View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have a big problem on several PC's with Acad Map 3D
if the users import their old (Acad 2010 Map 3D) files where symbollists and view settings are stored.
After a restart of Acad it hangs up with following Errors (See attached).
We can solve this issue temporary with restoring the defaults.
So the problem is importing old files so i think it is not campatible with this old acad 2010 files.
Is there a way to import such old files?
When I do file new in 2012, I get the following message:
"the following shorcuts in the search were invalid & ignored ...\..PROFILE-2008.DWT.LNK
Profile.dwt.lnk.
How did these old LDD dwt get into my 3d template and how do I get them out?
I have an HP Designjet 800 that is currently loaded with a 36" roll. I'd like to print to ANSI D in a landscape orientation, but D (landscape) isn't an option in the paper size drop down. Printing D in portrait orientation just wastes a bunch of paper space.
How do I change the paper from 22x34 to 34x22? (or vice versa, whichever way I need).
I drew in the wrong template and now i cant change it.

View 1 Replies View Relatedthere is a way to change the template used for a part or assembly. The problem is that I created a template to fit my needs but I had to update it and the update doesn't effect the parts created with the old version one. How do update the templates of the files created using the old template?
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently migrated from windows to mac os and only using this version on a macbook for now until I feel confident to changeover the studio workstation after many years and trying to find some familiar ways around as I have been used to working on LT2004 (although I have upgraded many times I just never really got on with the newer pallettes etc and revert to the tried and tested version to keep productivity at work)
- Is it possible to config the content pallette so I can rotate blocks at the time of insertion without having to either post rotate them individually from the model space or use the insert command which appears not to be as graphically friendly as the content pallette which looks excellent for compiling good for libraries but the option to at least rotate.
- Is there a quick and easy to changing linetypes on the fly from a flyout menu on the toolsets... is there any other way round this without having to access the pull down from the properties inspector pallette as that method consumes quite a bit of screen space?
How can I change the color in my IDW template so when I bring in a model it comes in blue .

What I need is for dimensions to retain associativeness(not exploded), and for the dimensions to retain their fit (i.e. look like they do in the idw)
The Pagesetup isn't showing up in the Pagesetup dialog.
But when I close the drawing and open it up it's visible.
What am I missing here? Still new with this transaction concept...

I want to have an application settings file stored centrally on a network drive. In the past I have used INI files, and for a Windows app would now use an app.exe.config XML file. My question is: what is the preferred technique for storing shared settings centrally for an AutoCAD .dll plug-in? It seems even for a full Windows app that the app.exe.config file can't be located on a network drive, but I could be mistaken. In any case that doesn't appear an option for a .dll plug-in. Everyone comments that INI files "are so 90s", but I can't see an alternative.

change template file for frame-generated components?
I have created a drawing template for survey and I need to distribute it to the field crews and eventually put it on the server. The template contains description keys, point styles, point label styles, custom point file formats, figure styles, figure prefix database, line code sets, etc.
How do I transfer all the external files along with the drawing template? Is it a straight forward copy? Etransmit doesn't seem to do it unless additional files are manually included, but I can't figure out what files to include or where they live.
The best way to have normal AutoCAD objects (lines, plines, arcs) adhere to the Display Configurations.
My original idea was to contain all of the 'vanilla linework' in one Multi-View Block per Construct, thereby enabling me to set the Display Properties for that MVB and have the linework show/hide depending on my Display Config. I end up having to 'edit block in-place' if I want to change anything, which seems to work but there has got to be a better way.
My only other idea was to somehow link Layer Filters (which I'm unfamiliar with, and probably using the wrong term) to the Display Configs so that depending on the current Config, certain layers would be frozen/thawed. This seems like the way to do it, but it is not obvious to me how I might be able to achieve this through the Display Manager.
I need to change the Base Quantity of family templates in CC from GL = ... to Each. (I know there are several different qty, but I need this to Each because of ERP-system).
I use open from CC and place a tube in an iam, and changing BOM-settings to Each on that tube. Then I replace template in the family in CC editor with this file. And everything seems OK.
When I use "Place from CC" and place a tube from this family, everything is in perfect order. The ipt has Base Quantity set to Each just like I wanted.
I use Frame Generator and insert tubes from this family, then the Base Quantity "bounce" back from Each of GL = ...
I need this to work also in Frame Generator.
We have a problem whereby our Templates revert back to a Default state. This is totally random.
One operator can create a drawing with the correct template loading up, and seconds later another operator will report that an old 'Inventor' default template has loaded up. On investigation it appears all templates marked as "standard" revert back to older versions.
I have made the Templates read only, but the problem still persists.

Our office is currently running Inventor 2012, with SP2 installed (Build 219) and the program still seems unable to fully save and utilize a defualt configuration setting for exporting DXF flat patterns of sheet metal parts. Our laser machine requires AutoCAD 2000 DXF, and while I'm able to save a configuration file (.ini) with this setting, I still have to click on the "Options" button and then click "Finish" or it will save to the standard default AutoCAD 2010 DXF file version and our laser will be unable to read the file.

When creating the short cut folder you have the option of using a project template. Instead of browsing for it all the time , can a permanent path on a network be set to look for the project template everytime?
When I create a pipe I want the name to include the pipe size. I set the template in the commands to do this but it is not working.

I am working on the template for my company and making all the styles, labels, etc all consistent to our company standards. This also includes our standards layer names. There are 2 layers that I can't get rid of because they are in use somewhere. C-ROAD-CNTR-STAN and O_PROF-VIEW-TEXT both of these layers do not meet our standards and I can't get rid of them. I went through every style and label to see if I could find where they were being used, but couldn't find them anywhere. I made sure I check the layers for plan, profile, model and section on the display tab of each style.
Since there are so many styles to go through I wanted to try to narrow it down, so I started a new drawing from the template. I purged all of the styles, purged the layers, but they were still there. I set the object layers all to 0. I made sure that every label style default setting was also set to 0. Then I even created all new styles and labels for everything, did a "replace with" and made sure only the new styles were in use, removed the old styles and did a purge. But these layers still are being used somewhere. I tried using LAYTRANS to translate them into the 0 layer, but it doesn't work. There are no blocks in the drawing that are using these layers.
The only command that works to get rid of them is LAYDEL, but doing that makes me concerned that a setting may not have a layer set up for it and it may cause problems in the future.
Attached is a dwg file that I have stripped down as described above. I am using Civil 3D 2012, SP 2. Where a layer is in use? How you can now find where a style is in being referenced?
I would like to have my parcels be able to label the lots with sometihng other than the Lot # given by the setup of the parcel itself. What i'd like to be able to do is have it label Outlot A - which I haven't been able to figure out to date.
How can I get the parcel style to use something other than the word Lot or a number (given the typical lot is a number). We have various reasons why Outlot A is a needed label. How does one go about getting C3D to use something other than the name template in parcel style. I can toggle the name template option off once I create the parcel. But, when I toggle it off - then go to the name and change it to Outlot A - the parcel label still shows as Lot 1. Why?

For some reason my Subassembly Name Template is not being applied to my subassemblies. This happens in new drawings using the default Imperial Template that ships with the product.
I am showing the settings in a screen capture and the results when I apply them in a screen recording.
