How to make a block with attribute text (like showing on sectioning?) a circle with arrow then line and there is editable text on the top of line or editable text inside the circle..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of attributes suing fields within a block. But they don't update on opening. I need to do a manual field update to get them updated to the latest values.Tried various combinations of "fieldeval", but this was no good.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI "work in both worlds" It's somewhat important. (Windows at my "day job", Mac Student Ed for my University teaching.
I have an Annotative Associative block with attributes (TTFs). The Title attribute is multi-line. When the block used in a file that is opened in Windows, obvkously everything is fine. If that same drawing is opened in ACAD Mac, the position of the top attribute shifts and can't be corrected until the block is edited in Windows. (It has to be Windows because ACADmac can't edit associative blocks in this release.)
Process I used (MacBookPro 7,1):
Start ACAD12win (Parallels 7 w/WinXP), used default ACAD.DWT.inserted block "Tag Drawing Title", accepted all attribute value defaults, accepted default annotation scale of 1:1save fileopened file in ACAD12mac (multi-line attribute in wrong position)save fileOpened again in ACAD12win, and multi-line attribute is still in wrong position. Save fileOpened again in ACAD12mac, and multi-line attribute is in a greater incorrect position.
I have a group of blocks, when I click the blocks I get the editable attribute pop-up box. I can now enter a text of my liking.
I have now made a dynamic block of these blocks, with a visibility states dropdown. So that only one block is shown at a time and when I need to change it I copy the block and use the dropdown button to select the one I need.
The problem I have is that the when I click the blocks from the dropdown only one of them allows me to use the editable attribute pop up window. The others say 'The selected block has no editable attributes'.
If I can't have multiple blocks with editable attributes in one dynamic block or if I can and have done something wrong.
I've attached the block so you can see what I mean. Single Socket allows editable attributes others wont.
I want to convert existing lighting blocks with attributes to a new dynamic block. I created a few visibility states but when i insert the block I can't move the attribute text around. I don't have to redefine the attributes within the block editor to make this work. What is the best way to deal with existing blocks with attributes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to create a block with attributtes that automatically complete x, y, z, lat, long for the insertion point of the block?
I am trying to complete text in paperspace that will automatically fill in the lat long of a point in model space without using a table. I have tried field insertion with reference to a cogo point, but it doesn't give options for position on a cogo point. If I pick a block with attributes, it will let me pick any attributes, and x,y position for the block.
Cogo points show all the information I need to propagate in the properties....but how do I get that to translate into the text using fields or some other method?

I'll try to import a text file with a string: pointnumber, easting, northing, elevation, discription, but I get very big blocks and attributes in my drawing. I use Autocad 2011 Map 3D, on a windows XP OS. I'll importing the text string with the import command. Easting and Northing are for the position. The Elevation, pointnumber and discription are attributes from a block. I can only choose a block: "Map_Survey_point" This is the only block I can choose. When I import the text, the scale from the importing blocks are too big. How can I change the size of the block and attributes?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a CAD file with property parcels in it. It has come from an external contractor and from a GIS program of sort sort I believe.
If you click each 'boundary'/land piece, it is a block/object (not a proxy graphic) and in the properties pane window, there are attributes that has the lot number, the lot area, parcel number, other info etc in it.
Each block is irregular and different, i.e. they are not all the same rectangle block repopulated, they are different blocks.
I don't know much about attributes in AutoCad althoguh after reading about them, is there some way to edit an attribute (make it not 'invisible' and to increase the text size of its display) when it is already in several hundred different blocks? The only way I could work out how to do it was to go into every block and do it.
I also tried using the ATTSYNC command to update blocks with attributes although that requires me to individually select each block/give each blocks name.
I also tried using the DATA EXTRACTION wizard and was able to extract the attributes into a table/excel file, although that is not really good enough as I need the attributes displayed over the CAD data so you can see what parcel of land the attributes are referring to.
Any better way or a lisp command to do this? Clicking each block/boundary/land unit to place a label over it would also be okay. I just don't want to have to manually create the labels from reading the property pane, there must surely be a better way,
I was curious to know if it is possible to flip the orientation of an attribute when using a mirror parameter. I would like to orient my text to the right when I flip it one way and to the left when I flip it the other way.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI made what seems to be a very simple dynamic block with text attributes and a few grips attached to stretch and polar stretch actions, but the file size is about 2mb! This is huge... roughly the size of one of our firm's full floor plans. There seems to be nothing purgeable in the file, so I am wondering if this is just the size necessary for the functionality or if I am bloating this somehow.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a .dwg file which contains numerous blocks (70 or so) and they all have unique names. All these blocks have nested text.
I want to edit the attributes of all the text, in all these blocks, such that they assume the same text style, text layer and colour.
Obviously, with so many blocks, I want to avoid clicking on the text and editing the attributes individually.
I tried a lisp file called ATcolour.lisp, but even this is very time consuming.
I am running AutoCAD 2012 Electrical. The source wiring diagrams I am working with have attributed blocks all over the drawing. For my purposes, I dont need to export the data, but I do need to change the drawing. When I use "Burst" or "Explode Attributes to Text" in the Express Tools menu, it does change the attributes to text. However, it throws all the data that is in in the attribute all over the face of the drawing. This is extremely time consuming to delete them as some are micro small text.
I need a command that will explode the attributes to text, turning the blocks into entities, as if there are no blocks at all.
new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to link Autocad to MS Access?
I want to modify text attributes associated with a block based on the input into an access database. I've read I could link the two using DB Connect, but so far all I've gotten is the Data View - Summary.
How I rotate a block but set the text to stay readable.
At the moment I have a 600x600 light fitting with a Tag inside for typing the letter of the fitting. E.G. Type A, B, C
I have a rotate function also so I can rotate the fitting to the orientation of the room.
But when I rotate the fitting the text rotates also, therefore if I turn the fitting round 90 degrees the text is on its side. How do I rotate the block but leave the text orientation the correct way?
I want to make a block which is visible to snap only on a special point, say pivot point.

Is it possible to make an Attribute, take as a "Position X" value, the "Text alignment X" from a text ?
I need a lisp code to burst all "blocks with text/attributes inside" in selected area. That means user should select an area (window selection) and lisp program should be find all blocks with TEXT or ATTRIB inside in selected area and then applys "BURST express tools" command to all these blocks in the selected area by user.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI made a dynamic block with attributes. The block was to be moved using Linear parameter + move action, and then a lookup parameter and action.
The block moves as it is suppose to but the attributes are left behind. How can I get the attributes to move with the dynamic block?
The attribute properties are:
Verify = Yes.
Lock position: Yes or No don't seem to make a difference.
Is this a bug in AutoCAD or is there a solution to this?
I am trying to make a dynamic block with the rotate function and I am having no luck. I have the attributes locked.
When moving the rotate grip the angle changes but the text does not rotate.
I have been using blocks for P&ID's for about 3 months now, and had no issues. But for some reason when insert a block now the attributes window does'nt pop up, so i can't edit the text ? The only way i have been able to get round this, is by using property inspector to edit the text

I'm trying to create a new titleblock for a company I just started with that wants to make the move to AutoCAD. I have a couple of years drafting exp but I'm still learning the finer points of setting up a virgin system. So, I've drafted a titleblock which I'm trying to add attributes to, and I think I'm very close to having it all sorted out but I'm stuck at the moment. See below:
A breakdown of what I've done: Created title block and added attributes for all values we'll be taking from sheet sets (i.e. client name, revision numbers, revision dates}. This titleblock is saved as its own drawing and the attributes are in that drawing. The attributes have tags only- no default data or prompts Created a "Dummy" sheet set with all custom properties needed for future sheet sets/projects (i.e. client name, revision numbers, revision dates. Created a New Drawing using the sheet set manager, with our company's current drawing template.Purged all old title blocks from the new drawing Inserted the new title block (Bullet point 1) with attributes into layout 1.When prompted, I inserted the field for each corresponding attribute.
At first everything looked fine. Sheet number was correct, sheet title was correct, even a couple of the custom properties were alright and displaying properly in the layout. BUT THEN I noticed that a few attributes weren't showing up at all in the layout. When I would edit the title block itself, all of the attributes would be there but when I would try to insert a field into their 'default' parameters, the 'custom sheet set' properties wouldn't exist (like this sheet was not associated with this sheet set). But some of the attributes in the block WOULD be able to reference the custom sheet set properties, so that's not the issue.
My issues are inconsistent. Some attributes work, some don't, some update according to sheet set properties in the layout, others change in the block editor.
Is all of this weirdness being caused by the fact that my attributes are within a block? And does that mean that I have to define attributes in the Drawing template instead?
I got this plan from a third person and, the point from the survey have the property " bloc ". In their attribute property, I can see the elevation value. but in the z of the actual bloc, it shows zero. I would like to tell C3D to use the attribute elevation for his actual Z in the drawing. How can I achieve this ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm further developing our template and would lke to know how much trouble it would be (if any) to be prompted for several block attributes upon a new file being created (QNEW). The information in these blocks is found throughout the .dwg file and I'd like to reduce the amount of time going through each instance to modify (something that should have been done a long time ago).

I wrote this little piece of code (attached) that explode all the blocks in the current drawing. This is magical, compared with what we had to do in VBA.
This works perfectly but now I want to go deeper and managed blockreferences with attributes.Based on my code, I can determine if oBTR.HasAttributeDefinitions is true or false.
If the blockreference has attributes, I suppose I will have to use Explode instead of ExplodeToOwnerSpace.
My first question is, using explode, I need before to know in which space the blockreference is inserted (Model or any layout) so to insert the exploded entities correctly. So, is it possible from a blockreference to get its own SpaceId?
An another idea I had is to edit the blockreference (not the block definition) to replace attributes with text...
