I'm a web developer currently slicing an illustrator file for web graphics. Some of the icons and images have shadows, lights, etc, and it's impossible to simply see by a naked eye which pixels contains some shade or nearly transparent color and which doesn't.
It would be extremely useful if I could somehow easily differentiate between empty and non-empty pixels, so I wouldn't miss any when slicing.
I just finished making a brochure and tried exporting it as a PDF.
Once I'm done, the resulting PDF is blank.
I've tried basically all of the settings, and still nothing.
I have a serious problem with Illustrator CC. The layers and colours palettes are empty when I open files. I have had to revert to version CS6 which works fine.

I have been opening my Illustrator vector images in Photoshop to save as JPGs today. All was working fine when all of a sudden I open in PShop, Now all I get is a transparent box. On both rasterized and non rasterized images. This is the latest trial AI/CC by the way. Restarted both programs.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy printer (actually, it's a laser engraver) is reading the entire artboard in addition to the actual image as needing to be run when set for "3D" (aka greyscale) images, as opposed to just going to the image on the artboard. It is running as though it sees the empty space as white and it is trying to "color" it. When it gets to where the image is placed on the artboard, it runs the image (black or greyscale) within/on it. It wastes A LOT of time. I guess, what I really want to know is how to make sure the artboard area is not being picked up and seen as a part of the image. I need it's dimentions to be read, but not any fill except for the actual image(s) on the artboard. I've never had this problem in the past with other machines (by the same manufacturer) using Illustrator. I was using CS5, not CC.
I ran this by the laser company's techs and they say it is an issue with my Illustrator/Adobe set up, not their driver.

I seem to be doing something that causes an empty bounding box to appear in my document and when I attempt to delete the bounding box I can't. It always remains on the screen. When I select any objects in the design, the mysterious bounding box encompasses it and the object. I can even move the empty bounding box to any corner of the artboard and when I select an object it will look as if the object has some hidden content in the corner where the empty bounding box was because it incorporates the mystery bounding box with the object's natural bounding box.
I'm running CS5 on a Windows machine with 8gigs of RAM.
I had to reinstall Acrobat Pro X today because combining pdfs was sticking at "checking security".
After the re-install everything went fine with that, but now ExtendScript shows only itself in the application target menu.
(Previously had all of CS6 and CS5 apps in there)
I tried to reinstall CS6 illustrator to see if that added it, got a few install errors, but mainly about not being able to delete files. No luck in restoring the app menu.
If I set

I get a "illustrator undefined" error, and no script execution. in the middle of a major project which includes scripts in illustrator and combining pdfs in acrobat.
Does this script also cleans up unpainted objects and empty text frames? Personally, I don't think so because the check of the script in extendscript and illustrator results negative.

I also want to automatically remove all objects who have a white fill (white background) and no stroke.
Problem is a created pdf-file of an html-file of a table that must be cleaned up. There are a lot of stray points, empty text frames, unpainted objects, white "cells" that are also be painted in the pdf.
I'm not doing video ( I dound that in the drop down menu.) I want to empty the photoshop cache.

It seems that no matter what export settings I am using, Lightroom will only properly export a few images out of several. I don't get an error message in Lightroom, but when I try to open the file, it tells me: "The file '__' could not be opened because it is empty". I'm at a loss, and I have to get several files exported today.

When I reopened it all catalog references are gone- from this session and previous sessions. I tried to start Photoshop 5.1 64bit today, and it shows the blue intro screen with the reading and loading, and then it goes to a popup error message that reads, "Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is empty." I can run the 32bit version fine, but I would prefer to use the 64bit version. I am running Windows 64bit Ultimate. I have been having issues here and there with CS5.5 on this computer. I ran CS4 fine for the last few years, but since after the upgrade, things have been acting weird. About two weeks ago, InDesign refused to work, so I did a reinstall. Then, two days later, I was having other issues, so I did another reinstall. Before that, Illustrator was having issues, so I had to copy programs files from my office computer to my home computer to make it work. I am starting to wonder if my hard drive is going out. Is there an Adobe fix for just Photoshop? I have the CS5.5 installation DVDs here. I tried copying the Photoshop.exe from my office computer to my home computer and replacing it, but it didn't work either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using CorelDraw X4 on a Windows Vista Home Basic System. Trying to "Publish to PDF" produces empty PDF Files, with a page size of 0 mm x 0 mm. The original File has a layout of (German) A4 and a textbox with "Test".
There are no error messages.Even using a PDF Printer (FreePDF XP) doesn't produce a file, but gaves the error message
"%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: -0,15789 ]%%GhostScript Error 1. Error, no PDF file produced! (False)".
I live in the American Southwest and during the summers here the light is very harsh, the skies are usually completely clear and there are few, if any, shadows at mid-day. A couple of days ago a large red-tailed hawk had landed on a tree near where I live and I had the chance to shoot a lot of (Canon 7D) RAW images of the hawk with the bright sky behind. After processing I found I was not happy with the way the photos came out with my usual photo software (Dxo and Elements , so I re-installed a copy of PSPP X3 on my computer and thought I would try to use layers to darken the sky without darkening the hawk (if I can figure out how to use layers...).
But I noticed that when I opened the histogram palette that there was no graph display other than what looked like a single stright line (with no width) in the center of the photo. I tried several other RAW photos and they were pretty much the same - sometimes empty, sometimes very, very small curves, but so low on the graph that it was easy to not even see them. I then tried some of the converted jpgs from Dxo and Elements 8 and they seemed OK. Visible histograms with normal height. The other software I have displays the RAW histograms normally. The distribution is not pleasant because there is such a bright background, but the curves are easily visible and of normal height. I began to wonder if there was some issue with PSPP X3 processing RAW Canon cr2 images that might be causing this problem for me.
My PSPP X3 is up to date with all service packs, but I can find nothing of this issue in the knowledgebase.
I want to move and rotate a selection but PS (CS3) gives the message it can't be done because the selected area is empty. However, if I rotate or move in the background layer or a duplicate background layer the whole image changes, I also move or rotate the backgroundstuff while I only wanted to rotate the selection.

For reasons that I cannot fully explain all my images are now opening as "Smart Objects" rather than "Background Layers" in CS3
I have also lost the capacity to "Dodge" (Multiply blend mode) or "Burn" (Screen blend mode)images with empty "Levels" adjustment layers.
I am able to highlight the respective layer and create the empty Levels adjustment layer, change the blend mode to either Multiply or Screen, fill the Layer Mask with Black (Alt & backspace), change the opacity level as desired, select the brush tool and change the foreground colour to white to enable the applicable Dodge or Burn processes.
Unfortunately, it does not function irrespective of the preferred opacity level. The Dodge or Burn feature is static with no effect on the image.
I cannot recall any settings to open all files as Smart Objects in Photoshop CS3 but would welcome some help in identifying such a setting if it exists. Alternatively, I would welcome any other suggested methods of correcting the above difficulties.
Respect to John Beardy for his guidance and suggestions about working differently with the "Smart Objects".
I would, however, welcome some help in regaining the capacity to work effectively with empty "Levels" adjustment layers.

In Max, you used to be able to void out a texture by choosing None to replace Noise or a bitmap in a texture slot.

I am trying to leave a SSM field empty on some sheets (Custom Property set to Sheet).
I am using SIMPLEX font in ACAD 2012 on Win 7 64bit.
I have tried using %%U as both default value and sheet value and I get a dot plotted.
If I use U+00A0 or Alt+0160 as default or sheet value I get the actual code showing or the 4 dashes instead of a space.
I have also tried 2 spaces to no avail.
Looks like the only solution is to delete the link to the field and insert it when I use it. Annoying :-(

Just wanted to check if there were any reasons I hadn't considered as to why Purge doesn't want to purge certain empty layers. I'm changing the architect's background to our standards, and some layers simply do not want to go away.
All the remaining layers are turned on and unlocked.
I have exploded everything repeatedly until I cannot explode more.
I'm purging nested items and getting rid of points/zero-length geometry.
I have run a QSELECT on all the offending layers, revealing 0 items on every one.
I have erased and purged everything that was on paper space.
I have QSELECTed for every "weird" item on the drawing (block reference/point/attribute/whatever) and got rid of it.
I have locked/turned off all layers I want to keep, did a CTRL+A and hit delete.
I even turned all splines to polylines just in case.
After doing all of this, I still have 9 more "live" layers that do not want to go away.
Now, I'm aware that I have the LAYDEL option (which is what I'll be using here shortly), but I was just curious as to what drawing elements I could have possibly missed so that AutoCAD refuses to purge these layers.
I have a layer that contains no objects at all but which I cannot delete. I have tried LAYDEL, QSELETE and other commands which I found by reading other posts with similar problems. Unfortunately nothing appears to be working at all. I am using AutoCAD 2008.
