there is already a style set from the file i'm using, when i am trying to get the measurements from the line to show up, they aren't doing so. how do i get it to show the lines when i modify the text and make it become visible?

I have a Civil 3D AECC table that I want to use in Excel but these entities can't be copied and pasted. I have exploded it a few time to get simple lines and text and want to convert these into an AutoCAD table for export to Excel.

When I open one particular drawing on computer "A" it contains a layer called "minor contours" and all of the information from that layer is shown in the drawing. When I open the same file on computer "B" all of the minor contours lines are missing. The major contour lines and text are visible but the minor ones are not found. The one layer that contains the minor contours is there and I can draw new informaiton on that layer and it is visible. Also, if I was to save the drawing on computer "B" and re-open it on computer "A" the minor contours are no there. If i was to save the file on computer "A" and re-open the file on computer "A" the contours are there.
Also, I have tried this on another computer and it reacts the same as computer "A". For some reason it is just computer "B" that is not able to see the files.
So you are aware all of the computers are using autoCAD LT 2013 and are running windows 7. They are also all hp models with almost the same internal hardware and software.
how to fix this so that computer "B" is able to see these contour lines and save the file without loosing the information.
Why do some drawings show in later drawings even through I have them set to invisible? I cannot find a consistent reason and the only way to "fix" it seems to be to delete the old drawing and redo it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe resently upgraded to Inventor 2013 and since then we have been having an issue of dimension and leader lines being hidden under a text box or some other drawing entity.
This is very confusing since the text box does not have a white out associated with it, nore is there a way to put the test box to the back and dimension lines to the front...
It seems like our puppet masters that program this amassing tool where up to something and didn't quite get there.
IT sure would be nice (or an absolute requirement) that this gets fixed so I don't have to learn new hoops to jump through to get a quality drawing out of Inventor.

View 2 Replies View RelatedProblems I'm having with hidden lines being visible in certain viewports and not others.I've dimensioned my drawings in model space, which I prefer, and put the dimensions on a separate layer. However, including that layer in the viewport causes the hidden lines to be visible when plotted. If I turn that layer off, everything works great.
I have dimensions for the same object in plan view that I'm showing in a different viewport that works just great, but in the front elevation viewport it gets all screwy.
I can dimension in paper space just fine.I prefer to dimension in model space whenever possible.
I have an assembly that I want to put some wires in, but every time I create a wire between pins, or a segment, or anything through the Cable and Harness tool, the centerlines don't show up. The rendered wires can appear, but without any sort of way to get at the centerline, I can't set its path or anything like that.
I was wiring up components no problem in a sub assembly, but for some reason it just won't work in my top level assembly. I thought it might be a problem with how I added pins to the components, but even trying to create a wire between 2 connectors from the content center gave the exact same results.
When i'm using the modify commands, the objects that I'm modifying become choppy, and when I zoom in and out with the third button/wheel, the movement of the zoom isn't fluid like it normally is, also It is extremely hard to grab an osnap during this process.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues involving hidden lines that should not be hidden lines in the idw environment.
I am using Inventor 2010 suite, 64-bit. I have largish assembly modeled with several sub-assemblies and a few reference assemblies. Some of the reference models are shrinkwraps from other large assemblies (surface type shrinkwrap, link broken), and other reference models are acutal assemblies that I am unable to shrinkwrap because I need the positional reps that they provide.
When I place my parent assembly, with all the normal and reference models included, on an idw, large portions of the reference models do not show up. If I change my line style to show hidden lines, the missing parts show up. At first, I thought that it may be because the reference parts in question were not originally in the view due to the reference data margin, so I started a new sheet and set the margin large enough to show the entire machine, as well as the state of Michigan, before I set the base view, but I still don't get those parts unless I enable hidden lines.
Even at that, Inventor is not behaving consistently. Some of the parts that won't show unless hidden lines enabled are fabricated parts that I or a co-worker modeled, some of the parts were imported from SAT, STEP and IGES files, and some of them are shrinkwrap parts. On top of that, some of the parts will show up normal (without hidden lines shown) if I change the part's BOM structure from reference to normal, while others still will not show unless hidden lines are enabled, regardless of the BOM structure. Keep in mind, none of these parts are hidden behind anything in the model, even with everything visible in my design view rep, so what's causing Inventor to think these parts are hidden.

I'm using AC 2011LT on a PC Every time I print to PDF or printer a line appears which is not visible on the model or paper space. It is even not visible when I preview the print before printing (again from model or paper). And on different layouts the line moves and sometimes doubles.
I have done all the regular things - all layers on, all unfrozen, all visible, etc, I've purged, regened, made a save as file, gone to another persons computer but still the same problem.
Is there any way to make 2 to sketch lines instead of floating lines so that I can dimension them?
For example, if I have a part that can change lengths and I need to print off a new drawing, it would be good if I could say that the lines were a set distance from each end of the part or some features of the part.
Then I could update the part length, then just open the part drawing and not have to adjust anything.
This isnt so much of a problem as an annoyance. When I try to make poly lines from connected single lines my procedure is as follows...
pedit, right click, multiple, select lines/objects, enter, yes, join x 3, esc
My annoyance is if i hit join once it will not make the lines into polylines, if i hit join 3 times or so and then esc it will.
It just doesnt seem that is right and I think i might be missing something. I have been doing pedit this way for a long time adn its probably finally time to figure this one out.

I don't know if I need to create a dynamic block property (or if that can be done), or somehow get this AssocVariable to display on its own.I also noticed that the example for creating a parametric Dimension object, does not set the dimension to the right type of Dynamic dimension. (Play with the Constraint From property in the properties palette, be sure to regen in between).
any way to view invisible block attribute? I created a block and the attributes really don't need to be seen in autocad just there for dataextraction and keeping it all in one location i want to go back through and make sure i have information filled in in all the right invisible attributes without having to open each block and check the attributes, but i don't want them permanently visible (i know i can freeze them or put them on a non plot layer but it clutters up the space when there is 20+ attributes to a block)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make my contour labels visible, indepently of the Visible status of the contours in the surface style of the original surface that I am working on. I have to do this due the final topo looks strange in the borders so I am displaying another contours -that do not have elevation- and make look the drawing better. The problem is that if I turn off the Visible property of the contours, the labels turn off even that they were created in a different layer and attached to a label style with its own layer property.
