AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Get DWG File Of Metric Sheets
Jul 27, 2012
I would like to get a dwg file of the metric sheets, A0, A1, A2, A3, A4. I have seen these in the past, as a template in autocad but can't find them in AutoCAD2012. I need them with titleblock intact as I need to copy their format, and I would find it easier to just rearrange an existing sheet. I need the A4 as soon as possible.
When converting metric 3d polylines to feature lines with units set on metric, drawing properties metric and using the australia/new zealand settings and command "create featureline from objects", for some reason the resulting 3d featurelines end up imperial?
I am updating a drawing that someone has sent me. The drawings are to be scaled in 1/2"=1'-0", but the drawings are all done in metric. So I reset the scale list and set it at 1/2"=1'-0" in paper space ( the paper size I am working with is 8.5" x 11") when I click on the 1/2" scale my drawing becomes huge and I cant see all of it. In page setup manager I have the plot scale at 1:1 and right below that it says 1 mm and under that 1 units. In model space the drawings have been done in 1:100.
When I setup my viewports for my sheet I have a viewport that I set the viewport scale to 1:5. This is not showing up correctly and zooms the drawing off the sheet. When I go into the viewport and use the zoom to scale 1/5xp the scale is correct and totally different than the viewport scale 1:5. Since all my annotative text and hatching is set to 1:5 1:10 and 1:100 the annotations do not work since viewport scales 1:5, 1:10 and 1:100 are showing up incorrect and do not correspond to the correct zoom factors of 1/5xp 1/10xp and 1/100xp.
We have some machines which seem to work in imperial maesurement a dn others which work in metric. it is frustrating when trying to insert a map block that is metric and is inserting into a drawing which is set up as imperial. We have tried using the - dwgunits to change to mm, and then using insunits , insunitsdef source and insunitsdeftarget to 0, this works when the PC is currentyl in use. when shut down and restarted it reverts back to imperial setting.
Am i right in thinking this is something that needs to be done at the software installation stage to make it default to metric everytime?
I am using 2012 and i would like to enter my dimensions in imperial into a metric drawing with autocad doing an automatic conversion. So let's say i write this:
12'-8-1/2"
Autocad has to take it like that into the metric drawing then, he has to convert this to 3873.5 mm. Is there a code i can put into some autocad file to make this software work like that?
Is there anyway to create 1 PDF from a multi-sheet AutoCAD drawing other than merging several PDF's together. I can create a PDF of a multi-sheet Inventor drawing in one step?
I'm working on a project for work where we were given DXF files for a drawing. So I attached this file into AutoCAD at a scale factor of 1. The drawing was originally drawn in metric at 1:200. However, I am working in an imperial file with many other drawings in it as well. How can I scale this drawing up to the right scale in imperial in model space?
I have to two sheets layed out in one drawing in Auto CAD 2012, a tilte sheet and the building plan. How can I send that to one PDF file (one PDF file with both sheets) using the 'DWG to PDF.pc3' option?
I am using acad 2011, and have noticed that when using the publish command, for more than about 15 sheets, it always drops one sheet, and duplicates one, so I always come out with the correct number of pages, but 1 is gone and one has 2 copies.
Inventor 2013- I have to build a tool which I use all english but the base part the tool is making is in a iges file that is when I load is metric. Is there a way to convert this or do i have to redraw this?
I am using Rel. 2012. I would like to hear what some of the practices are regarding a general note used on multiple plan sheets. What I have is a plan set with 150 sheets. On each sheet a general note is required that likely will be revised by agencies reviewing the plans. Currently I have a base cadd file with the note and I x-ref that drawing into each sheet.
When drafting either in model space or paperspace, eventually either the command line disappears completely "OR" the command line area increases and prevents me from seeing the tab sheets for accessing paperspace "OR" the mouse arrow gets stuck outside of the drawing area. This is the most non-productive program here after all these years (the worst version ever)
I either have to do one of the following, in order, hopefully to achieve being able to continue to draft;
1. double click the 2D Wireframe in the upper LH corner of the drawing plane. 2. envoke "Task Manager" but then cancel. 3. turn off the Autocad program and start over.
How to open multiple sheets using sheet set manager? In our office we have some machines that do and some that don't. Is there a variable to change? I know its possible I just don't know how to do it.
How to automatically renumber the sheets if re-sorting occurs?
I’m not sure if there is a way to automatically renumber the sheets in sequential order in case of re-sorting the sheets. This might occur very often during the work!
For example, in the screenshot below, I wanted to re-numbering the sheets AUTOMATICALLY such that the numbers of the sheets starts from 1 to 6.
Then how to automatically re-number the sheets in sequential order automatically?
shouldn't sheets marked as "exclude from count" not be counted?
I tried this in both 2013 and 2012 to see if maybe AutoDesk broke it, but it doesn't work in either one. This is easily reproducible for me, a file shouldn't be necessary. Just open up (or create) a multi sheet drawing. Go to edit sheet on one or two of them and check the "exclude form count" box. Now create a new iLogic rule and put the following line into it:
MsgBox("This is the number of sheets in the drawing: " & ThisDoc.Document.Sheets.Count, VBOkOnly, "Number of Sheets")
How to automatically print the layers of a drawing in separate sheets in one go?
I wanted to print the layers of a particular drawing each in separate sheet but wondering if there might be an automated way to do so. For example, if I a particular drawing comprise 15 layers then how to print each one of these layers in a separate sheet.
Sure, there might be more than one way to achieve this (like controlling the “plot” feature on the “layer properties manager” but what I’m looking for is an automated way to print all the 15 layers separately in one go.
I would like to use Drag2PDF to create my PDF, and I want to automate the printing process. I want to print all sheets as a one PDF file. I have created a simple C# code, which prints to PDF, but I have one problem... When I submit the print a dialogue will appear (from the Drag2PDF) which asks for the file to be saved (location and name) How can I automate this?
I may not use pdfAddIn.SaveCopyAs, it makes my PDF not good.
To convert from imperial to metric multiply the length, in inches, by 25.4 (the number of millimeters per inch).
Example: 3 inches converted to millimeters is 3*25.4 or 76.2mm.
To convert from metric to imperial multiply the length, in millimeters, by 0.03937 (the number of inches in a millimeter). For greater accuracy use 0.03937008.
Example: 100 millimeters converted to inches is 100*0.03937 or 3.937 inches.
I've got to plot several "half-size" sets of drawings (originally 24x36 drawings) and I am trying to minimize paper waste. I thought there was a way to set the drawings to fit multiple copies side by side but I am at a loss right now.

Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.
Sometimes when I print multiple sheets to a Combined PDF file Revit goes through the process and combines all of the sheets in one PDF file but then it continues to re- print the PDF file as many times as the number of sheets.
