I have a viewport in a layout that shows a part of my model. I'm gonna create a number of layouts exactly like the first one, only having the viewports move their display a number of units along the x-axis. Is there a way to make this offset along the x-axis exact, or is the only way to enter each viewport and "manually" adjust the position?
View 5 RepliesI have 5 drawings that all have the same model (basically a topo map of a 2 mile radius) but each have unique info, i.e. monitoring well locations, utility info, etc. The client wants a zoomed in view of a 1 block radius and I need all 5 drawings to have an identical zoom. How do I adjust my viewports in each drawing so they are zoomed in to the exact same place?
I'm using AutoCAD 2007 for this.
I am unable to adjust my Viewport sizes in anyway, (wont allow me to grab handles to adjust size & or move entire view port) after they are changed to the defposits layer, I cant change them back to any other layer because when I try to highlight them, it says "0 objects found". Wont even let me delete them, I don't think they are locked, as I am the creator of this drawing and have done no such thing.

I have experience making 3D models in Vectorworks but have never used 3D in AutoCAD. I am using 2014 version. I understand the principle of UCS and the idea behind it but am really struggling to use it.
Currently I am trying to use two viewports, one in top view and one in front view.
I am trying to use the two to ensure I am placing objects in the correct place in relation to everything else. However...how comes when I move something up or down in front view it moves completely out of position in top view? surely if i'm moving the object up or down it should not effect the position of anything in top view?
I'm trying to reconcile 3ds max's FOV camera settings to the settings I am presently using in Resoft Windfarm (a program which I use by imputting co-ordinates and height of a camera point and then specifying a horizontal FOV, which gives a real life viewpoint at the exact horizontal field of view that would be seen in reality.)
I'm currently setting the units to metres, importing my terrain at 1:1 and positioning modelled elements at 1:1 on top of the terrain in the correct 'co-ordinate' position, using the UCS with the exact 6 figure co-ordinate points. I am positioning my camera the same way, at the correct height and exact rotation, but when I specify the horizontal FOV it looks much smaller than it does in windfarm, like the field of view is not the same? I'm pretty new to 3ds max
I have wall section sheets that are best viewed in portrait mode, but use the same landscape page setup as the other sheets in the set. So the viewports for the sections are rotated 90 degrees and difficult to read on the screen. Is it possible to rotate the paper space UCS and rotate the paper space "view" to match the UCS, like you can in model space?
I don't want to rotate the viewports and title blocks themselves & set up a portrait page setup. This is because I'm using Acrobat's PDF maker for batch plotting and not using the same page setup for each sheet makes one click, fire-and-forget publishing impossible. And I don't want to use DWG-to-PDF because it doesn't have any configurable image compression settings that I know of.
If it's not possible, then it's not the end of the world. We have AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD LT 2012 & 2013.
I ain't able to adjust the manholes in profile view.

The model space orientation is different than the paper space orientation (I have my viewport rotated) but whenever I am working in paper space and double-click inside model space to activate the viewport, it resets/reorients the view to match the orientation in model space. It also changes the scale. If I lock the viewport and then double-click inside to activate model space it does not change.
I don't want to always have my viewports locked to work on them in paper space.
When I go to model space I am unable to adjust the view scale. Although I can get to the prompt for a new scale value, the program will not accept my changes. Is this locked somehow?

I would like 1+00 in the label. I am setting to start end to the layout name and mapping that to the current drawing field in SSM and do not have precision control there either.

In paperspace i have a couple of viewports , all nicely set out at 1:5 scale. then i click in another viewport and bam, all the other viewports change scale (zoom out) and orientation. is there some system variable that i have overlooked?
View 9 Replies View Relatedwe have the design suite with Max, Mudbox, etc. I love the rendering and materials in Max over Inventor's studio, but one thing I can't figure out: In Inventor I can hold F4, click on the screen and the orbit now rotates around where I clicked, so I can change and set my view rotation origin at will or for the situation. In Max it seems to me (a new user) that the view rotation origin is completely random. Sometimes it is the middle of my model, sometimes 30 feet behind it and it spins off the screen.can you adjust the view rotation origin like Inventor? Or what is the method for knowing where the view will be rotated from?

After staying away from video editing for some time I have just installed VS X5. But here I can't find the Audio View in which I could adjust the sound volume (using the graph) in the video track. Has it gone away or is it just that I can't find it?
Does this mean that I have to split the audio from the video to be able to adjust the volume (up and down at various places, not just the track volume).
I don't know why Corel made this program without the ability to change the playback speed in project view. You can only change the speed on each clip. When you have 50 or more clips, this can take all day, when it could take a few seconds if you can do it in project mode.

It works for some viewports, but not for others. A "List" of the objects show the viewports are the same. I have a LiSP routine that gets me more info about selected objects. I have a problem of weather of not you can change the accuracy of the calculation of areas in AutoCAD 2011.
In my line of work, we need to find the areas to exact precision, though it seems that my AutoCad is messing with the calculations and rounding up.
E.G AREA - .017666 and turns it into .002
I calculate the Area thorught the usage of Polylines, and or the area command when i need to.
mabye to change it to give me EXATE AREA!?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rectangle that is the correct width (X) but the wrong height (Y). How can I stretch it so the height is exactly 200? I think I know all the features of the stretch command. I can select the right nodes using a crossing polygon and stretch it an arbitrary amount with the cursor. I can also add an exact displacement to the size it was before.
The trouble is that all changes are based on the existing size. And it wasn't an exact size in the first place.
So how can I set the height to exactly 200? The SCALE command is no good as it scales X and Y the same amount.
The obvious work-around is to draw another rectangle the correct size on top of the old one. But that's an admission of failure. Am I missing something, or is there really no way to stretch something to an exact size?
After using autocad for a while, I got some questions i'd like to ask.
1) In my line of work, I have to label the items I draw in every CAD file, multileader is a nice tool to have but how do I keep the styles I make so that it "transfers" over to a new CAD file?
I have to keep making a new style everytime I create a new drawing. I would like for the default style to stay after I edit it.
2) Is there a way or command that lets me scale an object to exact dimensions? For example, I have a 800 by 750 table in my block library, the size I need is 950 by 820, normally I would have to explode it then stretch it manually on the x and y axis, is there a way to scale it up to 950 by 820 through a command?
3) I don't know what I hit, but I can't seem to select multiple objects just by clicking on them anymore, I now have to hold down the SHIFT key. How do I revert this?
It's the part of project: I need read some named Blocks from a sample DWG and copy (clone) them (one at a time) to a new drawing.
There are 2 possible way to do it:
1. Database.Insert - it does allow you pass in location point but it takes whole DWG file not blocks inside the whole DWG;
2. Database.WblockCloneObjects - it takes blocks as parameter but it doesn't pass in with location information you want them there.
I would like to draw a line that is a specific length, lets say 16, that originates from a specific x,y location say 10,23, that terminates at exactly atleast the y coordinate 38. I don't care about the x or the angle.

How can I resize it or how can I make my drawn line to be exact 880meters ? ( I will resize my picture according to my drawn line).
Is there a way to dimension in AutoCAD LT?
For example: I draw a line and when I dimension it, it comes up as 9.32, but I want that line to be 5.1. Is there a way to dimension this line? Is there code that I should be familiar with? I need the line to be exact dimensions, not just change the number.
When you use Inventor command "Inspect" -->"Analyze Interference" command to analyze interference of two component, it not only gives you the interference volume, but also highlight the interference volume area to exactly identify it, as shown in the attached screen shot.
We want to implement this interference analyze using API. But the API sample (in AssemblyComponentDefinition.Analyze Interference Method) only gives the way to highlight the two interfering component occurrences and the interference volume, but there is no way to know where they exact interfere. So how to highlight the the interference location as in the inventor command? or does inventor exposes this function to API?
Using acad2011 I would like to place a border (rectangle) in paper space so it measures 2cm form all sides of the paper when i print it.
