AutoCAD 2010 :: Converting Existing Blocks With Attributes To New Dynamic Block
May 10, 2012
I want to convert existing lighting blocks with attributes to a new dynamic block. I created a few visibility states but when i insert the block I can't move the attribute text around. I don't have to redefine the attributes within the block editor to make this work. What is the best way to deal with existing blocks with attributes?
I have a couple of attributes suing fields within a block. But they don't update on opening. I need to do a manual field update to get them updated to the latest values.Tried various combinations of "fieldeval", but this was no good.
I "work in both worlds" It's somewhat important. (Windows at my "day job", Mac Student Ed for my University teaching.
I have an Annotative Associative block with attributes (TTFs). The Title attribute is multi-line. When the block used in a file that is opened in Windows, obvkously everything is fine. If that same drawing is opened in ACAD Mac, the position of the top attribute shifts and can't be corrected until the block is edited in Windows. (It has to be Windows because ACADmac can't edit associative blocks in this release.)
Process I used (MacBookPro 7,1): Start ACAD12win (Parallels 7 w/WinXP), used default ACAD.DWT.inserted block "Tag Drawing Title", accepted all attribute value defaults, accepted default annotation scale of 1:1save fileopened file in ACAD12mac (multi-line attribute in wrong position)save fileOpened again in ACAD12win, and multi-line attribute is still in wrong position. Save fileOpened again in ACAD12mac, and multi-line attribute is in a greater incorrect position.
I have a group of blocks, when I click the blocks I get the editable attribute pop-up box. I can now enter a text of my liking.
I have now made a dynamic block of these blocks, with a visibility states dropdown. So that only one block is shown at a time and when I need to change it I copy the block and use the dropdown button to select the one I need.
The problem I have is that the when I click the blocks from the dropdown only one of them allows me to use the editable attribute pop up window. The others say 'The selected block has no editable attributes'.
If I can't have multiple blocks with editable attributes in one dynamic block or if I can and have done something wrong.
I've attached the block so you can see what I mean. Single Socket allows editable attributes others wont.
I have a block that has been already established. i added another line of attribute. how do i make the new attribute associate with the 'move' parameter that has been set with the old attributes?
I am trying to create a dynamic block that represents a cable with an attribute attached. The block is essentially a line that runs along the Y axis. I have created a distance parameter with a stretch action attached. The line is to remain anchored at the top and the bottom end is permitted to stretch.
Problem: I have an attribute inserted to the left side of the line (offset at -2mm TC insertion) at a rotation angle of 270. When I select the stretch grip (in the drawing environment) I would like the attribute to remain centered with the line maintain the offset and maintaining the rotation angle. I have exhausted all of my options (limited experience).
I suppose it's a bug, and I wonder how can it be fixed:
If you edit attribute settings in a dynamic block, and put:
Constant: yes
Lock position: no
You can't neither change the position in the Model, nor edit text. I suppose that with this two settings selected the way showed above, one should be able to move the attribute in Model space.
Is it just me or do the actions associated with parameters disappear on occasion from the block editor? Sometimes a regen will make them reappear, other times not. Closing/opening the block editor is one way to make them visible again (worked a few times at least).
So I have created a block witch is a pin out for a device with some attributes. I have created a dynamic block away so that I can have multiple pinouts on a device... how can I work it so that each element of the array has different attributes?
Output1, output2, output3 for example? but when i use the grip to give me another pin it allows me to do output4?
I'm trying to add some attributes to an existing block using the block editor, but after I save and close it I cannot see any 'placeholders' despite adding a default value and the attributes work fine when I double click the block.
I've tried using the ATTSYNC and BATTMAN commands but nothing works and there are no invisibility states applied to either the attribute or block and all layers are switched on.
I just tried making a quick block from scratch and it seems to have the same affect, except the default value will show, but no 'placeholder' shown if left blank.
I swear with previous version I could see the tag when a value hadn't been applied, so is it that the version I now use (2012) does not have this feature or it's disabled?
I would like to change sub block from a visibility after setting it. Here an example of code to get the right visibility, I don't really know how to update a sub block by name or by handle(seems to change inside dynamic block).
Dim Block As AcadBlock Dim BlockRef As AcadBlockReference Dim DynEntBlock As AcadEntity Dim DynObjRefH As IAcadBlockReference [Code]........
I have dynamic block with visibility states and Lookups. I tried to add attribute (field with block reference property) which suppose to be updated according to Lookup. But it didn't happen Attribute still the same as first lookup props, but if I insert the block(pic1) and select another properties from the list (pic2-3), when open and close the block editor(4) - everything is ok. Is it possible to solve this problem?
I am trying to create a dynamic block with two attributes, a double grid head, when I add a stretch parameter to the head it only affects the first assigned attribute.
I have added a stretch parameter to each attribute and only the firt attribute will move. What are the rules with attributes in dynamic blocks, the only thing I found was I have to lock posistion for attributes to be affected by the paramter assigned by the dynamic block.
I'm trying to set up a dynamic block with an attribute/field within it that the user(s) edit using a lookup table.
I understand basically that a field must be created as the attribute that then references a lookup table with the inputs listed. However, I really do not know how to create a lookup that has custom information such as below:
Site: Unit Code Site X 100 Site Y 200 Site Z 300
All I have seen explains how to create a lookup from an existing parameter (liner etc) and I don't seem able to create something specific to my requirements. I forgot add that I want the user to see "Site X", "Site Y" etc in the dropdown - but the attribute to reflect only the Unit Code.
I need to know if there is a way to link an attributed F-N bubble with qty's to the BOM. This is for electrical wiring diagrams for aircraft. So I have serveral part numbers to a BOM, but no real accurate way of finding total quantities other than manually going though the drawing.
I am trying to create an attribute that displays the product of an Area of an object in the block and the value of a different attribute. For instance, here is what makes up the dynamic block:
1 rectangle (with width and height parameters and stretch actions) 1 Attribute called "ForcePerSQIN" - the value of this is entered separately for every instance of the block by the user 1 Attribute called "Total Force"
In the "Total Force" attribute, I want to create a field that contains a formula to multiply the area of the rectangle (which I am able to obtain with no problems using the Area property of the rectangle object type) by the value of the "ForcePerSQIN" attribute, which is user-defined. The problem I have is that it appears as if the value of this attribute is treated as text and thus cannot be used in the calculation; I get ######.
Is there a way to make the "ForcePerSQIN" parameter treat the user-defined value as a number instead of text so that it can be used in the calculation? Or is there a better way to accomplish my ultimate goal?
So I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
I have a dynamic block, that represents a stirrup.
I inserted in the block a Block Propreties Table, that have some preset dimensions for the stirrups. The grip of this table I decided to put in the top right corner.
The problem is that I can't make this grip moveable )
new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
I need to create a dynamic block for a "Glass Panel" in a balustrade. I need to be able to insert it, in one corner and stretch it in another corner, to suit the staircase angle.
I've created the block, but it isn't working correctly. I've attached a drawing, with the left hand drawing a sketch of how it needs to be. The right hand drawing is my dynamic block attempt. As can be seen, when the block is stretched between the 2 points, it doesn't follow the angle of the staircase correctly (Very slight run off)
I wish to create a dynamic block containing some attributes. These attributes are inside rectangles that can't be modified in length using linear parameters ; but the attribute has to be always in the middle of the rectangle. So, I draw a line inside the rectangle (in a hidden layer) and insert the attribute with center justification (not sure for the translation) that I place in the middle of this line ; then I put a coincidence constraint (not sure for the translation, but it's the first one) linking the middle of the line with the middle of the attribute.
But here's the problem : when stretching my rectangle, the insertion point of the attribute suddenly changes from "center" to "bottom left".
I am looking for a way to use the ATTIN/ATTOUT workflow to bring in data from an excel spreadsheet to drive the size of each of my block's instances. The block will be simple, a rectangle, with width and length parameters. For each entity in my excel/csv file these parameter values are spelled out. I know how to display these parameters in my attributes, but I don't know how, if I were to feed in these values, to drive the geometry. If there's a better way to take a list of width and length values to generate a series of blocks each with a rectangle containing its respective size.
I need to do some repetitive task on a lot of dynamic blocks, unfortunately, when I open each file, AutoCAD keeps asking if I want to open it with the block editor.
Is there a way to disable that dialog and open the files as normal dwgs?
A hint: BLOCKEDITLOCK doesn't make it, it shows another dialog...
I'm trying to make a dynamic block of a column radiator.
It should be very simple. It's a 46mm wide module that comes in a range of heights (300, 500, 600, & 750mm) and a range of assembly widths (9, 13, 18, 22 & 27 modules wide - more commonly given as mm widths of 414, 598, 828, 1012 & 1242 respectively).
My attempt at constructing it has gone quite well, but when 'stretching' the block a ghost of the core 414 (w) x 300 (h) unit remains. I attach the block to give you a better idea of what I mean.
I have a drawing ("SURUBURI.dwg") with several dynamic blocks ("M12", "M16", "M18" ... an so on...). I want to insert in my current drawing, one of the blocks from SURUBURI.dwg, for instance the block named "M12".
For that i tried creating a new command "INSERT_M12" that has the following script :
I have successfully created a dynamic block. I can insert it into AutoCAD, and it behaves like I want, except for one thing.
I can select the block and change it by taking a grippoint and place it at another position. So my block is e.q. stretched, just like I wanted.
But then. When I want to use the ordinary STRETCH command of AutoCAD, I can only stretch the insertion point of the block, but not the grippoints. Is there a way to set a grippoint to be select edable by commands like STRETCH.
I'm creating a routine to fill in my terminal strips. This routine worked perfectly in Vba but I'm now rewriting it for .NET...The problem is that I want to insert a block with attributes into different cells. The tables already exists. Below my function, I'm stuck on this part
Dim lonReturnedIds = FunBlockId() ' Calls the function FunBlockID to get the ID's of the attributes ' 0 = BlockID ' 1 = AttributeID of KleurB ' 2 = AttributeID of KleurO TS.Cells(i, intPosition).Contents.Add() TS.Cells(i, intPosition).Contents(0).BlockTableRecordId = lonReturnedIds(0) TS.Cells(i, intPosition).SetBlockAttributeValue(lonReturnedIds(1), strCableConductor2WriteFirst)
Public Function Fun_StripUp(ByVal Po3dXY As Point3d, ByVal str_CableName As String, ByVal Str_CableConductor As String, ByVal strCable Conductor 2 Write As String, ByVal strCableConductor2WriteFirst As String, ByVal intPosition As Integer) As StringDim tAcadDoc As ApplicationServices.Document = ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocumentDim myDB As.
