Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project for work where we were given DXF files for a drawing. So I attached this file into AutoCAD at a scale factor of 1. The drawing was originally drawn in metric at 1:200. However, I am working in an imperial file with many other drawings in it as well. How can I scale this drawing up to the right scale in imperial in model space?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I setup my viewports for my sheet I have a viewport that I set the viewport scale to 1:5. This is not showing up correctly and zooms the drawing off the sheet. When I go into the viewport and use the zoom to scale 1/5xp the scale is correct and totally different than the viewport scale 1:5. Since all my annotative text and hatching is set to 1:5 1:10 and 1:100 the annotations do not work since viewport scales 1:5, 1:10 and 1:100 are showing up incorrect and do not correspond to the correct zoom factors of 1/5xp 1/10xp and 1/100xp.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working on several projects that require drafting in metric units and I'm having difficulty inserting block dwgs. into my working drawing at the correct scale.
My block drawing is set to millimeters. I've drawn my block and measured it. All is ok.
UNITS = milimeters; INSUNITS = 4
My working drawing is in millimeters. All line work is dimensioning accurately.
UNITS = milimeters; INSUNITS = 4
When I insert the block, it comes in extremely small. When I click on the block properties, it says it's units are in millimeters and the scale is 1. As it should be correct? except for the fact that its about 25x smaller then it should be. This leads me to believe there is an inch insertion factor some where.
To add to the conundrum, if I xref the block dwg into my working file, it comes in at the correct size. Is there an alternative block insertion scale factor setting that I'm not seeing?
I'm new to autocad and came from Metric system country. now I have hard time switching to Imperial system.
1- is there any comparative scale factor between metric and imperial? for instance 1:20, 1:50, 1:250 and so on, compare to what in imperial?.
2 - in the unit dialogue box, if i use metric i only can choose Decimal not any other options like Architectural , engineering..etc. right?
3- if I want to draw in cm or m not millimeter I mean input my distance in cm or m while drawing how to do it?
4- if I want to open a metric drawing in a imperial model space how to switch from M to inch.
I have created a project in a metric template, then found that the scale factor is haywire. Is there some way to rest the template with out loosing my work or changing anything other than the physical line properties?
Second, I have loaded the same file onto another students file who's scale factor is A OK and metric. My file LOOKS fine but when i start to add lines or dimension all the properties are imperial.
I am working on automating page setups in model space and am looking for a way to set the plot scale equal to the annotation scale for scaled drawings with
(setvar "filedia" 0)
(setq a (getstring (getvar "cannoscale")))
(command "-plot" "YES" "MODEL" "" "" "" "" "" "" !A "" "" "" "" "" "" "_Y" "_N")
Setting the plot scale with !A causes the lisp to fail. However, when running each prompt through the command line individually, !A works fine. what is missing?
how to scale out these drawings. I have a CAD drawing using metric scale. This drawing has multiple title blocks. and each title block has its own scale. 1:500, 1:50, 1:150, 1:75. Now I make a block out of each title block and scale them out to find out if they plot out on the same sheet, and they do. Now, I still can't find out the scale factor to print them out to scale. I tried using using the scale shown in for each drawing for example 1:500 and it is super small when I do a print preview.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a block that i would like to scale based on the plot scale when plotting.
We set up our drawings full size and occasionally we want to plot them at half size. We do this by setting the plot scale to 1:2 (custom) in the plotting dialog. We have a few blocks that we want to print at the same size on paper, essentially become twice as big.
Is there is a way to fix the size or just set a few scale states and have them automatically adjust based on the plot scale (not drawing/annotative scale)?
I work in autocad 2010 and I draw in scale 1:1 . What an annotation scale is, moreover I have never used annotative objects in my drawings.
Nonetheless, when I try to plot a drawing, while I am in the model view, I choose the scale in mm/units, I select the plot area and when I press preview or plot, I get the message THE ANNOTATION SCALE IS NOT EQUAL TO THE PLOT SCALE. DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?
I press yes, I print it and the outcome is always a bit smaller than it should be.
When i am in the layout mode and I try to plot, I dont get this message. But I dont know how scaling works in this case. For example I want to plot in a A4 paper, scale 1:100. So I type 1000mm/100units, as I did in the model mode, but the result is wrong.
I do warehouse layouts: circles, squares and rectangles. I don't know a thing about these scales.
I get this message when i try to print D-size drawing. Received this drawing from outside source and need to print.
When converting metric 3d polylines to feature lines with units set on metric, drawing properties metric and using the australia/new zealand settings and command "create featureline from objects", for some reason the resulting 3d featurelines end up imperial?

I am using autoCAD 2011. I have a problem. If I do a drawing in autoCAD in mesarments that they should be in real life. For example if wall is 9000mm long I type in 9000. Building plan like that is easier for me. But problem comes when I try to plot it to scale 1:100 for ISO A3 paper (420x297) How Can I make it fit perfectly and be in-scale?
And another question. If I want to have a frame around my drawing and corner frame with name of the work, who did it etc etc. so I don't have to do it over and over again on every single new drawing. How can I do it? I heared I can use blocks. But how do I fit my block to a certain scale? If I make my block in 420x297 which is A3 standard and do a drawing with 1000- mesarments than it simply will be small for it.
I don't know how to plot/scale from layout. I have drawing in model that wont show in layout. Drawing is in scale 1:1 in mm. i have to plot it on 36" paper in scale 1:500. I saw someone scaling it with commands something like, z-s-1xp, an ucs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing I want to plot to 1/8" Scale. I'm drawing at 1:1 scale and When zooming in to draw my line weights look accurate, however when I zoom out to view my whole drawing lines are to thick/blotchy and shapes are distorted. I've played with plot styles, dimension styles and my line weights ... nothing seems to solve this. I believe it has something to do with the size of my drawing.
I attached a drawing.
I have several dxf files that were provided for laser cutting purposes. I have attached one file as an example. I am able to open the file and choose layout 1 and print. If I choose a 1:1 scale the image is very tiny in the corner of the page. If I leave the settings alone and just print, it is a full page, but the part on the paper is not the correct dimensions. The dimensions are in the gif file I also attached.
When I print the dxf file the gap between two of the holes, for example, that should be 70mm is actually like 95 or so. I have acad lt 2004 but also trueview 2011.
I have a problem when I am trying to plot auto-cad drawing. I have tried to set the scale in layout to 1/8" : 1' and I create a page set up and choose 24x36 paper size then when I try to print leaving the scale at the printer window to be 1:1 but when I press preview to see how the plot going to be, the drawing became very small at the lower left corner of the paper.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to plot a set of drawings that need to be set at 1:1. Every time I pick Custom or 1:1 and set it to 1mm = 1unit, AutoCAD immediately switches it to whatever 1:1_6 is, leaving me with a bunch of empty space around all my viewports.
I'm fairly new at using paper space, and I've never used a plot scale that have underscores in them, so I don't even know what they're representing.
Could we can use 1 ctb file for all drawing scale? The problem is the lineweight at 1:100 is OK but at 1:5 it is quite light.
Could we use scale lineweght?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to plot a map at on 24 x 36 paper and keep it to scale. It appears I have all of the correct settings including 1"=1', fit to paper is unchecked, etc. My print preview comes across correctly but when I go to plot a message appears in the command line stating
Effective plotting area: 26.00 wide by 18.00 high
Effective plotting area: 13.63 wide by 6.22 high
Plotting viewport 2.
Effective plotting area: 13.77 wide by 6.25 high
Plotting viewport 3.
Plotting viewport 1.
The plot then comes out on paper way larger then 24x36 and the area plotted is limited to the 13.77 x 6.25. My co-worker opened the drawing and printed it to scale on 24x36 no problem. What gives? I cannot find a setting to get it to plot correctly.
Why in some of my drawings I am not able to select the "scale lineweights" check box in the plotting dialog? I am using 2002. I can't seem to find any differences in these dwgs?
