AutoCad :: Plot (scale) And Using Blocks?

Nov 24, 2011

I am using autoCAD 2011. I have a problem. If I do a drawing in autoCAD in mesarments that they should be in real life. For example if wall is 9000mm long I type in 9000. Building plan like that is easier for me. But problem comes when I try to plot it to scale 1:100 for ISO A3 paper (420x297) How Can I make it fit perfectly and be in-scale?

And another question. If I want to have a frame around my drawing and corner frame with name of the work, who did it etc etc. so I don't have to do it over and over again on every single new drawing. How can I do it? I heared I can use blocks. But how do I fit my block to a certain scale? If I make my block in 420x297 which is A3 standard and do a drawing with 1000- mesarments than it simply will be small for it.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Set Plot Scale By Annotation Scale?

Aug 9, 2012

I am working on automating page setups in model space and am looking for a way to set the plot scale equal to the annotation scale for scaled drawings with

(setvar "filedia" 0)

(setq a (getstring (getvar "cannoscale")))

(command "-plot" "YES" "MODEL" "" "" "" "" "" "" !A "" "" "" "" "" "" "_Y" "_N")

Setting the plot scale with !A causes the lisp to fail.  However, when running each prompt through the command line individually, !A works fine.  what is missing?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Block To Scale Based On Plot Scale?

Apr 19, 2013

I have a block that i would like to scale based on the plot scale when plotting.

We set up our drawings full size and occasionally we want to plot them at half size. We do this by setting the plot scale to 1:2 (custom) in the plotting dialog. We have a few blocks that we want to print at the same size on paper, essentially become twice as big.

Is there is a way to fix the size or just set a few scale states and have them automatically adjust based on the plot scale (not drawing/annotative scale)?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotation Scale Is Not Equal To Plot Scale

Mar 15, 2011

I work in autocad 2010 and I draw in scale 1:1 . What an annotation scale is, moreover I have never used annotative objects in my drawings.

Nonetheless, when I try to plot a drawing, while I am in the model view, I choose the scale in mm/units, I select the plot area and when I press preview or plot, I get the message THE ANNOTATION SCALE IS NOT EQUAL TO THE PLOT SCALE. DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?

I press yes, I print it and the outcome is always a bit smaller than it should be.

When i am in the layout mode and I try to plot, I dont get this message. But I dont know how scaling works in this case. For example I want to plot in a A4 paper, scale 1:100. So I type 1000mm/100units, as I did in the model mode, but the result is wrong.

There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.

I have a drawing I want to plot to 1/8" Scale. I'm drawing at 1:1 scale and When zooming in to draw my line weights look accurate, however when I zoom out to view my whole drawing lines are to thick/blotchy and shapes are distorted. I've played with plot styles, dimension styles and my line weights ... nothing seems to solve this. I believe it has something to do with the size of my drawing.

I attached a drawing.

AutoCad :: DXF Files - Plot To Scale

Apr 27, 2011

I have several dxf files that were provided for laser cutting purposes. I have attached one file as an example. I am able to open the file and choose layout 1 and print. If I choose a 1:1 scale the image is very tiny in the corner of the page. If I leave the settings alone and just print, it is a full page, but the part on the paper is not the correct dimensions. The dimensions are in the gif file I also attached.

When I print the dxf file the gap between two of the holes, for example, that should be 70mm is actually like 95 or so. I have acad lt 2004 but also trueview 2011.

AutoCad :: Plot Scale In Page Setup

I'm trying to plot a set of drawings that need to be set at 1:1. Every time I pick Custom or 1:1 and set it to 1mm = 1unit, AutoCAD immediately switches it to whatever 1:1_6 is, leaving me with a bunch of empty space around all my viewports.

I'm fairly new at using paper space, and I've never used a plot scale that have underscores in them, so I don't even know what they're representing.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Plot Map At On 24 X 36 Paper And Keep It To Scale?

Jun 18, 2012

I am trying to plot a map at on 24 x 36 paper and keep it to scale. It appears I have all of the correct settings including 1"=1', fit to paper is unchecked, etc. My print preview comes across correctly but when I go to plot a message appears in the command line stating

Effective plotting area:  26.00 wide by 18.00 high
Effective plotting area:  13.63 wide by 6.22 high
Plotting viewport 2.
Effective plotting area:  13.77 wide by 6.25 high
Plotting viewport 3.
Plotting viewport 1.

The plot then comes out on paper way larger then 24x36 and the area plotted is limited to the 13.77 x 6.25.  My co-worker opened the drawing and printed it to scale on 24x36 no problem. What gives? I cannot find a setting to get it to plot correctly.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Plot / Annotation And Viewport Scale Correlation

Feb 25, 2013

Plot scale / Annotation scale / Viewport scale

I couldn’t figure out how these three types of scales are correlated with one another. For example, my drawing unit in AutoCAD is meter. And thus if I need to print my drawing with a scale of 1:200 then I set the annotation scale to be 1:2viewport scale to be 1:2plot scale 100:1000

if I need to print my drawing with a scale of 1:20 then I set the annotation scale to be 5:1viewport scale to be 5:1plot scale 100:1000

I couldn’t derive the rule that controls these three types of scales. This is also quite confusing when working with C3D! Sounds not the same logic is applied.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Control Plot Style Of Blocks

Mar 11, 2013

How do I control the plot style of blocks?

Say I draw some lines on layer "0" and use the "block" command to make a new block. Next, I insert that block I just made onto some layer "X".

I am using .stb.

How can I control the plot style of the block?

Also, if the block is used as a civil 3d object, say a pipes structure, where does the plot style in structure properties fit into the hierarchy?

I have tried changing all the following variables to no affect: layer "0" plot style, layer "X' plot style, object properties plot style, stucture style plot style

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Control Plot Style Of Blocks

Feb 26, 2013

So i've got a profile of a waterline. To show my valves, bends, tees, etc. I made a style for each and used null structures set to no plot for my plan view and made blocks for each appurtenance to be projected for the profile view.

This job is going to bid with two separate contracts and there is one sheet of overlap. I need to show some pipes and appurtenances proposed on one sheet and existing on another.

The one problem i'm having is controlling the plot style of the blocks in profile view, I've tried changing the structure style, making a new layer putting the block on that and changing the layer plot style, everything I can think of. I need it to be controlled via a vp plotstyle setting because I have another sheet where it needs to be displayed differently.

I am trying to insert blocks (nuts and bolts, external equipment, etc.) into a drawing that uses named plot styles. Then I want the inserted blocks to print with, say, 30% screening. I've tried different flavors for the blocks, By Layer, By Block, Layer 0, other layers, etc. The only way I can make this work is to go to the original block with Block Editor, and then change the individual lines to "30% Screening". It is pretty time-consuming.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Can't Reset My Plot Scale To 1:1 Using Page Setup Manager

Sep 7, 2012

I am working on an AutoCad drawing (Vers. 2013) that I got from someone else.  I am setting up my drawing and right clicked my sheet tab as usual to go to the page set up manager.  I set up my printer, ctb, paper size etc.  But when I try to set my plot size to 1:1 it won't retain it and reverts to 1"=1'.  It will however let me switch to anything other than to 1;1 (ie 1:10).  I checked some existing drawings and the problem doesn't show up.  So it's just this particular drawing that's messed up.  I checked my drawing units and drawing setup commands and they are the same as I always use.

So the question is why won't let me use a plot size of 1:1?
