Nov 10, 2011How to freeze a layer in model space but still be visible in a viewport.
The layer just gets in the way in my model, I could just turn it on whenever I need to print the page but surely theres an easier way.

Mar 15, 2012I have a big drawing and some Mtext from a text layer just disapeared from model space. If i switch to a Layout the text is visible in the layout view and I can select it in a floating viewport, but when I switch back to model again I do not see it.
I added new text in model where missing and now in the Layout I have duplicates, the old one and the new one.
If i try to copy/paste the missing text from a previous version of the drawing, the text just doesn't paste, is not visible.

May 10, 2013Is it possible to have model space geometry print through a watermark in the layout? My watermark consists of mtext with an arial font placed manually in the layout. It is on it's own layer which is set to print at Shade 40 (plot style tables). Draworder works with other layout objects but not the geometry from the model space viewport. My watermark covers the model space geometry so it is not visible when printed. Is this possible?

Oct 4, 2012I've generated my steel frame model using a skeletal model technique. So my part file consists of only sketch lines representing where I want my steel to be placed. I've created an assembly and used that in my inventor.dwg file.
The problem is that I need to dimension to the sketch file and not to the model shapes because the sketch lines define the center of gravity. These lines aren't visible even though I've right-clicked on the content and selected "Get Model Sketches". How I can get my skeletal model through to the DWG environment?

Based on what annotative objects living on the lay out but neither in the model (or viewport) are re-sized? At this mode, there is no option to choose the annotation scale?
On other words, how to choose the annotation scale in the lay out mode?

Nov 20, 2012I just got back from maternity leave and I left work at Autocad 2011 and came back on Autocad 2013. I work thru my viewports in my model space, and I've noticed that when I pan and zoom in or out or move to quickly from one point to another (didn't notice which) my model space swaps to paper even if I'm in a command. Is this something I can deactivate?

Feb 21, 2011I then change to my A0 template on a different tab in the same drawing, size up the model in model space within the viewport (everything still fine), then as soon as I scale the model to 1:200 the icons I've added to the drawing (I say icon it's one particular group of icons - CCTV camera icons I've made and added) suddenly become massive and three times the size.
If I add them when already at 1:200 they're fine but it only seems to do this when I actually scale the drawing.

AutoCad :: Visible In Viewport Not In Modelspace?
Jul 18, 2011I received a drawing this morning, and it's paperspace looks great. However when I tried to view the drawings in modelspace it was empty. All the layers are on, when I click into the viewport (in paperspace) I can draw a line on the same layer as the block and that will show up in modelspace, yet no block.
Is this a feature of CAD, never experienced this before.
P.s. The blocks are available to insert in modelspace , however I'm just curious as to why I can not see the blocks that quite clearly exist in modelspace already.
AutoCad :: Viewport Not Visible Or Selectable?
Jan 8, 2014DWG has viewports on layout tabs, but the viewports are not visible. The viewport can be open, edited as established, but if you pan or zoom, the paperspace layout moves and not model space. In model space, viewport frame does not highlight.
All layers on, unfrozen, and plottable.
Have done extensive internet search to find soution, found others with same problem, have found no one with a solution.
Not extremely CAD literate, basically self taught, but until this problem, I've been knowledgeable and resourceful solving problems.

Jul 9, 2012I have a sub that gets a page number and a collection of layer ID's to freeze. The sub will freeze the selected layers in all of the viewports except for the new one.
After running the program, the layers in the specific viewport are still visible, but when you go into Model mode in the viewport and check the layer status, it shows the selected layers are set to Freeze in the viewport.
If I save the drawing, exit,and re-open it, the layers are now not visible. I believe I have the "Regen" in the correct spot.

Jan 19, 2011Build a model, position it, turn on or off layers you want or don't want to be seen, create a new layout. then reposition, change layers and so on, create a new layout, maybe zoom in on a detail, create another layout and then export all to a PDF.
my problem is if you change layer visibility it affects all layouts , not what I would expect. Or if you zoom in, it still bases the layout on extent , all though display type does seem to hold on the layout it was set for.
so what would be the proper way of showing only relevant information on several different sheets.

Sep 27, 2011I have a dialog box that has 2 list boxes. One box has the available layers in it, while the other will contain the selected layers. I want to use those selected layers as a list of layers that will be visible in a particular view port. I have searched all over to find information on what kind of list I would need and how could I use the list with a view port, but all I've found is info for one layer becoming visible.
I'm also looking into "FreezeLayersInViewport" but info sure seems limited.

I can see the base drawing thru the viewport while in layout, but once I try and preview my plot the drawing inside the viewport is not visible. that is, I can see the preview of my sheet border & title block, but nothing within the viewport shows on the preview screen.

Mar 8, 2012I have a viewport in paper space with most layers set to "VP Freeze". When I save the drawing or when a auotsave occurs, the frozen layers become visible again in the viewport even though they are still marked as frozen. The only way I can get the viewport to display correctly again is to close the drawing and re-open it. How I can stop this from happening?

Jun 14, 2012CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

The thing I´d like to know is how to be able to zoom and pan my drawing inside a layout. And not to zoom or pan the whole layout. Or let me say it like this: I have different layouts in one when I zoom or pan the paperspace is zoomed or paned. In another it is the drawing in the paperspace that is changing.
