acad 2012 is creating ghost files on my desktop. How do I stop the creation of them?The files are greyed out and are titled "Drawing2.dwl2".
I remember having this annoyance, for me at least, a year or so ago but don't remember how I made them disappear.
I have Inventor Series 2011 and regarding my AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 have it updated to Version 3 (Product Version: E.208.0.0).
I am trying to work on some drawing in my AutoCAD and all the sudden the Hatch Creation Ribbon has decide it is going to rule the day. All day, and likely tomorrow too. I am not working on any hatches but why it has popped up. And it WILL NOT CLOSE! If I select the “Close Hatch Creation” panel button on the ribbon, it simply executes the last command that was ran. So, I figure I just close down the drawing and close then restart AutoCAD and I should be good to go. Nope. Reboot the computer. Nope. Soon as I fire AutoCAD back up and open any of my drawings.
We are currently using a networked Autocad 2012 Deployment. As each person opens the Autocad session, several "tmp" files are created in the "G:AutoCAD Support2012SupportToolPalette" directory. They remain when the session is closed and then several MORE are created. The directory itself is write protected for most users (engineers, etc) but open for the Drafstmen to be able to create new entries. I can see why they arent deleted becasue of this, but why are they thrown in there in the first place?
We had over 65,000 tmp listings this AM after examining all the directories associated with Autocad because ALL users were having problems opening and closing Autocad such as 3-4 minutes to open the app, and several minutes to close. Once they were deleted, Acad ran normally and no lags were detected.
We recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
This has happened on all versions of AutoCAD in our office.
I paste schedules from Excel into AutoCAD. I print out the sheets and ghost lines appear on the PDF and hard copy that were not intentionally place in the excel file. What is happening and what can be done about it.
I also paste a tif file on a sheet change the setting to imageframe <0> and a residual line willl appear in pdf and hard copy that seems to be the border of the tif image.
I've created an action that I use in batch in PS CS5 - which uses basic PS stuff like curves, etc and then uses some steps from Color Effects Pro 4 from Nik Software. I usually start the process from the Autmate window and the minimize PS while I open Firefox or something else and do other things while the batch is takign place. Since I have added this new step from Color Effects -
when the process gets to that point, the PS window maximizes, making PS and its windows active again, like I clicked on them. To clarify, the part that Color Effects plays, requires no input from me. I have a feeling because its a third party add-on to PS, that some how the program becomes "active" when this happens, bringing it to the front of my desktop.
Actions that I have created that use only the mechanics of PS and nothing outside of this, never do this. However, they will bring each file they are working on, active to the desktop, even though PS is minimized. They do not, however, take control of the Desktop and make the file the active window I'm looking at.
I'm also in the Standard Screen Mode for PS and I do not use window/document docking as I prefer to have floating windows while in PS.
I am working at an engineering firm. I have had to basically redraw all the openings since our clients seem to be using wipe out blocks for their doors and windows. Well I want to make a beam lisp that will ask the user to click an insert point, width, and angle then draw an appropriate wipe out block with a dashed line down the center to represent our beam then rotate it into place.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was attempting to hatch a simple closed polyline when all of sudden AutoCad had to pull a stunt and give me the FATAL ERROR shut down. When I recovered my drawing, it automatically launched the hatch creation window..just as i left it. However, nothing works. I can't hatch anything, and I can't close the hatch editor ribbon. If i try to select an area to hatch, it lets me select it, but then glitches out and asks me for a base point to move something. I've tried everything, DPLGMODE set to 1, save as, close, shut down, etc..

I have unchecked the <Options> <Open and Save> <Maintain a log file> but they just keep on appearing and manually cleaning them out is a real pain...
I work using AutoCAD 2010 i think an old drawing that i have taken over was created using cad2007, and due to the compatibility issues between them, every time I save the dwg (Ctrl+S) i get prompted/asked whether I realllly want to save the drawing in 2010 format (yes/no) It's always yes.
is there a way to permanently disable this prompt either:
- for just this drawing, or
- for all dwg's i work on in the future
When we try to open/save a file that was started in Land Desktop, we get significant performance slowdowns, lockups, and crashes in Civil 3D 2011. Most of these files only contain simple linework, labels, etc. (no Land Desktop surfaces, alignments, profiles created in project).
We've tested purge, purge regapps, audit, recover, Export to AutoCAD, and AECOBJEXPLODE (which produces errors). WBLOCK is not really an option in this case because we may have to reference multiple projects back to these original Land Desktop files.
Fatal Error is appearing and AutoCAd Stop working without saving my work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with some step files I recieved from a vendor for an assembly. Basically what is happening is I download the step file. Then bring it into Mechanical Desktop. When brought into Mechanical desktop, it is downloaded in metric where my entire assembly is in standard/english format. What I did when I had Inventor 2011 is bring the step file into inventor, go to document settings and switch the unit to inch from mm. Then save the step file and when I brought it into Mechanical desktop it was in the correct unit and scale.
Now with 2012 Inventor, when I bring the step file in, it is automatically in english/standard format. So I save the step file out and try to open it in Mechanical desktop only to have the file back into mm and 25.4x the actual size it should be.
how to save the step file out like in 2011 to make sure the unit is saved in the correct format. This is extremely aggrevating and waste of time. I would have had the part reverse engineered by now if i quit trying to use the vendors standard step files.
This problem doesn't only happen with a certain vendor's drawings either, it goes for all step files I have recieved since getting Inventor2012.
When I try to open a LDD file with C3D, the file locks up and won't open. It appears to happen only when the LDD file has an alignment defined.

At one point, working on a scene in 3DS, I merged in objects from another scene. I only needed a few items and deleted the rest, however every time I load up the scene, it will say that it is missing the files (which it isn't), because I don't want them. How do I get it to get over this loss?

I make sure that I set looping to ''forever'', and that I save the file as a gif. once I upload it to a site on chrome(like imageshack and tumblr), the image always stops animating or doesn't animate at all. I've tried uploading the image on Firefox, and it looped forever on the image's direct link on imageshack. But when I upload the image to tumblr on either browsers, either from my files or the imageshack link, it still stops looping. When I go to a tumblr page to mass-delete posts, a gif that has a smaller size than an older gif(this one doesn't animate at all anymore) does loop. Every other gif on the whole site I haven't made always loop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my Lightroom catalogue, I often need to open a raw (dng) file in Photoshop, work on it there and save the result as a jpeg. The jpeg is then sent to a client after which I have no further use for it, so normally I would delete it. However I find that every time I 'save as' in Photoshop, Lightroom imports that file into its database. The only exception is if I choose 'save for web' in Photoshop. I'm told that this behaviour is wrong - that LR shouldn't automatically import these images.

I can no longer make changes to one of my gimp files. Everytime I select a tool such as pen, pencil sprbrush, the mouse icon changes, but when i try to draw nothing happens. It seems like all the other tools work, i tried the following
1. made sure the correct layer was selected
2. exit gimp and re-run it.
I'm stuck.
