I've just installed Autocad 2013 and everything seems fine apart from that I cannot select my plotter, when i select it, it just goes back to "none". I've had a play around but nothing seems to work.
Since we've migrated to Windows 8 64b we have problems wih plotting some layouts. If I select my plotter it automatically goes to none after selecting and sometimes I get the following error message:
Most of the times I can use the plotter in the other layouts / drawings, but sometimes I have to restart AutoCAD or reboot the computer before the plotter works again. In some layouts we keep getting this problem even after reboot. I've tried reinstalling the plotter (with different drivers), tried different computers, purge and recover the drawings but no luck. The Plotter is a HP Designjet 800.
When I try to add a plotter, I get a message, "No DRC files were found in Autocad 2013 - English drivers directory."
The DRC files are in the DRVen-US directory, and is in my drivers search path. I have even changed the order of the search path to place that directory first, but no joy.
How do I get my CTB file into my plotter manager? It keeps asking for a PC3 or PC2 type file. The plotter style manager creates only a CTB. The old autocad version HAD a "plot style" pic window. this one does not. I want to create a "plotter" that writes PDF's using my CTB file info.
How do I get the built-in PDF plotter quality up to my adobe pdf plotter. I want to do use publisher and make mulitple page pdf's and as I understand it I have to use the built-in plotter to do it. As of right now I have to sperate pages with adobe and then combie them to make a single pdf.

(How I want to have the built-in plotter look.) Without changing settings in my pdf viewer, I need to be able to send these out to customers.
I just received 2013 lt and want to know the best solution for setting up a HP Designjet 750c Plus to begin plotting. Apparently there is no support from HP for Windows 7 drivers. I'm no expert but what I've read it seems that I can use the HDI driver. Go slow since this i new to me.
I've recently (this morning) come into the issue of the old plot printers being saved in CAD files. I've found a number of tutorials online about adding new pages, and setting the default plotter to "none" via DWGTruView, but these are just shy of what I'm looking for.
Is there any way to tell AutoCad 2013 that if the current/default plotter is "None" to set it to a certain printer? I have about a thousand CAD files that need this change made on them, so obviously a more automated approach would be greatly appriciated. Currently the entire set of them has has their Plotters set to "None", and a custom Page Setup configured.
I am using AutoCAD LT 2013 and at the moment i am just using the dwg to pdf.pc3 included in AutoCAD.
All of the text in my drawings is the same font (ISOCPAUS). Up until about a week ago, i could plot bold & italic text using the dwg to pdf plotter. Now, I cannot and i don't know what has changed to make this happen. Underlined and overlined text still plots fine to pdf. Everything appears correct in model space, paper space layouts, in previews and if i plot to any of the printers in the office, but once i plot to pdf, the bold and italic is gone.
I accidentally turned something on in Autocad, and I want it to go away, I have no idea what it's called or how to get it gone. It's akin to the "select other" window in Inventor when you select at the intersection of several objects.
I am autocad 2010 user. I have drawing files from consultants with custom linetypes. I have deleted the. shx file but need to change line type. How do I select the relevant lines to convert to normal line type?
I have a lot of polylines that are all over a drawing from an outside source. Unfortunately the only unique properties about them are:
AREA = .14 sq in PERIMETER = 1-11/32"
Everything is on the same layer, color by layer and are at the same elevation.
Any way to select just these closed polylnes? I tried quickselect but the AREA option did not work (it wouldn't except just the .14 value), and there is no apparent PERIMETER value to select.
I've just installed 2013 and everything is good apart from. When I start up AC it runs through it routine and then asks for "Select Shape File".
I can point it in the right direction, but this comes up at every boot up and I would like it to find it automatically and my old memory can't recall this happening with 2012 or before. I am using an old template file, does that matter?
I have used Autodesk products in the past, but I have never had this much trouble making a single wall. There are no scroll bars to move my view in the blue prints, keyboard arrows don't work, and there appears to be no way to change the cursor type so I can select and drag the viewing area. Is there some trick to it? When I drag the mouse it just highlights everything. This is especially annoying when I am just trying to change the orientation to see what is already made.
I am trying to begin with a very simple project: A deck. All I want to do is draw two original brick walls and then begin with a wood frame construction to place against it, but I also can't even seem to make a single right angle with this. When one wall length is finished it wants to position itself at 15 degre angles, but not in relation to the wall it is connected to. It sets those angles in relation to the compass direction which results in an inability to make even a single square. This means that even though the original wall I am building onto faces a South west 340 degree direction I pretty much have to disregard the presence of a compass and assume North is "top" which is pretty sloppy and makes me question why a compass is even present.
With a north orientation I can get right-angles without any problems, but the mouse is too sensitive and if I type in a length before clicking to create the wall the size ends up much longer than what I define. I can create it, select it, and then define the length, but I can't seem to define which side it expands from and I can't seem to find a toggle to keep a connected wall snapped in place or even to manually move that wall.
Also: When attempting to insert an opening into the wall at a specific point in the wall there appears to be no option to manually define (with text) it's position in that wall. There is a graphical method, but no matter where I put it on that wall it snaps to the far end. It's an existing wall with an existing opening.
I consider myself an advanced CAD user and much of the evolution that hapenned since I started using CAD-14. However, one of the most annoying features introduced in CAD 2010 is the 'disappearing' layer dialog box once you go to select a color. So you open the layer, create a new one, go to select a color just before you assign it a linetype, lineweigth and make it current, but as soon as you open the 'select color' dialog box and hover over it the layer window just goes. I know you can just make sure you do the color selection last, but what if you want to create three different layers and assign them a color ? you have to open the layer window 3 times and look for your layers...
ACAD 2014: VIEWSECTION ->Select Parent View: what is it that you're actually supposed to be selecting? It clearly has to be in paper space. I assumed it was a viewport but when I select that I get the message "1 selected, 1 filtered" and nothing is selected.
We just started using autocad 2013 after many years on autocad 2005. I am working on a 3d model, and whenever I do a "HIDE" command, everything looks OK, but I can't select anything until I do a regen. This was never a problem in 2005. Some of the drawings I work on are quite intense and using the hide command would definitely work with selecting the proper objects. Why can't I select or find endpoints or centers any more after doing a hide?
When I try to use the move tool and hover over an object, the marker tool bounces around and has trouble finding the selection point. When I zoom in close to get the exact point on a line - it doesn't select anything, so I can't actually move an object.
I've tried adjusting the object snap settings however this doesn't seem to be working.
The Select Initial view checkbox in the standard file open dialogue has moved in 2013 from just above the File Name label to the file list window. Aside from the fact that it looks totally out of place design wise I find it obscures the file list. A way to revert to the previous behavior, or, even better, get rid of it all together because I never use it.
I have a set of drawings (19) with a lot of annotations, however I have to change them according to the original text:
Example: Return Air Drive by RAR, Sump by SMP etc. How is possible to select ALL the annotation with the same text and change them for the new ones? Every time that I select by text, either the MultiText or the Multileader objects are selected correctly but I can change only one at the time. Is there anyway to do the changing process in one shot for Text or Multitext with the same contents?
I am having problems with quick select not working properly in 2013 when I am cleaning up X-Refs selecting hatcing or anything else it does not just delete what I am tring to select it just deletes everything. If I go back to any prevous version of AutoCAD it works fine the only solution i can think of is to reinstall.
Is there a way in the command line to select certain objects. For instance if there is a cirlce a line and a square can i just select the circle using the command line. When i try to save as an STL file i can't find it anywhere. Does surfsculpt not work? Everytime i use it it says it failed. Also when i make an ellipse is there anywhere to specify the X Y and Z lenghts?
Looking for a method of selecting multiple blocks that have been arrayed within a drawing. I have tired with filter and qselect however there is no way to filter out blocks by name contained within an aray. Would be great if there was a .lsp routine or arx file that could deal with this.
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz 12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
I have several rectangles in a drawing which have the same dimensions, is it possible to perform a multi select of these items by specifying the lenghts of the rectangles ? I can't see a way of doing this under QSelect or Filter.

I am working on a .dwg file in AutoCAD 2013 , and on one specific layer (defpoints), I am not able to select any of the objects. Initially, I thought that the layer may have been locked or frozen, but it is not. Additionally, I went ahead and locked then unlocked the layer as well as froze then thawed the layer, still not able to select any objects on the layer.
My next attempt to fix the problem was to run the command "AUDIT", and instructed to "Yes" fix any errors detected. The command seemed to execute correctly, however, it did not do anything. The objects on the layer still cannot be selected.
When I select more than 100 entities all of the grip points disappear. With ACAD 2002 there seemed to be no limit to the number of entities you could select without losing the grips, but with ACAD 2007 they started dissapearing though with '07 clicking "View" "Regen" would bring them back into view (unless you accidentally click on another entity). With ACAD 2013 if I go over 100 that's it. This is mostly a problem for me as I use the spacebar shortcuts extensively in creating and manipulating my drawings. I have found other ways to to acomplish my needs such as using the move command but I have much successful history using my old methods and would like to continue with them.
In the Inventor 2012 drawing environment when multiple objects were present I would pause the curser and use the wheel on the mouse to select the object and click the green check mark to dimension a part.
In Inventor 2013 the objects will scroll using the wheel but the green check mark don't show up. How can I select the correct object I want to dimension to?Has the behavior of the select other function changed in Invnetor 2013 or is this a bug?
I'm dimensioning to a mid point of a line that has a center line over it.
When I select a block, all points contained in the block are shown. How do I turn this off? I want to select the block and have only the insertion point showing.
