Oct 25, 2013Is there a way to stop AutoCAD from making .bak files? I'm going through old drawings (5+ years old) and I don't need them to have .bak files.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Stop Creation Of Ghost DWL Files On Desktop
Mar 11, 2012acad 2012 is creating ghost files on my desktop. How do I stop the creation of them?The files are greyed out and are titled "Drawing2.dwl2".
I remember having this annoyance, for me at least, a year or so ago but don't remember how I made them disappear.

I only needed a few items and deleted the rest, however every time I load up the scene, it will say that it is missing the files (which it isn't), because I don't want them. May 20, 2012I use CS5 + Windows 7, and I would like to make looping gifs from .mp4/.avi clips. I make sure that I set looping to ''forever'', and that I save the file as a gif. once I upload it to a site on chrome(like imageshack and tumblr), the image always stops animating or doesn't animate at all. I've tried uploading the image on Firefox, and it looped forever on the image's direct link on imageshack. But when I upload the image to tumblr on either browsers, either from my files or the imageshack link, it still stops looping. When I go to a tumblr page to mass-delete posts, a gif that has a smaller size than an older gif(this one doesn't animate at all anymore) does loop. Every other gif on the whole site I haven't made always loop.

Mar 18, 2014In my Lightroom catalogue, I often need to open a raw (dng) file in Photoshop, work on it there and save the result as a jpeg. The jpeg is then sent to a client after which I have no further use for it, so normally I would delete it. However I find that every time I 'save as' in Photoshop, Lightroom imports that file into its database. The only exception is if I choose 'save for web' in Photoshop. I'm told that this behaviour is wrong - that LR shouldn't automatically import these images.

Sep 30, 2013I can no longer make changes to one of my gimp files. Everytime I select a tool such as pen, pencil sprbrush, the mouse icon changes, but when i try to draw nothing happens. It seems like all the other tools work, i tried the following
1. made sure the correct layer was selected
2. exit gimp and re-run it.
I'm stuck.

When I used LR2, I saved these files only if I choose to. I always convert my files to jpg after I'm done editing in PS and don't need these huge files hanging around.

Jan 11, 2013Our client uses CS 5.5, and Photoshop will continuously take control of pdf and html files. This is without any interraction from the user, and after setting it back to the desired settings (pdf - Reader, html - Chrome), after some time (and doesn't seem to be related to anything the user does, restarting machine etc), Photoshop will snatch control of either or both of these extensions.
Resetting Photoshop preferences does work for a time but it is not long before the issues arise again.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Publish To PDF Is Making Locked Files
Apr 17, 2013When I select multiple PS tabs and Publish them all to a pdf, the pdf file that is created has a small lock next to it UNLESS I select AutoCAD's default location (my documents). If I select a project folder and name the pdf whatever I want, it puts the small lock. If I let it put it wherever it wants, it doesn't.
Even if I change the default location through Publish Options, it will add the lock. I need to be able to select different folders every time so I need the option of selecting where to put it.
How to stop it from making files with the lock icon on them?

Aug 28, 2013I'm having an issue with the save feature in Illustrator CS5.5 (15.1.0 for mac). Typically when making changes to design files, we will save the Illustrator file first, then save as a PDF proof to send to the client. Our issue is that the file appears to save correctly, but when opening the Illustrator document a few days later, we find that only SOME of the changes were saved. Now keep in mind that I've only saved the document once, why would only a few changes save from one single save point?
On top of this, our PDFs come out without any problems, and all changes save just fine.
This is a major issue for us, as we need to be able to trust that ALL previous changes save, as we use the Illustrator document to create subsequent versions. We don't have the time to check through every minute detail to make sure that the file saved properly. This should be a very basic function of the program, yet it is creating big time headaches for us.
Could it be that we are saving as PDF first, then as AI? Would that somehow affect the ability of Illustrator to save properly?
VideoStudio :: Making DVD Of VSP Files - File Size So Big?
Dec 5, 2011I'm working in VSX4. I've created a couple of small movies which I want to compile onto a single dvd. The video files from both movies combined only amount to about 3.2 GB, yet when I try to "share" and make the dvd with both of my vsp files, it adds up to be a total of over 7 GB. Is it normal to have this much "inflation" on a project? I've not done anything special as far as graphics or fancy menus or even chapter markers. It's just a handful of clips with the "crossfade" transition applied. And that's it.

May 28, 2013Firstly, I'm using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8. I'm using a Toshiba Laptop with a GTX 630m. My graphics drivers are up to date.
Usually Photoshop works fine, but, occasionally, when I open another file, or make a new file, the new "tab" that opens up is completely blank. All of the files that I already have open work fine, but the new file is completely glitched out. I've included a screenshot of the error. No amount of zooming / resizing of the window/switching from full screen / etc. The only fix I have been able to find is to completely restart Photoshop each time this happens.

Dec 14, 2013I was trying to make an after effects icon on the dock ( I have a MacBook pro running mavericks )I have a subscription to the creative cloud - and have downloaded after effects CS6 . but....
Now when I try to open one of my After effects projects it says " Error message something about I need to uninstall the older version of after- effects and then it listed a preset ( blur) and when I close the window , there were approximately 30 similar windows with the same message , but a different preset,( blur this or that )
So like an idiot I went to my applications and dragged my after effects app icon to the trash ( there were two of them) and then emptied the trash- Now all my After effects files are greyed out with small green text that says "exec"
I cant open my AE(after effects) files, I went to the cloud to re-install it and it says it is alll updated , should I do a uninstall? How do I do that? can I do that and then re-install AE CS6?will adobe make me download the newer CC version?I don't want that version because all the computers at my school run CS6.

Feb 12, 2014I have a problem with After Effects being unable to process image files in the correct order when making time-lapse videos.AE seems unable to identify the correct chronological order from the camera generated file names and the files need to be re-numbered with a number prefix.
However sometimes even after re-numbering AE still cannot order the files correctly and will generate a video with either individual or blocks of frames out of order.
I have another app (Video Velocity) that can also suffer exactly the same problem and which will often process a video with the exact same individual or blocks of frames out of order as AE.
However VV has options to order the files in various ways including ‘sort by file create date’ in which case the time-lapse video will be processed correctly. AE doesn’t seem to have this option? Or does it?
AutoCAD :: AEC Objects Stop Working?
Feb 21, 2011ACA 2011 on Windows 7 64 bit.Walls, dors, windows, etc. stop working. (command starts, but does not run) The only way to get it back working is to do a install repair, which requires the original CD ROM. and screws up my settings.
I have noticed this working on the file that uses a project from an earlier version of ACA.How can I prevent this from happening.

Mar 29, 2012I have defer updates set to on yet every time I drag a part in an assembly inventor rebuilds everything, even though the part being moved has no adaptivity, no mates and no derived parts. It's rebuilding over 300 unrelated and unaffected parts every time.
I just want to drag parts around for concept layout and lying so I don't want mates just yet. How can I make it stop?

Jun 26, 2013I dont know if its the UCS thats twisting or something else thats happening . If you look at the screen print i attached you can see that the view cube is orthogonal but the cursor is slightly rotated. If i restart my computer this will not be the case.
Then the cursor and the view cube both will be orthogonal. But after a while, for no reason it will rotate again and I have to restart my computer!
AutoCad :: How To Stop PDF Underlay From Changing
Jul 31, 2012I have a PDF underlay that is giving me some issues. I locked the layer and moved the pdf underlay's x-position to -1 and sent the drawing to the back to make sure it stays underneath all my lines, but annoyingly, everytime I draw something, it ends up *under* the PDF and I have to zoom out very far and selected the pdf to "send to back" again.

Oct 11, 2013I am using 2013 and my construction surfaces keep displaying in my drawing views. They are hidden at part and assembly level and include surfaces is greyed out but they show as visible in the feature tree in the idw, and in the views.
Is there a setting somewhere to stop this. This is from IDW. They should not be visible.
