drawing. So a task that should take 10-15 minute is turning into 25-30 minutes nightmare. Every selection I make there will appear a progress bar and the words "Scanning the drawings..." in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Is there some setting somewhere i can turn this scanning feature off? Is this issue linked to the layer states?

In Group Manager I can select my group and then click highlight, but can't see the highlighted entities on screen. If I know where the group is I can zoom in on it and then when I select and highlight the group I can make out the highlighted entities. But its a large drawing (area wise) and I don't know where the groups are.
I've tried various background colors but that didn't work. Quick search and filter didn't bring anything either. Changing the value of the system variable GROUPDISPLAYMODE didn't work.

I have a block for a closet rod and shelf , but it always has to be re-sized once in the drawing so i must explode it. since it was made on layer 0 it explodes to that layer and I have to change the items to the proper layer.

Oct 29, 2013I've been using AutoCAD since R14 and I've never had this problem. Recently installed 2013 as we upgraded from 2012 and started using a license server instead standalone licenses.
I like to setup a specific Group Filter (among others) that has my most used layers (for example centerline layer, hidden layer, paper layer, etc.). I create the Group Filter and label it "EN Layers" (Entertainment Layers). I then populate it with the aforementioned layers and layer "0". Now if I want to create a whole new layer and have it be part of the group filter (EN Layers), I used to be able to select the "New Layer" button in the "Layers Property Manager", have it create the new layer in the currently selected group filter, rename the layer and it would appear in the group filter.
As of recently, when I create the new layer in the group filter and rename it, I can see the name as I type it, but when I hit enter to save the name, it defaults back to Layer1 and saves the name as that. If I immediately create another layer inside of the group filter and rename it and press enter, both layers are updated with the names I typed. It seems like the "Layer Properties Manager" isn't refreshing fast enough.

The raw description inclusion of most double codes, codes with line designators and codes with size and description modifiers does not bring the points into the point group. (e.g. WL S, CLF E, PIN 18 where the description key set is created to size the pine tree by 18 and create a descriptor that says 18Inch Pine).

If using a polyline, for example, to create a hatch boundary, and then creating the hatch, both the hatch and the polyline are included in a group. How do I turn group select off so that the polyline or the hatch can be selected separately? How do I set the hatching up so that the hatch and polyline are not grouped together?
I have had some success using the 'Toggle value of PICKADD Sysvar' and the 'select' button but I have not been able to repeat my success so I obviously don't understand what those buttons are doing.
AutoCad :: How To Group Dynamic Blocks
Mar 13, 2013Are there any ways to group dynamic blocks in AutoCAD 2013?
In AutoCAD 2010, my boss made this block (we call it “Item Num Tag”) by grouping three dynamic blocks with “Group command”. Each block consists of numerical numbers 0 to 9 and a visibility parameter. The grouped block let us choose the visibility of numbers for each dynamic block to create number tags. (The tag looks like “1.00”, “1.01”, etc)
However, when the grouped block is opened in AutoCAD 2013, visibility parameter for the grouped block is missing; the grouped block turned into a single block, no visibility parameter shows up.
So I recreated a block with visibility parameter in AutoCAD 2013 and made 4 copies of the block. Then group these 4 blocks. After grouping the blocks, the groped block turned into a single block without visibility parameter. I am not sure what I did wrong...
If grouping dynamic blocks is impossible, are there any other way to make a number tag like this?
I have attached the block file and it shows how the “Item Num Tag” looks like.
