When creating the short cut folder you have the option of using a project template. Instead of browsing for it all the time , can a permanent path on a network be set to look for the project template everytime?
I have a Project Template that is used when creating a new project. I noticed that the Tool Palette in the Project Template and the Tool Palette in the new Project are not the same. How do I get the new Projects to pull the same Tool Palettes from the Project Template?

We have several part libraries as well as material/appearance libraries, and I don't want the users to have to select and add each time the start a new project...
I've created a sheet template that includes Fields to populate the sheet with the Project Name and location among others like scale, etc. When I create the new sheet in the project navigator most of the fields populate with the correct information based on the parameters set in the project. However, it consistantly does not populate the Project name and location. When I click the field and ensure that the attribute is set correctly then it renders the correct information. The problem is this ends up being a manual operation yet it still reads as a smart tag. Why do these not populate automatically?
Here's my process:
Create dwt for sheet file and include xref of title block.
Create a block with attributes that link to AEC Project, CurrentSheetTitle, etc. and insert into dwt.
In project navigator I create new sheet and select my template.
Information does not populate.
But when I view the block and close (no edits) it then links.
I am wondering if there is a way to insert a template that I have created into a project that already exists. I have created a template for the company I work for and we already have all of our plans for our homes drawn up. So I either have to redraw these homes starting with the new template or if it is possible load in a template.

The IFC was exported from ACA 2008 with the Imperial units set.After opening the IFC file in Revit 2012, the project is set for Metric, even though the referenced template (.rte) is set up with Imperial.
What is the best method to re-path x-refs in a project whose folder has been moved. We are talking about 60-100 x-refs here.The originals were created in ACA 2009 and were not pathed relatively; nor was Project Navigator used. We are currently using ACA 2014.

Would prefer a completely blank page (Cover & inside) so that I can create an image in it's entirety elsewhere & load it as an image. Am trying to find the template in the project creator folder so that I can edit it & make it completely blank. If no one knows where I can download one that is already blank, how to edit the file that the existing templates are using?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to say that so far, after an intensive week editing a project in Smoke, things are getting quite clear, though I didn't dive deep in CFX, apart for some white balance and curves modification, so I don't have experience with any other FX feature, 3D, etc...
I like Smoke for non multi-cam work, so I think I'm going to implement it in our workflow.
And about workflow is my question: We have a video format, opening title, footage with TV bug as an overlay, music background, and ending title.
When I was working in Final Cut Pro, I could open different projects at once, so it was easy to create a template sequence in a template project, copy and paste the footage in the current project while keeping the fixed elements on the timeline.
Now, Smoke can't open more than one project at a time. I don't even know how to duplicate a project to have a template sequence to modify each time I need.
What kind of workflow required in order to reduce editing time by keeping a template that we can modify each time we need?
I am trying to create a rhinestone template of my company logo. I have it as a PNG image as well as text because me logo is of the letter "V" in a downloaded font. I have converted the text to an outline. I created two circle shapes with the diameter of 4.3mm, the exact size of my rhinestones.
I use the blend tool on the two circle shapes, select option "New Path", select my logo, and then select option "Blend Along full path" but it doesn't. Its supposed to create an outline of 4.3mm circles all around the letter but it doesn't.
When I do file new in 2012, I get the following message:

How did these old LDD dwt get into my 3d template and how do I get them out?
When I create a pipe I want the name to include the pipe size. I set the template in the commands to do this but it is not working.

I am working on the template for my company and making all the styles, labels, etc all consistent to our company standards. This also includes our standards layer names. There are 2 layers that I can't get rid of because they are in use somewhere. C-ROAD-CNTR-STAN and O_PROF-VIEW-TEXT both of these layers do not meet our standards and I can't get rid of them. I went through every style and label to see if I could find where they were being used, but couldn't find them anywhere. I made sure I check the layers for plan, profile, model and section on the display tab of each style.
Since there are so many styles to go through I wanted to try to narrow it down, so I started a new drawing from the template. I purged all of the styles, purged the layers, but they were still there. I set the object layers all to 0. I made sure that every label style default setting was also set to 0. Then I even created all new styles and labels for everything, did a "replace with" and made sure only the new styles were in use, removed the old styles and did a purge. But these layers still are being used somewhere. I tried using LAYTRANS to translate them into the 0 layer, but it doesn't work. There are no blocks in the drawing that are using these layers.
The only command that works to get rid of them is LAYDEL, but doing that makes me concerned that a setting may not have a layer set up for it and it may cause problems in the future.
Attached is a dwg file that I have stripped down as described above. I am using Civil 3D 2012, SP 2. Where a layer is in use? How you can now find where a style is in being referenced?
I would like to have my parcels be able to label the lots with sometihng other than the Lot # given by the setup of the parcel itself. What i'd like to be able to do is have it label Outlot A - which I haven't been able to figure out to date.
How can I get the parcel style to use something other than the word Lot or a number (given the typical lot is a number). We have various reasons why Outlot A is a needed label. How does one go about getting C3D to use something other than the name template in parcel style. I can toggle the name template option off once I create the parcel. But, when I toggle it off - then go to the name and change it to Outlot A - the parcel label still shows as Lot 1. Why?

For some reason my Subassembly Name Template is not being applied to my subassemblies. This happens in new drawings using the default Imperial Template that ships with the product.

I set my template dwg UCS to world. The viewcube will straighten up, i.e. North points up on the screen. I save the template, start a new drawing using the template and my viewcube rotates every time. I have to reset the UCS to world. What would cause this?

When I open my template I get 2 drawings, can this be fixed?

Or is the template independent from from the reference files and does not need any datum, projection setting applied to it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy company has a template setup with an elevation callout for curb and gutter. The callout displays a box around two elevations (TC and G). The TC and G Labels after the elevations only show up in paper space on a 1"=1' scale, which is how the referenced block was set up. I need the labels to show up in 1:20 and/or 1:40 scale in paper space but only the elevations appear. I edited and saved the referenced block but the changes don't appear to have taken to the template.

Also when users using my template on a machine which don't have ANZ country kit installed, they getting error messages such as missing SHP files, Payload item not found.
How to fix these issue also what is the correct procedure when giving using Civil3D template who are using different country kit.
Does an template already made with all of the SDSFIE layers in it? The airport I am working with requires this layering system and I thought I would check to see if I took on the long task of creating one.

I created a template, AFTER the drawing was created, and would like the drawing to HAVE that template.
I want to set up a sheet set manager template which uses a specific client titleblock, which due to the work I do is quite frequent.
I would like to insert as many fields into the title block that refer to custom properties in the Sheet Set. In particual some common fields point to the actaul Sheet Set custom properties (eg Client Name), and some point to the actual sheets custom properites (eg Title). I have set up a sheet set with a range of custom properties attached to both the Sheet Set and the Sheet.
However, I cant figure out how to set up the titleblock template to read in this information for each new sheet I create.
I open my template file, insert fields as required and try to point the fields to the sheet sets file. However I cant point to the custom properties for a sheet unless there is a sheet open. When I do this, all new sheets are created with the fields using the original sheet values - I wanted to update these based on custom properties I set for each sheet.
I have a 2011 template drawing that I've added all the information to that I know about how to survey in C3D. I've used it for a few years now and it works great for us. We now have to update it for used in 2014. IT has told me that I need to create a new 2014 drawing and bring the 2011 styles, groups, etc. into it that way. I used the management import tool to do this in 2014. Seems like all the styles, etc. came over just fine. Any way to test whether or not the template drawing has any garbage in it, such as purging and auditing, so all the bad stuff is gone? C3D - 2014
View 9 Replies View RelatedI created a drawing where I created a grading object (pad) under a site, a couple of alignements, etc.
After deleting everything to maintain layer states and settings, I saved the drawing as a starting template for day to day drawing (left it as a dwg, not dwt)
When I start a new drawing from a saveas of the template, it says that there is already a grading group named 'pad' but there isn't anything shown in the prospector. Purge hasn't worked. Any ghost entities left in a drawing.
I've also noticed that if you screw up a grading and try to delete the entire site and start over...you get weird results too. It's like it remembers old stuff you did (ghost entities) and won't let you start with a clean slate.?

I am working on a Global Company Civil 3D template. We had about 10 people initially working on creating it and now I am cleaning it up.
Unfortunately we have a Text Style being used somewhere within our template that we want to get rid of.
Are there any tools or methods to be able to find this Text Style?
I have personally gone through all the dialogue boxes trying to find it an cannot.
