Is it possible to set up Inventor 2014 so that a new project will already contain custom libraries?
We have several part libraries as well as material/appearance libraries, and I don't want the users to have to select and add each time the start a new project...

I have a title-block set up and would like a revision table either embedded or populated upon command, just above my title-block. It would also need to extend upward with additional revisions...
IV 2012.I need to make a non-standard thread to mate with a purchased component. Is there a way of creating it in my ipt file so that the hole and thread tool in the idw pulls the correct data?

Some of the work I do is with companies that their parts are standard components that will not change.
So I am using Inventor to automate the drawings based on their requirements. For example if it needs to be 4m high. then to use 2 x 2m sections. Currently I have create different assemblies of the different potential heights that I can switch between using ilogic but I need to be able to shift the top truss arch depending on how high the truss is.
I have a Project Template that is used when creating a new project. I noticed that the Tool Palette in the Project Template and the Tool Palette in the new Project are not the same. How do I get the new Projects to pull the same Tool Palettes from the Project Template?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm recently using inventor a lot. But now IM try to make a .IDW template with my own line styles and thickness and stuff. This is what I do:
I open an exciting IDW file. I go to manage and click style editor. Then I create a new style. Called test style. I make sure I activate my new style and I go to layers, where I change the line weight from 0.51mm to 0.25 mm (example)
I save my change and close style editor... After that I save my copy as template (called test 6-1) and close the drawing. I open inventor and create a new file. Select the template I created. I get this style conflict.... I don't fully understand this error... How can I fix this problem?
When my new template opens, I check the line weight by the style editor but the weight detente change... Its still 0.51 mm.
Is there anything wrong with creating a new template this way:
1. Create a new model for a new client.
2. Create new drawing based on the standard template.
3. Bring in model views and create new title block, notes, symbols, etc. specific to new client.
4. Save drawing as a client specific template in my template directory.
5. Open new client template and erase all drawing views but leave notes, symbols, title block, etc.
6. Save.
The question is, doing it this way, will it cause problems? Will the drawing views somehow still be linked to the template? Should I erase the drawing views BEFORE saving as a template? Is there a better way ti create a template?
I was trying to make new .idw (inventor) templates based on .dwg (autocad) templates. For some reason the type face Simplex is not showing correctly on screen and on print outs. I have checked on various machines and result was same.

what i would like to do is be able to quickly insert a template (layers/linetypes/colours etc) which is the same used in our initial drawing. I'm a big fan of constantly purging and auditing my drawings to keep them clean and in a previous workplace we had the ability to reinsert all the default layering.
I am trying to create graphical linetypes. But after many hours of Google & YouTube I have found out that AutoCAD LT can not produce these. Even the add on software that is available is only for full AutoCAD and not LT.
where I could buy/download such line types, I would be grateful, or if you know how I could create them in LT.
I will attach an image of the type of thing I'm looking for. Various "Block" types & sizes making up the line. The colors I can change "I assume?"

When creating the short cut folder you have the option of using a project template. Instead of browsing for it all the time , can a permanent path on a network be set to look for the project template everytime?
I create an I part and I noticed it creates a folder within my main folder. This introduces a bit of chaos into my folder structure, is there any way around it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created a sheet template that includes Fields to populate the sheet with the Project Name and location among others like scale, etc. When I create the new sheet in the project navigator most of the fields populate with the correct information based on the parameters set in the project. However, it consistantly does not populate the Project name and location. When I click the field and ensure that the attribute is set correctly then it renders the correct information. The problem is this ends up being a manual operation yet it still reads as a smart tag. Why do these not populate automatically?
Here's my process:
Create dwt for sheet file and include xref of title block.
Create a block with attributes that link to AEC Project, CurrentSheetTitle, etc. and insert into dwt.
In project navigator I create new sheet and select my template.
Information does not populate.
But when I view the block and close (no edits) it then links.
I'd like to create a new set of plot templates however, once all the variables are filled in, the 'DRAW LAYOUT' button is still greyed out.

I know how to add a new blank layout. However, I'm having some trouble determing how to insert the titleblock geomtry. I've read a number of posts on here related to layouts, and while they were informative, none of them covered exactly what I need to do.
why it seems that Revit ignores the Project Units setting in the template file when opening an IFC file? Even when the template is targeted in the IFC open dialogue?
The IFC was exported from ACA 2008 with the Imperial units set.After opening the IFC file in Revit 2012, the project is set for Metric, even though the referenced template (.rte) is set up with Imperial.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat I am trying to do is create a custom sheetset template that will have ALL my sheets embedded, that way all my notes, details and sheets will always be ready. I would just need to update some text and details from time to time.
These are the steps that I have taken
Created a new sheetset and called it Sheetset Template
In this sheetset template, I created all my sheets and inserted notes/details.
At this point I thought all I would need to do is copy the sheetset file and all by sheets would get copied too, but that was not the case, just the sheetset file was copied and I have to create all the sheets again.
Is it possible to assign a project number to a project file and have it fill in the project Iproerties field?

Would prefer a completely blank page (Cover & inside) so that I can create an image in it's entirety elsewhere & load it as an image. Am trying to find the template in the project creator folder so that I can edit it & make it completely blank. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to say that so far, after an intensive week editing a project in Smoke, things are getting quite clear, though I didn't dive deep in CFX, apart for some white balance and curves modification, so I don't have experience with any other FX feature, 3D, etc...
I like Smoke for non multi-cam work, so I think I'm going to implement it in our workflow.
And about workflow is my question: We have a video format, opening title, footage with TV bug as an overlay, music background, and ending title.
When I was working in Final Cut Pro, I could open different projects at once, so it was easy to create a template sequence in a template project, copy and paste the footage in the current project while keeping the fixed elements on the timeline.
Now, Smoke can't open more than one project at a time. I don't even know how to duplicate a project to have a template sequence to modify each time I need.
What kind of workflow required in order to reduce editing time by keeping a template that we can modify each time we need?
I do not have vault installed and I am trying to add sub files to my project. As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.

The template location and file is stored in variable clienttemplate (and is not the standard template path set under options). All works okay except if I close the new drawing, when I return to the previous drawing that was current when the new drawing was created (i.e. the drawing that the routine was run from). I get the following error:
Command: ; error: Exception occurred: 0xC0000005 (Access Violation)
; error: Unknown exception occurred
; warning: unwind skipped on unknown exception
I assume this has something to do with the original routine not closing/finishing before switching to the new drawing. This is the last line of the routine:

I have looked at the PnPProjectFolder object but am unable to determine how to create a new project folder.
I do not understand how I obtain a folderGUID or the best way to discover if the folder exists. (I can loop through the ProjectItems collection).
We need to add 30 folders, including sub-folders, setting their paths as we are not using virtual folders.
I am not at a stage where I have any code worth publishing here.
