AutoCad :: Viewport Is Visible In Plot?
Aug 1, 2011seems like an awfully simple question, but i cannot figure out how to hide the viewport from a plot?

I'm creating a new project drawing and have x-ref'd my base drawing onto the sheet to be plotted. I can see the base drawing thru the viewport while in layout, but once I try and preview my plot the drawing inside the viewport is not visible. that is, I can see the preview of my sheet border & title block, but nothing within the viewport shows on the preview screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI received a drawing this morning, and it's paperspace looks great. However when I tried to view the drawings in modelspace it was empty. All the layers are on, when I click into the viewport (in paperspace) I can draw a line on the same layer as the block and that will show up in modelspace, yet no block.
Is this a feature of CAD, never experienced this before.
P.s. The blocks are available to insert in modelspace , however I'm just curious as to why I can not see the blocks that quite clearly exist in modelspace already.
DWG has viewports on layout tabs, but the viewports are not visible. The viewport can be open, edited as established, but if you pan or zoom, the paperspace layout moves and not model space. In model space, viewport frame does not highlight.
All layers on, unfrozen, and plottable.
Have done extensive internet search to find soution, found others with same problem, have found no one with a solution.
Not extremely CAD literate, basically self taught, but until this problem, I've been knowledgeable and resourceful solving problems.
I have a sub that gets a page number and a collection of layer ID's to freeze. The sub will freeze the selected layers in all of the viewports except for the new one.
After running the program, the layers in the specific viewport are still visible, but when you go into Model mode in the viewport and check the layer status, it shows the selected layers are set to Freeze in the viewport.
If I save the drawing, exit, and re-open it, the layers are now not visible. I believe I have the "Regen" in the correct spot.
The code is attached.
' Freezes the selected layers in all other existing viewport layouts Public Sub freezeOtherLayouts(ByVal pageNumber As Integer, ByVal layersToFreezeLayerIds As ObjectIdCollection) Dim doc As Document =

How to freeze a layer in model space but still be visible in a viewport.
The layer just gets in the way in my model, I could just turn it on whenever I need to print the page but surely theres an easier way.
They are the only objects on this layer with which this happens.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a dialog box that has 2 list boxes. One box has the available layers in it, while the other will contain the selected layers. I want to use those selected layers as a list of layers that will be visible in a particular view port. I have searched all over to find information on what kind of list I would need and how could I use the list with a view port, but all I've found is info for one layer becoming visible.
I'm also looking into "FreezeLayersInViewport" but info sure seems limited.
how to make a 3D model visible in viewport layout?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a viewport in paper space with most layers set to "VP Freeze". When I save the drawing or when a auotsave occurs, the frozen layers become visible again in the viewport even though they are still marked as frozen. The only way I can get the viewport to display correctly again is to close the drawing and re-open it. How I can stop this from happening?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have set my wipeout frames to "off" however when I plot the drawing they are still visisble.
This sets the visiblity of the farmes within the drawing to off however when plotting the frames are visible on the print.
Been a while since I have used wipeout, not sure if this is a system bug or there is some other variable I have forgotten that will set frames to not plot ?

I have a problem with baked textures. why are the uvw seams visible in viewport? textures baked with mental ray gi from skylight.
I exported scene with baked textures into unity3d and the same happens there. when zooming out the lines start to appear.

I am trying to plot a drawing with a viewport (of a 3D planview) in paperspace. The viewport has the "3D Hidden" shade plot property applied. The plot preview shows all the entities color-by-layer. I am plotting with a plot style that assigns all colors to black. Typically the plot preview shows all linework black when plotting with this plot style applied. The resulting plot (from an Oce tds700) shows the linework in a "grayscale" quality, not the normal solid black linework typically associated with a 2D viewport plotted on the same plotter with same plot style.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty with the display of my point numbers and description when plotting. I am doing piping desing and utilizing Civil 3D points for the coardinates and elevations to display in a point table. For my viewport, in the properties dialogue box, under the Shade Plot option, I have selected Legacy Hidden due to needing my pipes to display properly only to have my points not display properly. If I opt for Legacy Wireframe or As Displayed, my points display correctly but my pipes do not. Any clue as to how I can have both display properly?

I can change thickness settings, etcetera and see the bounding boxe changing in size but see no visible curve in any of the viewports. Is this a bug in Max 2012? View 9 Replies View RelatedTrying to get blocks to plot transparent for only 1 viewport. Using viewport transparency works for all objects in applicable layer except blocks that have been created using "0" layer. I cannot use transparency by block since the blocks must show in other layouts without transparency. Also cannot re-create blocks using different layer since the source file is kept on network for all to use. Is there a way to plot blocks with the vp transparency of its current layer despite having created the block in another layer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedPlot scale / Annotation scale / Viewport scale
I couldn’t figure out how these three types of scales are correlated with one another. For example, my drawing unit in AutoCAD is meter. And thus if I need to print my drawing with a scale of 1:200 then I set the annotation scale to be 1:2viewport scale to be 1:2plot scale 100:1000
if I need to print my drawing with a scale of 1:20 then I set the annotation scale to be 5:1viewport scale to be 5:1plot scale 100:1000
I couldn’t derive the rule that controls these three types of scales. This is also quite confusing when working with C3D! Sounds not the same logic is applied.
Using ACAD 2008, I am having an odd problem where when I print preview/plot this drawing with a viewport the result is a blank page but when I remove the viewport it plots fine.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI am having some difficulties when printing via dwg to pdf a rendered shade plot viewport in a layout. However, there is no problem using realistic shade plot. I am using the following materials: Metal | Alumininum (Anodized Blue, Anodized Blue-Gray), Plastic and Glass and the result is not good as all. I am also looking on a tutorial on strategic place to place light for even more realistic rendering.

I have a drawing which contains 17 layouts in paperspace. When I go to plot all drawings using the sheetset manager its only plots out what is in paperspace. I.e the titleblock and nothing in the viewports, i.e model space.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to use the "Shaded Viewport Options" in the Plot dialog box? We saw an option for Sketchy in the dropdown menu but I can't find any information about how to use it, or how to change the settings, or even what the intent is for it. When we have selected it and viewed in Preview it shows up as a mass of lines too dense to be usable.
We are using AutoCAD 2012 on a PC in model space.
I have an xref in my drawing. I am trying to use a VP override to make a layer plot with a lighter lineweight. I have changed the layer to number 9 (set to plot light) in the viewport and the layer changes color. When plotting the layer does not plot with the correct lineweight. The object color on the layer is set to bylayer. Visretain is set to "1" What is wrong? Why isn't the layer plotting correctly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one drawing per file at model tab. When I need to plot a multiple page file, I use:
Print > Batch Plot.
The problem is that I have to set plot configurations ( plot style table, plot area, paper size, etc) in each file before use Batch Plot.
Now I received 722 files with a wrong Plot Style Table. For this time I change the associated *.ctb file at Plot Style folder, but I will need to associate the right *.ctb to each drawing. It's also common to have to change other properties.
When I copy a viewport in a layout it does not create another viewport, only a poly line.....
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I change a polygonal viewport to a rectangular viewport?
View 5 Replies View RelatedProblem: When I create a new viewport, another viewport's paperspace blanks out or disappears. When I copy a viewport over, the new VP doesn't show anything and you can't maximize/"enter" its paperspace; it's like a simple rectangle, but the properties box says it is indeed a viewport.
Ex. Viewport 1 shows the top view of an object, Viewport 2 shows the right side view... as soon as I add Viewport 3, the top view in VP 1 blacks out. I attempt to ReDraw, Regenerate, etc, but it doesn't re-appear. I've run Plot Preview to see if maybe it's just a fluke with the graphics card on my screen, but alas, even in plot preview the viewport is blanked out.
It almost seems like there is a limited number of viewports I can use.
Solution: Run the MaxActVP command and set the value to a number greater than the number of VPs you actually need. This particular file had that value set at 2; hence, why a new, third VP blanked out the first one.
I have a drawing with a viewport that fits to the page. And I created another smaller viewport over top that just shows the legend. Now when I try to double click inside the smaller viewport it always goes into the larger one. I have tried bringing the smaller one to the front but that didn't work. I know that I can clip the larger viewport around the smaller one or bring the legend right into paperspace or slid the smaller one off to the side work in it and slide it back. This is more out of curiosity of how to get into the smaller viewport.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a test drawing with 4 viewports in paperspace.I frozen a layer in each viewport (as a viewport override, not global), and wrote code to gather info on layer overrides in viewports. The function takes in a database, and is generally used on drawings only open in memory:
public static bool GetLayerInfoFromDB2(Database db) { //do viewports on layoutstry {using (Transaction tr = db. Transaction Manager. Start Transaction()) { ObjectId ldid = db.LayoutDictionaryId;DBDictionary ld = (DBDictionary)tr.GetObject(ldid,
[code]....
the odd thing is it never finds the frozen viewports on the first viewport. It catches the others fine.I cannot see anything odd either, the counts of viewports and layers are all correct, and the drawing has no problems. Is there something that must be done to initialize the mechanism that reads viewport overrides?
how do you create a viewport within an existing viewport ?
