Every time i run a project wide purge all blocks routine in Acad 12, it doesn't purge anything at all. Only when i go to each individual page and purge all.
I would like to remove any unused blocks/layers......
Currently, we have 3 stand alone license's and are wanting to reinstall AutoCAD 2012 for a network for various reasons. I uninstalled and installed the tools/utilities for a network license file however I just have our 3 stand alone licenses. Can I not use them in a file to be distributed by the server?
We have a number of standard layer group filters. We also have a utility that allows us to re-create our standard layers with the push of a button, making it easy to use the PURGE command to keep the drawings clean.
We have noticed that once we purge our layers out, the group filters are broken. After reinserting the standard layers, some of them show no layers, and others show all of the layers, neither of which is correct. It seems that once a Group Layer Filter no longer sees the layers it was set to include in the layer list, it forgets all its settings and becomes useless.
How can we continue to use PURGE without losing the functionality of our layer filters?
How can I change the way the Project Browser maps the creation of new projects?
Currently, the new project folder is created and named according to the Project Name prompt. We want the folder to be named according to the Project Number prompt...
Without our office, we set up Sheet Sets for every set of drawings we produce, and we setup Page Setup Overrides specific to those drawings from which we can print. We may setup one for printing fullsize PDFs, another for in-house half-size plots, and another for 11x17 printing. The Overrides are saved on our office network.
We've been having an issue where the plotter(s) in the various Overrides won't work initially when someone other than the creator is printing. That person will have to open up the 'Manage Page Setup Overrides' tab, select 'Modify' for the Override they wish to change, and select the plotter to use in that Override (the plotter always defaults to 'None'). They can publish from that particular drawing set just fine until someone else in the office needs to print using an Override, in which case they go through the same procedure listed above.
We're using network printers only, and we've verified that the printer names, ports, etc. are all the same between the various computers, so different naming or port selection doesn't seem to be an issue.
I have got a logo that is 451 x197. It has a resolution of 72 px. I am trying to increase the resolution so that I can use the image for business cards and letterhead.
I need for the image to have a width of about 2500 pixels. If I scale the image to 2500 pixels the edges look pixelized or blurry.
My question is: Is there a way that I can make the 471 px logo stretch to 2500 px and still have sharp edges?
On a waterline that I am currently working on, we have existing utilities (gas, fiber, electric, etc.) surveyed and need to display those on our profile. Typically we will determine the crossing locations and offset those x' below the existing ground.
The problem I am having is that in a mile and a half of waterline, there are 100+ crossings. Creating a pipe out of each of those, applying the correct pipe type and display, naming the pipe network, etc, is too time consuming. It's faster to draw them on our profile manually. Also, with 100+ pipe networks, it slows down the drawing considerably. And if we create data shortcuts, then we have to create a reference to 100's of pipe networks in our plan and profile sheets.
I just started at this company and each time I try to choose a scale for my viewport I am confronted with a daunting list of hundreds of scales to choose from. Most of them have XREFXREFXREFXREF....following them.
how can I reset this to the default list of scales? Or at least purge or edit this massive list. BTW, the same happens when selecting annotative scale. We are on AutoCad 2008.
Is it possible to audit a drawing with the current .Net API for AutoCAD?If so, does it require the editor, or can it be run in the background to enable a lot of drawings to be audited very quickly.
As for purging - i've seen a few posts and articles that talk about purging a very specific thing (i.e. materials, line types, etc.).
Has .Net utility that is similar to the Purge command in AutoCAD? By this I mean, one that will purge all unused objects in the drawing. I have started looking for all the tables that contain the IDs of all the object types that the Purge command looks for.
I have a drawing with an x-ref in it. The x-ref contains multiple layers which, since creating it have purged out of the x-ref. However when i purge the drawing in which the x-ref is in the layers do not remove. Is there a way to remove these?
I have a 2013 Civil 3D file, in which I've generated a set of multiple profile views, using a proposed centerline of a new pipeline as the alignment, and the existing grade surface. The profile views are just fine. However, there is also an existing underground electric service running roughly parallel to this proposed pipeline.
All I have to work with is a 3D polyline which shows the location and elevation of that electrical service line. Here's my issue: Right now the profile view(s) display on only the existing grade along the pipeline alignment, and that's fine. I would also like these profile views to display the location of the above described electrical line, but don't know how to get the profile view(s) to "see" it.
Now that details of the R2013 version of AutoCAD Civil 3D are public, I wanted to update you on the status of Google Earth import and export workflows. The following statement summarizes where we are:
Due to limitations on the use of the Google Earth API, AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 does not include API access to allow customers to import Google Earth imagery and/or surfaces directly into Civil 3D. We are aware of the importance of including preliminary surface and aerial imagery in your design workflows and are actively looking for an alternative. However, we cannot share any specific information about potential future product enhancements. When appropriate, we will communicate technology plans via various channels including Autodesk Labs, Facebook, Blogs and the Civil 3D Discussion Group.
As noted above, we'll update you as soon as we can share information on technology plans that target the workflow of incorporating readily available image and surface information into your design workflows.
I am trying to annotate right-of-way, utilities, and wetlands in my cross-section sets. I know that this can be done by creating alignments, but this seems very cumbersome for a large project with hundreds of wetland areas and major utilities. I know that this task can be quickly accomplished using Bentley Inroads by draping the features onto the existing surface and annotating the features in the cross section views.
Is there a workflow that allows the annotation of feature lines in the cross-section views?
I have a Drawing that I have been developing as a control/template for surveying purposes. In compiling it I have acquired some empty blocks from another drawing I picked some data from. They are not being used or referenced by anything in the drawing and yet PURGE does not get rid of them. Is there another method I can use?
Tune up utilities got into my system and was finally removed by windows installer today. I tried 2 times to repair Autocad2011 civil 3d, then 3 times to reinstall it, finally removed all files I could find and tried 2 times to install. Cannot install I get eror 1402 about the key being too full or somtehing like that. It is the student version but I use it for my own use and need to access the files.
The MEIS document for 3ds max URL...., in the Compositing module talks about using the paint tool.. "demonstrate basic paint operations using the paint tool"
the object paint or object deform paint utilities? You cant actually "paint" 3D models using 3ds max can you? the reference they say to look up is "paint" and when I look this up in 3ds max help, the object paint and deform paint tools are all i can find.. So are these compositing tools?
the best way to archive and move/rename a project folder? As the new CAD manager for my firm I am going to restructure our entire server as the current structure is very unorganized and inefficient. Projects date back as far as the 90's and I would like to move them all into an archive folder but also have them still be working files as far as XREF's are concerned. None of the drawings have XREF's that utilize the relative file location feature so when I do move a folder, all of the XREF's must then be updated. This is not an option because I have at least 500 projects that will be moved which would be far too time consuming.
I first had Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Sometimes I could open a project in DVD Factory 2010. Mostly the system crashed.
Now I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I hoped things would be better now. When I open Corel DVD factory 2010 directly and click on "Project" on the left nothing happens?
I have a Project Template that is used when creating a new project. I noticed that the Tool Palette in the Project Template and the Tool Palette in the new Project are not the same. How do I get the new Projects to pull the same Tool Palettes from the Project Template?
I have to set up a project in Navigator so we can get started on it but I will have to go back and change the project number when we get it.
My question is how do I change the project no so that it re paths everything and reorganizes itself numerically in Windows Explorer...or should I just create a new project in Navigator and copy the files I need into the new project?
