I have a Project Template that is used when creating a new project. I noticed that the Tool Palette in the Project Template and the Tool Palette in the new Project are not the same. How do I get the new Projects to pull the same Tool Palettes from the Project Template?
View 2 RepliesI've created a sheet template that includes Fields to populate the sheet with the Project Name and location among others like scale, etc. When I create the new sheet in the project navigator most of the fields populate with the correct information based on the parameters set in the project. However, it consistantly does not populate the Project name and location. When I click the field and ensure that the attribute is set correctly then it renders the correct information. The problem is this ends up being a manual operation yet it still reads as a smart tag. Why do these not populate automatically?
Here's my process:
Create dwt for sheet file and include xref of title block.
Create a block with attributes that link to AEC Project, CurrentSheetTitle, etc. and insert into dwt.
In project navigator I create new sheet and select my template.
Information does not populate.
But when I view the block and close (no edits) it then links.

When creating the short cut folder you have the option of using a project template. Instead of browsing for it all the time , can a permanent path on a network be set to look for the project template everytime?

My question is how do I change the project no so that it re paths everything and reorganizes itself numerically in Windows Explorer...or should I just create a new project in Navigator and copy the files I need into the new project?
I am wondering if there is a way to insert a template that I have created into a project that already exists. I have created a template for the company I work for and we already have all of our plans for our homes drawn up. So I either have to redraw these homes starting with the new template or if it is possible load in a template.

The IFC was exported from ACA 2008 with the Imperial units set.After opening the IFC file in Revit 2012, the project is set for Metric, even though the referenced template (.rte) is set up with Imperial.
I do not have vault installed and I am trying to add sub files to my project. As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.

I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012, and I want to be able to tag the bottom elevation of slabs in my drawings. I found I can create a tag by using the DEFINETAG command and I created text in there that is set to display the bottom elevation of slabs. I'm stuck as to where to go from here. I can't actually "tag" anything with this, and I don't know how to add it to my tool palettes.
When I start AutoCad and also if I try to select the Refresh icon on the Pallett, I get a pop up that says "There was an error while refreshing. The palette could not be refreshed" Could there be a path that is broken, if so where would it be?

However adding new items fails despite all files not being read only also if a add a new palette nice though AutoCAD ADT will create one it wont actually allow me to add anything to it...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with scaling and rotation when I apply one tag coming from palette tool. I use ACA 2013 METRIC and this problem did not exist in 2012.
I attached a file to do the test. Drag the tag to your tool palettes in space and try to apply the design to see the problem.
Does it make sense to use PN for a residential project. This house is in a location that requieres the living space to be 36" above the garage level. In addition the LR ceiling is 18' higher than the other rooms. How shouuld I set up the levels in the construct tab of PN. I am thinking that the garage is level 0, and the other rooms other than LR would be level 1 and the LR to be level2. Or is it that the whole house is one level with 3 divisions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using ACA 2013. I am using sheet sets and I am working on my Sheet Template.Typcially we use a 3 line project title in our standard title block and I would like to continue doing so . The problem is that the Project Data only has one line for the "Project Name".
How can I get the project name to be 3 lines that separate when I want them to, I.E.

FOR

I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.
Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.
Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?
I've been using the design group in the tool palettes, and adding my own tool palettes as I create them.Today I login and see that my tool palettes is not docked to the left side of the screen anymore.So I push CTRL-3 to bring it back up.The tool palettes that I see there are the "All Palettes" group.
I cannot choose the design group, document group, detailing group, or the visualization group. They are not even selectable in the right click menu of the tool palette bar. But when I customize palettes the 4 groups show up there, but they are useless.And not even all the tool palettes are there. "Design" is missing, Windows, Doors. Any way of getting my palette groups back to the way it was before, other than re-installing autocad?
Got a problem with tool palettes ever since ACA 2012. When ever I start ACA, I have to push cntrl+3 to show the tool palettes. It's starting to get anoying that I have to do this, and I can't find any setting that will let the tool palettes display on startup.

The block showed up properly on everone's computer the day I added it. However each morning when we restart our computers the block is no longer on the palette and I have to redrag & drop it. I thought that prerhaps I needed to export the updated toolpalette, but when I go to the customize tool palettes dialog box and right click on the toolpalette I don't see the export or import options. What's the best way to share tool palettes within an office?
I do it through profiles: I Created an 'office' profile (.arg) that I eventually share with every employee in the office. Whenever I add things to the tool palettes, I simply create a new profile for every user.
However, lately not every palette gets transferred. I've done a major reorganisation of the office tool palette and only a very small amount of palettes actually get transferred.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHad file "weirdness" when users place "odd" characters in filenames?For example, I have several users that use the ampersand sign in the file name as in: FF&E HT.dwg.
I'm wondering if this causes an issue with the corresponding XML file since the ampersand is kind of a special character.
These users were able to open different versions of the "same" file at various points in its generation. One was the current version, another was several days old and the third version was a month or so old. Each time the file was opened (on the same day and time), the users did not get a warning stating the file was already opened and they both opened the file from Project Navigator.
We are currently running AutoCAD Architecture 2011.
Cannot find any additional templates for project creator. Quite a limited selection. Would prefer a completely blank page (Cover & inside) so that I can create an image in it's entirety elsewhere & load it as an image. Am trying to find the template in the project creator folder so that I can edit it & make it completely blank. If no one knows where I can download one that is already blank, how to edit the file that the existing templates are using?
