Currently, we have 3 stand alone license's and are wanting to reinstall AutoCAD 2012 for a network for various reasons. I uninstalled and installed the tools/utilities for a network license file however I just have our 3 stand alone licenses. Can I not use them in a file to be distributed by the server?
View 9 RepliesI've installed the LM Tools license manager on a network server to distribute out floating license of AutoCAD 2010. The network license currently has 5 floating licenses for AutoCAD 2010. When I try and install the AutoCAD 2010 software on a client machine and go under "Install Tools and Utilities" I expect to see a choice for the Network License Activation Utility. Unfortunately all I get is the options to install the License Manager (LM Tools), CAD Manager Tools, and SAMreport-Lite. Nothing indicating an Activation Utility.
I may just be very oblivious but I'm not sure how to activate the program with the license server when I can't install the utility to do so. Am I missing a step somewhere? I have a feeling the answer is very obvious but I unfortunately can't see it. The SN and Product Key are entered correctly and should reflect the type of license(s) they are.
I installed the Network License Manager in a Windows 2008 Server ( I installed theNLM using the CD of AutoCAD 2013). The AutoCAD 2013 works fine in the clientmachines, but the 2011 and 2012 version don´t. In the page of Autodesk, on ManageSerial Numbers, I can see the Serial Number for 2011, 2012 and 2013 Suites. Why theAutoCAD 2011/2012 don´t work in the client machines? Note: in the 2011/2012 versionappears the message " A valid license could not be obtained by the network licensemanager. If you are still unable to access a license, contact your systemadministrator. Error [-96.7.11001] ".
View 1 Replies View RelatedHere in my office we have several pc's running Inventor 2012 and we found out that when a network license is unavailable (the number of licenses is exceeded) then Inventor loses some of its configurations on OPTION window. The fields that are erased and put back to default:
- "General" Tab >> "Load VBA on start-up" is set to false;
- "General" Tab >> "Update physical properties on save" is set to false and "Parts and Assemblies" is unchecked;
- "File" Tab >> "Default VBA project" is set back to default;
- "Contet Center" Tab >> "Location of Libraries" is set to default
- Customized buttons on Ribbonbar loses its icons and we have to recreate them everytime it happens.

Every time i run a project wide purge all blocks routine in Acad 12, it doesn't purge anything at all. Only when i go to each individual page and purge all.
I would like to remove any unused blocks/layers......
Is there a fix or a 3rd party app?
Is there a way for xrefs to stay attached to a drawing file when using Dropbox as a network? All files are saved to the dropbox which is loaded on both computers that need to access the files. If I do work and save an xref in a file that is then opened by someone else on a different computer, the xref is not loaded and has to be re-routed. Is there a way to avoid having to reroute xrefs everytime someone different opens the file?

Why does AutoDesk doesn't want me to work from home?
I have installed AutoCAD 2010 onto my laptop (Mac Book - VMware Fusion). All has installed ok
I exported my AutoCAD liscense from my work machine - again all fine. But on my laptop i dont have the License Transfer Utitlity to import it. I have performed a search and it finds my 3DMax LTU but not my Autocad one

Trying to use the builtin screen capture tools under Utilities/Screen capture.
There appears to be no way to do a selected capture or partial selection of parts of a window. Instead we have:
Full screen []
active window []
content of active window [x]
So I selected the last one above as shown `Content of Active Window'
But what I actually get is a mini version of the entire Designer pro 7 application Including the menus, borders, and all that guff that no one usually wants in a capture of part of the full screen.
So what does `Content of active window' mean as apposed to `Active window'?
Its really unbelievable that there is no provision like `Region' found in most screen grab tools where you select with the mouse what you want captured.
Maybe I'm just missing how to use this thing, but have included the result of what a `content of active window' does. Its a mini version of the entire application...

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are a small company with two PCs - 1 laptop and a server. We are having problems using xref drawings across the network. The laptop is mapped to the Z drive and the reference file is on the server (D drive). Each time we open a drawing on the laptop (Z drive) the xref files which is saved on the server (D drive) cannot be seen. We reattached the file and it works fine until we closed and reopen the drawing. When the drawing is opened on the laptop the xref is not loaded on the screen. However, the file extension can be seen but no drawing is visible.
In summary how can we tell get the laptop to permanently reference xref files saved on the server without them dropping out?
I want to display the network server name automatically (preferably using a diesel expression).
I currently use diesel expressions to show the saved path and drawing name, but since we have a multitude of servers I'd like to show the server name as well. At the minute it just shows the network map name, i.e. N:, but I'd like to prefix that with the actual serve name, i.e. SERV-FILE-1 (or something like that).
I am running AutoCAD MEP 2012. I am unable to open drawings that are stored on a network drive. I continue to get a "Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0X0000 Exception at f5bfaad0h" and AutoCAD closes. If I copy that same file to the computer and make it local, it opens without any problem. All files local open just fine. Also, I am able to open the same drawing on the network from multiple other computers.
I have tried to repair AutoCAD and check all network settings on the computer, but everything appears correct.
I have a couple of floating licenses for an old inventor series 11 product. The license server is down and I need to change these licenses back to standalone licenses. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as standalone but it will not let me activate the software with the serial numbers on the back of the packaging.

If you open a sheetset from one of those network folders, it will open normally, you can view and scroll thru it normally, but the second you select / right click anything, it locks up cad (grey screen) and shows us the hourglass for 3-6 minutes, and then allows you to work with it, but with a 10-20 second delay on anything you try to do. If you copy the same job folder to the C Drive, and re-open the sheetset, it operates perfectly. Running a constant ping to our server returns a <0ms return with no lost packets.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn a waterline that I am currently working on, we have existing utilities (gas, fiber, electric, etc.) surveyed and need to display those on our profile. Typically we will determine the crossing locations and offset those x' below the existing ground.
The problem I am having is that in a mile and a half of waterline, there are 100+ crossings. Creating a pipe out of each of those, applying the correct pipe type and display, naming the pipe network, etc, is too time consuming. It's faster to draw them on our profile manually. Also, with 100+ pipe networks, it slows down the drawing considerably. And if we create data shortcuts, then we have to create a reference to 100's of pipe networks in our plan and profile sheets.
My autocad 2012 installation runs slower when I have the network cable plugged in. This is very obvious when I run lisp commands.
I have a standalone installation with a drawing on a local drive, also SP1 is installed.
I have a 2013 Civil 3D file, in which I've generated a set of multiple profile views, using a proposed centerline of a new pipeline as the alignment, and the existing grade surface. The profile views are just fine. However, there is also an existing underground electric service running roughly parallel to this proposed pipeline.
All I have to work with is a 3D polyline which shows the location and elevation of that electrical service line. Here's my issue: Right now the profile view(s) display on only the existing grade along the pipeline alignment, and that's fine. I would also like these profile views to display the location of the above described electrical line, but don't know how to get the profile view(s) to "see" it.

I am trying to annotate right-of-way, utilities, and wetlands in my cross-section sets. I know that this can be done by creating alignments, but this seems very cumbersome for a large project with hundreds of wetland areas and major utilities. I know that this task can be quickly accomplished using Bentley Inroads by draping the features onto the existing surface and annotating the features in the cross section views.
Is there a workflow that allows the annotation of feature lines in the cross-section views?
I am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).
For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.
The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.
While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?
P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost

Civil 3D appears to run o.k., no error messages upon opening a drawing...
Tune up utilities got into my system and was finally removed by windows installer today. I tried 2 times to repair Autocad2011 civil 3d, then 3 times to reinstall it, finally removed all files I could find and tried 2 times to install. Cannot install I get eror 1402 about the key being too full or somtehing like that. It is the student version but I use it for my own use and need to access the files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble installing a Hotfix for C3D 2012. The error I'm getting is that it can't find the file AeccCascade.cab. Autodesk Support says this is because the path to my deployment is broken and I need to reinstall C3D. However it looks to me that the path is OK. I've checked the registry and did a Repair with no problem.
Civil 3D 2012 network deployment find that file there?
