Jul 21, 2011My drawing office is in need of a Plotter.
Would a Hp printer be sufficient,or is a Plotter more suited to the task.
What are the differences between a Plotter and Printer?

AutoCad :: Printer / Plotter Selections Missing?
Jul 19, 2013My printer/plotter selections are missing.
I used to be able to select 2 separate printers and a PDF'ing option but all of a sudden they are missing?
The printers are connected via a network, are visible and usable in Windows and I can print to them from other software packages (word, outlook, etc).
I was away for a week and when I came back they were missing from Autocad (2011LT version 3).
The machine is a dell Precision T5500, Intel Xeon E5507, 4 GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit SP 1

Mar 22, 2012I am using PSE10 and am finding that the colour showing on my edited photos is different to what displays on the Print Preview screen. This displays and prints much darker. I am using a Canon Pixma IP4950 printer recently purchased. I have tried various adjustments to settings but with no success. I find that I have to lighten each photo x 2 to get a decent colour print.

Jan 25, 2012I have a Lexmart Pro 705 printer. The problem also occurred with a canon printer. This also happens with both my Laptop ,and desktop computers.
I will edit a picture so that it looks great on my computer screen , then when I print it on good Kodak paper ,it will be several shades darker. The old photoshop programs had a preference so that you adjusted to the printer. I know there has to be a trick to this.

Jul 9, 2013I get a slight difference in color in my prints my when I use LR prifile vs Canon printer managed. The Canon is much truer to what I see on both monitors which, btw, are calibrated. LR throws in a slight magenta cast. Is there a way to correct this?

I want to do use publisher and make mulitple page pdf's and as I understand it I have to use the built-in plotter to do it. As of right now I have to sperate pages with adobe and then combie them to make a single pdf.

Jul 25, 2011So we have a new plotter at work, and I am trying to use it with the publish command. However, because all of our old drawings are saved with our old plotter name, choosing the new plotter isn't an option for all of our old dwgs that havent been set up using the new plotter name. Since our dwgs number in the 1000s, going through each one and renaming them would be impracticable.. but having to individually plot each one is pretty impracticable as well..
So I tried to figure out a workaround, by opening up our new template that has the new plotter configuration on it, hoping I would be able to use it to set all the old dwgs that I have open at the time to the new plot setting.. but the printer name comes up as something different when I try to use it for publish, and if I use it, I get an error and nothing prints. I know the settings used in the new template work, I have been able to print it out. So what I'm asking is, is there anyway I can use the new plotter to publish all of our old drawings?
AutoCad :: Plotter On A Network?
Dec 28, 2011using a plotter on a network. I moved all my plot styles to a folder on the network where everyone can use them and pointed the path on each station. My only problem now is that each station seems to have the drivers ect.. for the plotter on stand alone stations. What happens if I open a dwg on my station and then close it and go to another station I get warning that drivers are not found,the device can not be found. Do I need to copy the driver and device folders to the network and have the settings on each PC point to that folder.

Mar 7, 2013Since we've migrated to Windows 8 64b we have problems wih plotting some layouts. If I select my plotter it automatically goes to none after selecting and sometimes I get the following error message:
Most of the times I can use the plotter in the other layouts / drawings, but sometimes I have to restart AutoCAD or reboot the computer before the plotter works again. In some layouts we keep getting this problem even after reboot. I've tried reinstalling the plotter (with different drivers), tried different computers, purge and recover the drawings but no luck. The Plotter is a HP Designjet 800.

Apr 30, 2012When I try to add a plotter, I get a message, "No DRC files were found in Autocad 2013 - English drivers directory."
The DRC files are in the DRVen-US directory, and is in my drivers search path. I have even changed the order of the search path to place that directory first, but no joy.

The problem is when I go to plot I get a warning message stating that "this plotter configuration cannot be used" and it goes on to list a few reasons why and selects the "none" plotter. Then when at the plot setup page I can continue to plot as I normally would. Why am I getting this warning and how do I stop it?

Nov 9, 2012We replaced a plotter that is used as the default plotter by 90% of our CAD files. When we go to plot it obviously can't find the plotter anymore and defaults to no printer. We then need to select the new plotter and reselect the paper size.
Not a huge issue by itself, but when you have a drawing with say 25 layout tabs it gets cumbersome.
assign this new plotter and correct page size to all layout tabs in a drawing? If not is there a way to at least have it maintain the paper size when selecting the new plotter and not have it auto select a different page size?
