I recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2011 to 2013 and now when i select an object that is part of a group, the objects in the group are selected/highlighted, but there is also a box drawn around the group.

I having real difficulty finding a lisp that will find and replace blocks. There are plenty out there and AutoCAD 2013 and lower has a Find and Replace Blocks. However, the frustrating catch is I can seem to find a routine that will allow me to replace only those blocks that I select with a selection set of my choosing. The built in function replaces all of them and will not let you exclude some. We have PID drawings that we want to replace valves on, but not all valves. We don't want to rename. We don't need to BEDIT the existing block.
1) Pick group of blocks
2) specify a new block that will replace all instances of old block
3) replace inserted block with different block. Leaving others alone.
I'm thinking this should be easy, but my search has failed. The blocks in question are not dynamic or attributed either.
I have some edges on my models that dont cooperate when i click Loop. They're inline with each other but it wont loop for some reason. Is there anyway to tell 3dsmax "hey this is an edge loop.... turn it into an edge loop selection."? i use the cut tool, insets, bevel etc and some edges loose the ability to be selected as loops

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using AutoCAD since R14 and I've never had this problem. Recently installed 2013 as we upgraded from 2012 and started using a license server instead standalone licenses.
I like to setup a specific Group Filter (among others) that has my most used layers (for example centerline layer, hidden layer, paper layer, etc.). I create the Group Filter and label it "EN Layers" (Entertainment Layers). I then populate it with the aforementioned layers and layer "0". Now if I want to create a whole new layer and have it be part of the group filter (EN Layers), I used to be able to select the "New Layer" button in the "Layers Property Manager", have it create the new layer in the currently selected group filter, rename the layer and it would appear in the group filter.
As of recently, when I create the new layer in the group filter and rename it, I can see the name as I type it, but when I hit enter to save the name, it defaults back to Layer1 and saves the name as that. If I immediately create another layer inside of the group filter and rename it and press enter, both layers are updated with the names I typed. It seems like the "Layer Properties Manager" isn't refreshing fast enough.
I would like to know how to use the group tool in the new autocad 2013, since i found it very useful in the late versions.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with selecting a solid hatch in autocad 2014 or 2012. from some reason when I click in random place on top of the hatch it always select it self even if it's not highlighted. It causes a problem when i need to select group of item which are on top of the hatch with the selection box. I did not have this problem in previous version. i also find it very strange that in different drawing in the same autocad version that problem do not exist. is there any variable to be set to solve that issue?

When trying to open the dxf file provided by my customer in AutoCAD 2013, it terminates with the error message as
'Undefined group code 440 for object on line 4974 Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.'

No further information is provided. This process has worked flawlessly on the old machine. What has changed within AutoCAD? Is this a 64bit thing? If I import the layer state directly from the xref or from an exported LAS file, the restore works fine.
Prior to the latest drawing editor crash, the display in my LAYERS toolbar would always display the layer of any single object that I would select without a command being active. After recovering, I find that this feature no longer operates.

In the past, while in wireframe, I wasn't able to select a solid unless an edge was selected. Now if I click on a face it will select that item, which is not allowing me to select anything behind it. Is there a variable to change the way a solid is selected while in wireframe?

When I set a layer as current, every object or line I select in the drawing appear to be on that layer in the toolbar. Although in the properties toolbox, I see that the line I selected is still on the right layer.
I can't work in paperspace either, when I freeze a layer it freezes all objects. It seems like whenever I give a different layer to an object, it attributes to all object that same layer.
When I open the same drawing in acad 2008, everything is ok, the objects have the proper layers.
Is there a command for that or it's an acad 2013 problem?
I need to export many library elements (conveyors) which are saved in individual blocks to mass objects. I need to convert them to IGES after that.
Until now I have to open every single block and convert all of it to a mass element. This simply takes too long.

Is it possible to embedd data in a table so that a user can select from a group of data within one cell?
I use this technique quite often in Excel. One cell in a table can have various values: A, B, C, or D. While another cell can have a different set of values to choose from: BLUE, RED, ORANGE, or PURPLE. The user can pull down an arrow (similar to a dynamic block) and choose from a set list of values.
I have table, several chairs and some glasses and plates on table. I want to group them and instance that group, hundred of times. Problem is that I do not have materials implemented and I will not until client is satisfied with arrangement. I have problems later, even using many scripts I found, to add material to all instances. Only way is to select one by one.
Other thing is that there might be new objects added into set, so best way would be to add to master group and that will be added in instances of that group automatically, but that does not work with Maya.
