May 30, 2012I have a Drawing that I have been developing as a control/template for surveying purposes. In compiling it I have acquired some empty blocks from another drawing I picked some data from. They are not being used or referenced by anything in the drawing and yet PURGE does not get rid of them. Is there another method I can use?

Apr 28, 2011I will create a great tool palette setup. Close AutoCAD MEP 2012. Open it up. All groups are still there, but they're empty. All content is still in the content browser, but my palettes are empty.

Apr 2, 2012I’m currently cleaning up an old file that is rather large. (so large I cant xref anything with out AutoCAD crashing)
There are way too many “blocks” in the file, about 700 in all. Of these 700, more then 600 of them aren’t even being used anymore.
Is there a way to purge out unused blocks?

Aug 14, 2013Every time i run a project wide purge all blocks routine in Acad 12, it doesn't purge anything at all. Only when i go to each individual page and purge all.
I would like to remove any unused blocks/layers......
Is there a fix or a 3rd party app?

Jan 22, 2013We have a number of standard layer group filters. We also have a utility that allows us to re-create our standard layers with the push of a button, making it easy to use the PURGE command to keep the drawings clean.
We have noticed that once we purge our layers out, the group filters are broken. After reinserting the standard layers, some of them show no layers, and others show all of the layers, neither of which is correct. It seems that once a Group Layer Filter no longer sees the layers it was set to include in the layer list, it forgets all its settings and becomes useless.
How can we continue to use PURGE without losing the functionality of our layer filters?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Changing Groups To Selectable?
May 12, 2013We currently have a drawing with several thousand groups. For some reason (I think it's got to do with copy and pasting) there are a lot of groups which are not selectable anymore. I know I can use the grouping dialogue to turn unselectable groups to selectable. However, as I mentioned, there are several thousand groups to filter through.
Is there a way to gobally change all group properties to selectable?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Empty Field In SSM?
Jan 19, 2012I am trying to leave a SSM field empty on some sheets (Custom Property set to Sheet).
I am using SIMPLEX font in ACAD 2012 on Win 7 64bit.
I have tried using %%U as both default value and sheet value and I get a dot plotted.
If I use U+00A0 or Alt+0160 as default or sheet value I get the actual code showing or the 4 dashes instead of a space.
I have also tried 2 spaces to no avail.
Looks like the only solution is to delete the link to the field and insert it when I use it. Annoying :-(

Oct 15, 2009I just discovered survey figure groups and am playing around with them. Great way to bring certain figures in & out. What seems crazy is that I have to check them on/off one at a time. Am I missing something or is this the only way to add figures to a figure group?

Mar 5, 2012When in Paperspace and using the Plot icon and choose Printer Name "PublishToWebJPG.pc3" I get a JPG created that is size 32 bytes, but is empty.
I need to create JPGs of drawings for a document. I have attached an example DWG and a resulting JPG.
BTW: I did try using SAVEIMG - as JPG, TIF, PNG - it does create an image with the title block, but not the model content.

When I try to insert a new sheet list table, after I click OK in the Sheet list Table dialoge box, it simply closes to an empty command line with nothing inserted. Why nothing is inserted?

Jun 10, 2013Attext output file give a lot of extra empty values when template file include attributes from more than one block.
The drawings I want to extract data from has two blocks with attributes. If I make the template file with attributes from both blocks, I get a lot of extra empty values. If I split the template file in two with the attributes from each block in each template file, the output file is OK.
A copy of the same attributs giving different number of values. (Block REV)
Two template files - 'REV','A','28.03.92','ISOLA','FS','SM','KJ' (Block name + 6 att)
One template file - 'REV','','','','','','','','','','','','A','28.03.92','ISOLA','FS','SM','KJ' (Block name + 17 att.)
How can I get a clean output file giving only the number of values the template file is asking for when the template file has attributes from two blocks? I use ACAD 2010.

Aug 10, 2011I work using AutoCAD 2010 i think an old drawing that i have taken over was created using cad2007, and due to the compatibility issues between them, every time I save the dwg (Ctrl+S) i get prompted/asked whether I realllly want to save the drawing in 2010 format (yes/no) It's always yes.
is there a way to permanently disable this prompt either:
- for just this drawing, or
- for all dwg's i work on in the future

AutoCAD 2010 :: Hatch Creation Ribbon - Will Not Close Or Stop Showing
Mar 1, 2012I have Inventor Series 2011 and regarding my AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 have it updated to Version 3 (Product Version: E.208.0.0).
I am trying to work on some drawing in my AutoCAD and all the sudden the Hatch Creation Ribbon has decide it is going to rule the day. All day, and likely tomorrow too. I am not working on any hatches but why it has popped up. And it WILL NOT CLOSE! If I select the “Close Hatch Creation” panel button on the ribbon, it simply executes the last command that was ran. So, I figure I just close down the drawing and close then restart AutoCAD and I should be good to go. Nope. Reboot the computer. Nope. Soon as I fire AutoCAD back up and open any of my drawings.

Example: If you start with a circle drawn to your set 3 point UCS the quadrants are in line with the X & Y but as soon as you extrude the circle into a cylinder the UCS turns the quadrants to world, I want the quadrants to stay in the same place as my 3 point UCS position.
Not sure if it's just a system variable that need changing.

Jun 14, 2011I just started at this company and each time I try to choose a scale for my viewport I am confronted with a daunting list of hundreds of scales to choose from. Most of them have XREFXREFXREFXREF....following them.
how can I reset this to the default list of scales? Or at least purge or edit this massive list. BTW, the same happens when selecting annotative scale.We are on AutoCad 2008.

Jul 12, 2011Is it possible to audit a drawing with the current .Net API for AutoCAD?If so, does it require the editor, or can it be run in the background to enable a lot of drawings to be audited very quickly.
As for purging - i've seen a few posts and articles that talk about purging a very specific thing (i.e. materials, line types, etc.).
Has .Net utility that is similar to the Purge command in AutoCAD? By this I mean, one that will purge all unused objects in the drawing. I have started looking for all the tables that contain the IDs of all the object types that the Purge command looks for.

Sep 18, 2011I have a drawing with an x-ref in it. The x-ref contains multiple layers which, since creating it have purged out of the x-ref. However when i purge the drawing in which the x-ref is in the layers do not remove. Is there a way to remove these?

Xara :: Selecting Groups Within Groups
Sep 12, 2011I just learned (after 16 years...) that it's been possible to drill down through successive compound objects within groups without using the new V7 feature "Edit inside".
I'd always used Ctrl+Click within a group to select the object in it I want, but could never select just a group that was within--only a single object. But apparently Ctrl+Click is only intended to select the bottom-most (leaf) object of the group (tree). If instead you use Ctrl+Alt+Click, you can click through each level of a group.
So for example if you made two groups of 3 objects and then grouped the two groups together, you can select the whole group first, then one of the other groups within, then one of the objects within that group.
I can't believe I didn't know this. Shows what I know. And what amazes me more is that I didn't figure it out given that you can Alt+Click to select through overlapping objects.
Illustrator :: Differentiate Empty And Non-empty Pixels
Oct 31, 2013I'm a web developer currently slicing an illustrator file for web graphics. Some of the icons and images have shadows, lights, etc, and it's impossible to simply see by a naked eye which pixels contains some shade or nearly transparent color and which doesn't.
It would be extremely useful if I could somehow easily differentiate between empty and non-empty pixels, so I wouldn't miss any when slicing.

Aug 28, 2013Using LT 2014. If I select a few lines and group them, I can select that group, right click, and ungroup them. No problem.
If I group a few lines, then make another group of a few lines, then group the two groups together, then the right click menu will no longer allow me to choose ungroup. Also on the ribbon, the ungroup icon will not operate.
Before this I had LT 2011 (and before that) and I was able to group/ungroup multiple grouped objects at will. So this appears to be a glitch that was introduced since then.
How do I ungroup multiple groups?

Dec 10, 2013I am creating a large form. The goal of the form means I am unable to break it down into smaller forms as there is a great deal of interaction between all levels of the form.
One of my first fields is a multi-value field (Foundation Type) with four options (None, Slab, Piers, Wall). Three of those options have a group of fields lower in the form with between 1 and 5 fields.
(Multi:Value Option: Example of fields specific to that option)
Slab: Thickness, Edge Depth, Edge Width
Piers: Diameter, Depth.Offset
Wall: Footing (T/F), Depth, Width,
I currently disable all of the groups of fields that are not part of the active option in the primary multi-value field throught the (Enabling Paramter Name) option with a rule. This keeps the user from entering values that affect a Foundation Type that is not currently active, but the disabled fields take up a lot of room on my form and may confuse end user less familiar with the system,
The group function in the form has a minimize toggle next to the group name, but the Form Editor does not show any options to manipulate this toggle. Is there a way to automatically toggle this minimize/maximize function through a rule or other means)? Or are there any other means of hiding form fields that are not currently enabled?
