AutoCAD 2010 :: Missing Command Line And Tab Sheets For Paperspace
Aug 28, 2012
When drafting either in model space or paperspace, eventually either the command line disappears completely "OR" the command line area increases and prevents me from seeing the tab sheets for accessing paperspace "OR" the mouse arrow gets stuck outside of the drawing area. This is the most non-productive program here after all these years (the worst version ever)
I either have to do one of the following, in order, hopefully to achieve being able to continue to draft;
1. double click the 2D Wireframe in the upper LH corner of the drawing plane.
2. envoke "Task Manager" but then cancel.
3. turn off the Autocad program and start over.
I'm looking for a lisp that will allow me to switch from Model Space to Paper Space and vice versa.Looking for another option other then the "Quick View Layout/Drawings".
without reiterating a lot of what is said in this thread: [URL] ......
This happen outside the potential malware infection?
if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:
I've just discovered my Command Line Box at the bottom of the screen is missing in action...not sure what I did to loose it. Any COMMAND to get it back?
I used to have my ribbon and commandline next to each other but now whenever I try and put them back next to each other it always ends up with one on top or one on the bottom. I added a picture to try and explain this!
I recently switched from LDD to Civil 3D 2010 and have since had problems with the command line recognizing Alt Codes when entering leader text. After the leader command is finalized, I am able to edit the MTEXT which does recognize the alt codes. I use alt codes for various symbols and now have to edit leader MTEXT each time in order for the symbols to be recognized. Is there a toggle or some other setting in later versions of AutoCAD that would allow recognition of alt codes at the command line?
I've just encountered strange issue and I cannot find the proper solution anywhere.I work in AutoCAD for 5 years and I am used to type commands on the keyboard (I usualy don't use icons in AutoCAD).
I was used to...just cancel all previous commands by ESC key and start typing the command. But since last week I had to click in the command line to write the command in it. How to type commands without annoying clicking in command line?
I must have changed a setting and now I cannot figure out what I did.
On AutoCad at school, when drawing a line, there is a light blue dialogue box that would pop up above the cursor telling you the length of the line before you set it. (not the coordinates).
This is not showing up on the educational version of AutoCad I am running at home.
We are having slow keyboard response while typing in CAD 2010. (It happened a little while using 09 as well). We will start typing a command and our cursor will get ahead of what we're trying to type. Our dynamic input is OFF.
An example is when I'm drawing a box, line etc and attempt to type "@5,-5", AutoCAD somehow jumps to a window on the side and if I don't notice will restore the window I'm working in and not complete the command I typed ("@5,-5" in this case). If I do notice in time, then I have to pres ESC about 3-4 times, which will then have me back on the command line with the text "@5,-" already typed (as if that was were I paused while typing??). The attached picture shows the dialog box on the top left, and the command line as if I've only typed "@", when after pressing ESC as mentioned the full "@5,-" text becomes visible on the command line?
Also, as a note: I've already ruled out that I'm pressing other keys that could possibly cause this...
When I use the distance command and pick the first point the rubber band line doesn't appear and then when I pick the second point I get a distance, but I have no way of knowing exactly where the points I picked landed.
I saw another post about the rubber band being black against the black background, but that is not the problem.
When I turn Otrack on I get the rubber band, but I don't like Otrack on because it causes other problems. How to get the rubber band to work the way it did before?
Is there a way to select a number if not all objects in a drawing and then change the properties (specifically color) from the command line i.e. without a dialog window?

I am having an issue with the sheet set manager's tool to insert sheet list table. I have a new sheet set for a new project that was created entirely in Autocad 2012. When I try to insert a new sheet list table, after I click OK in the Sheet list Table dialoge box, it simply closes to an empty command line with nothing inserted. Why nothing is inserted?
I am looking for a way to set a couple options in the Manual Tune window from the Performance Tuning window (3DCONIG Prompt). More specifically I want to be able to:
Check what the setting for Enable hardware acceleration is (so it can be restored back)Set Enable hardware acceleration offReduce the number of tessellations to cacheReduce both the Surfaces, and Curves tessellation How would I do this from command line? My ultimate goal here is to run these commands in .NET.
I'm starting to set up Sheets from our template but none of the construct is transfering except for dimension lines. The views are drug in from Project Navigator. Elevations are fine, but when the viewport window is made larger the construct isn't there. I've attached an example of what is supposed to be the floor plan.
I've edited the walls but that made no difference. They are set to start at 0". Is there anything I haven't checked? I'm supposed to go to contract with these drawings next week.
i have a bunch of sheets set up, and you can see a white rectangle with a shadow that i guess represents my page, and then in this page there's a dashed rectangle that i'm guessing has something to do with margins or something. i would like to turn this dashed rectangle off, if possible.
secondly, my sheets are set up for 11x17.. i was given a title block drawing to use. the title block was drawn in modelspace at 11x17. i copied it into the sheet and it seems to be the right size. there's an 11x17 rectangle that the titleblock sits in, and i'd like to line this up with the actual page (to make sure the titleblock is in the right spot).. however i can't seem to snap to the corners of the white page with the shadow.
I am new to autocad, and just want to know what the dotted line in the paperspace window represents, and if I can move it, adjust it, hide it or delete it? Also, does it show up if I print the sheet?
I have pasted a title block from another drawing onto it, and it doesn't quite fit.
I press CTRL+9 to make the Command Line disappear while drawing. When I plot (or when doing a plot preview) , the Command Line appears again by itself. So I always have to turn the Command Line off manually after each plot
The bug still happens;
- if Dynamic Input is turned off or on - if I plot to a real device or in PDF - if the Cammand Line Palette i docked or floating.
This is not an issue in AutoCAD 2012 so I guess it has to do with the new way they programmed the revamped Command Line palette in 2013.
A file created over a year ago (I believe with AutoCAD 2010) is needing to be updated. I have AutoCAD 2012 and when I open it there is no text in my Paper Space. However, if my manager is to open the same exact file with his AutoCAD 2012 he can clearly see all of the text is still in place. Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed that may be making the text not show up? All layers are on and visible.
Whilst dimensioning in paperspace I dont seem to be able to get the dimesions to sit above the drawing in model space. for example if I place a leader across the drawing to a specific point the leader sits under the drawing and is lost/hidden. how I set the dimensions to sit above the drawing.
When I make a layout with a part of my drawing in a viewport, I switch over to paperspace to draw dimension lines in it. Although the layout is displayed in another scale (e.g. 1:100) it puts the right dimensions at the drawing.
But now a problem appears:
With one of my drawings the layout does not put the right dimensions at the drawing in paperspace. I really don't know what went wrong. Strange dimensions appear, as if there must be a strange scale factor somewhere. (Dimlfac=1)
Whenever I try to print sheets that contain shaded (or better) 3D views, these 3D views do not appear on my prints/Pdf's/DWFx's. I've tried different PDF-drivers and hardcopy printers that are in my office, but they all don't work.
Some things that maybe can narrow the cause down:
- Printing a single 3D view to a DWFx works
- Printing a single 3D view to PDF or hardcopy printer doesn't work
- Printing a Hidden Line view on sheets works on alle printers
- 2013; printing a sheet containing 3D views works. When upgrading the same project to 2014, the same sheet fails.
In paperspace I set the viewport scale to 1-1/2"=1'-0" on a ANSI D-size plot. But when plotted at (layout) 1:1, it comes out to be 1/8"=1'-0" on a engineering scale.
We do a lot of labeling in paper space and have been encountering a problem with our dimension command mislabeling lengths and widths. Please see attached DWG. The road width should be 24' and its labeling it 880'. BUT measuring hoizontally it seemed to work fine. Really strange.
I am using the dimension command and snapping nearest and perpendicular. If I just click without using osnap it seems to work.
We tried using the DIM / DIMFLAC / V / and selectiong viewport
The funny thing is that I dont have this problem with every drawing. Just some seem to have this glitch.
I just installed the 2011 update (recomended). Now, on restart, all my butto icons are gone! The buttons are still active but I can't see them. They highlight when I roll over but the icon doesn't show up.
Another user has created a bunch of sketches and somehow has set the drawing up where all the viewport and our title block are displayed in white. model space everything is fine and is as it should be.
