AutoCAD 2010 :: How To plot A Metric Scaled Drawing
Feb 28, 2012If you draw in decimal how do you plot in a 1:100 etc scale, i.e. how to plot a metic, scaled drawing.

We have some machines which seem to work in imperial maesurement a dn others which work in metric. it is frustrating when trying to insert a map block that is metric and is inserting into a drawing which is set up as imperial. We have tried using the - dwgunits to change to mm, and then using insunits , insunitsdef source and insunitsdeftarget to 0, this works when the PC is currentyl in use. when shut down and restarted it reverts back to imperial setting.
Am i right in thinking this is something that needs to be done at the software installation stage to make it default to metric everytime?
I am using 2012 and i would like to enter my dimensions in imperial into a metric drawing with autocad doing an automatic conversion. So let's say i write this:
12'-8-1/2"
Autocad has to take it like that into the metric drawing then, he has to convert this to 3873.5 mm. Is there a code i can put into some autocad file to make this software work like that?
where should i set the scale in the page setup manager or in the layout after i double click on the viewport i get the scale in right corner.
and iam working on the metric units.
I am trying to plot a drawing with a viewport (of a 3D planview) in paperspace. The viewport has the "3D Hidden" shade plot property applied. The plot preview shows all the entities color-by-layer. I am plotting with a plot style that assigns all colors to black. Typically the plot preview shows all linework black when plotting with this plot style applied. The resulting plot (from an Oce tds700) shows the linework in a "grayscale" quality, not the normal solid black linework typically associated with a 2D viewport plotted on the same plotter with same plot style.

I have a drawing which I need to copy & paste into a new CAD document. It is a base build drawing that has been scaled 1:100 within the model space. I am trying to copy & paste it into a CAD template document however it is not converting the scale 1:1: the scale I want to work in and the selected scaled within the template. Do I need to convert the base build AutoCAD model space to 1:1 and then copy & paste it across?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using ACAD 12 and am trying to obtain a TIFF image of my drawing, but the linewidths do not seem to be registering. I know this because if I change the output device to PDF or to our printer, they show up (and show up in the preview), but when TIFF is selected, all linewidths seem to revert to 0.0000. Any thoughts? I am plotting in B/W exclusively.

Using Civil 3D 2013Coordinates coming out of survey equipment are modified state plane GROUND (scaled up from the origin by the combined factor).Drawing is setup with state plane coordinate system with user defined transformation to establish geodetic reference and the ability to label lat/long or import Bing map data.Survey database is setup with "No Datum, No Projection" (data is already at ground, I don't want ot transformed).Import style is PNEZD and is set to use Northing/Easting not Grid Northing/Grid Easting. After importing points into survey database, coordinates of survey points match the CSV. This is good. After importing points from database to drawing, they are taken as grid coordinates, are scaled again and are off ~5,300 feet northeast. Why would Civil 3D assume the points in the database are grid and scale them when the import style used did not specify grid? Is there a setting or something I can do to tell Civil 3D to leave my coordinates alone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make an ATTDEF (in combination with a circle/reference object) to show coordinates in meters, even though the drawing units are in mm.
The general drawing units may not be changed. I want the output to be 7,453 rather than 7453. Yes, with comma and three decimals.. But how ?
When converting metric 3d polylines to feature lines with units set on metric, drawing properties metric and using the australia/new zealand settings and command "create featureline from objects", for some reason the resulting 3d featurelines end up imperial?

I need to submit a metric drawing for a proposed borehole amongst utilities that I have been forwarded in .dwg format. The scale needs to be 1:250. I have copied and pasted the utilities information into a new drawing, where I've added my borehole with dimensions, company title block, and some additional notation.
In a system where scaling seems to be varied by zooming, plotting, and drawing - how do I achieve 1:250 scale for submission of this plan?

Wondering if there's a way to enter imperial units in command line of a metric drawin and have it convert imperial to metric.
IE. I'm constantly taking field site dimensions in imperial and it'd be useful if i didn't have to do conversion every time.
i have a drawing from a client that is in metric and i need to print the drawings in inches in 1:1 for my boss. i should know this but it seems to be a bigger problem than i thought.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to get a dwg file of the metric sheets, A0, A1, A2, A3, A4. I have seen these in the past, as a template in autocad but can't find them in AutoCAD2012. I need them with titleblock intact as I need to copy their format, and I would find it easier to just rearrange an existing sheet. I need the A4 as soon as possible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am updating a drawing that someone has sent me. The drawings are to be scaled in 1/2"=1'-0", but the drawings are all done in metric. So I reset the scale list and set it at 1/2"=1'-0" in paper space ( the paper size I am working with is 8.5" x 11") when I click on the 1/2" scale my drawing becomes huge and I cant see all of it. In page setup manager I have the plot scale at 1:1 and right below that it says 1 mm and under that 1 units. In model space the drawings have been done in 1:100.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe do most of our drawing in 2D – quaint I know, but that’s the way the office works. On occasion we’ll do something as a solid model to guide a client understand a complex roof or a clearance problem. We started a model for a project we are working on and ended up using it as building elevations.
The problem is with plotting. If I use our standard office CTB (which is set to print as black), I get color printouts no matter what I try. I have tried using an STB and changing all our layer colors to “7” in an attempt to make it print black, but I'm getting extremely undesirable - seemingly random - line weight results.
The client wants the next project done in 3D as well and I’d like to be able to have the elevations look right.
Is there a way to apply plot styles and line weights to a dwg file like 'dwf ePlot' does but keeping the results in .dwg format?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I setup my viewports for my sheet I have a viewport that I set the viewport scale to 1:5. This is not showing up correctly and zooms the drawing off the sheet. When I go into the viewport and use the zoom to scale 1/5xp the scale is correct and totally different than the viewport scale 1:5. Since all my annotative text and hatching is set to 1:5 1:10 and 1:100 the annotations do not work since viewport scales 1:5, 1:10 and 1:100 are showing up incorrect and do not correspond to the correct zoom factors of 1/5xp 1/10xp and 1/100xp.

When I use the pdf plot drivers from AutoCAD or the export to pdf option the resulting pdf is not available to the other computer trying to access it through a shared folder.
When I plot to pdf with batch plot or export the drawing to pdf and save the file in the shared folder, the other computer can not open the pdf (file not found) or attach the file to an email (you do not have permission)
Why is this? All other files share and open fine. Only pdf files from batch plot, plot to dwg to pc3, or export to pdf. This is a pain and I still have to use another plot driver (cutepdf) to get a fully useable pdf for our office.

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to scale out these drawings. I have a CAD drawing using metric scale. This drawing has multiple title blocks. and each title block has its own scale. 1:500, 1:50, 1:150, 1:75. Now I make a block out of each title block and scale them out to find out if they plot out on the same sheet, and they do. Now, I still can't find out the scale factor to print them out to scale. I tried using using the scale shown in for each drawing for example 1:500 and it is super small when I do a print preview.
