AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Plot Results From Paperspace Are Different From Model Space?
Jan 17, 2013I have several objects on various layers in model space and they are exposed through a viewport in a paperspace layout. I also have a corporate CTB plot style.
Here is my problem: If i plot the objects from model space, they all plot with the correct lineweights as defined in our corporate CTB, but when i plot them from the paperspace layout, some but not all objects plot with a heavier lineweight than what is defined in the CTB.
I thought the CTB was supposed to override any settings applied to individual objects, but more importantly, why the different results, on the same objects, depending upon the space from which they're plotted?

Aug 2, 2013We recently upgraded to 2014 and have been experience significant issues with plotting to PDF. When plotting individual pages, we are able to center the plot and adjust the margins to where they will plot correctly. However, when trying to "batch publish" mutiple layouts of a drawing they all come out off center or parts of them are being cut off.

Mar 21, 2012I've been working on some wiring schematics lately and I noticed that when I plot to PDF (using both Adobe and the ACAD PDF plotter) my plots are coming out fuzzy. It looks like I have a shadow around my text and lines. In the attached graphic, the plot on the left was drawn about a year ago, the one on the right was done within the last two months. I recently went in and changed the PDF plot setting to High quality print. Ultimately,I didn't have this issue last year and as far as I can remember, I haven't made any changes to my plot settings.

Jun 19, 2013I'm having a problem with "phantom" lines appearing in PDF plots.
The Situation:
The firm I work for often uses Excel tables in Autocad LT 2013. I have learned through experience its better to use a linked table, but in this situation only paste special is an option due to time constraints.
Basically when we try to plot a DWG with tables specially pasted in the drawing space phantom lines appear.
But only when we try to convert to PDF. In the plot preview everything is fine, but when the PDF is created vertical lines appear in the tables on the actual PDF.
I've tried many different options to fix this but so far the only thing that has worked is, converting the DWG to a DWF and opening in Design Review. From there I plot to PDF and everything is fine, no lines appear.
In the DWG I have tried tweaking the Plot Quality for the "pasted" tables to no avail.
AutoCAD Print / Plot :: OLE Spreadsheet Plots Solid Black
Feb 27, 2013Just upgraded my PC and before when I select plot quality "high graphics" the spreadsheet comes out low resolution, if I use monochrome spreadsheets came out perfectly defined.
Now with the new PC High graphics still comes out the same but when I select monochrome all I get is a solid black block. If the OLE object is an image (BMP) it comes out perfect with monochrome,it only happens with excel files
I search the forums for an answer but the closest I found was changing the OLE type under properties (currently is embedded); problem is the field is grayed out and cannot be changed just as the source application (ms excel 2003)
By the way, on the older files created with my old PC if I just open and print them from the new computer they come out perfect; if I open the OLE file and modify it, the solid black block shows up regardless if I print to PDF or print on paper.
AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Background Mask Plots Partial Black On MText
Oct 16, 2012I have this problem with my MText Background Mask. You can take a look at the two attachments. Each one gives me the same issue, but with different MText objects. I'm also plotting to a KIP5000 and a SHARP All in One, and I get similar results, except in some of the MText, they come out in a random color as well. The pc3's for all devices are set to Lines Merge.
The text is actually part of an xref file, and if I plot directly from the file they are in, I have no problem. I did a test where I copied the text into the sheet file, and got similar results when the text is in modelspace, and I got my intended results when the text is in paperspace. Now, this is the way I want to go...but the company standard is to draw it all in the xref, so I have to figure out how to get around this.
I've gone back and forth with the Merge/Overwrite options in the pc3, and when plotting to PDF and SHARP, I get the correct output with Overwrite, but the KIP just completely ignores the background mask with Overwrite.
AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Batch Plotting Results Of DWG Compare
Aug 9, 2013I have run the DWG Compare Plug-in on two DWG files. The results show the plan in grey while the differences in plans are showin in color. If I plot an individual layout to PDF the plot looks perfect meaning the plan is grey and the differences are color.
When I batch plot, all of the layouts lose their ability to plot the results of the DWG Compare and just print like the original DWG file whether it be mono or color. is there an entirely different way to go about batch printing to a combined PDF the results of a DWG Compare?

May 11, 2012I am having some difficulties when printing via dwg to pdf a rendered shade plot viewport in a layout. However, there is no problem using realistic shade plot. I am using the following materials: Metal | Alumininum (Anodized Blue, Anodized Blue-Gray), Plastic and Glass and the result is not good as all. I am also looking on a tutorial on strategic place to place light for even more realistic rendering.

I couldn’t figure out how these three types of scales are correlated with one another. For example, my drawing unit in AutoCAD is meter. And thus if I need to print my drawing with a scale of 1:200 then I set the annotation scale to be 1:2viewport scale to be 1:2plot scale 100:1000
if I need to print my drawing with a scale of 1:20 then I set the annotation scale to be 5:1viewport scale to be 5:1plot scale 100:1000
I couldn’t derive the rule that controls these three types of scales. This is also quite confusing when working with C3D! Sounds not the same logic is applied.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: 3D Drawing Won't Plot In Black And White Using CTB
Nov 21, 2011We do most of our drawing in 2D – quaint I know, but that’s the way the office works. On occasion we’ll do something as a solid model to guide a client understand a complex roof or a clearance problem. We started a model for a project we are working on and ended up using it as building elevations.
The problem is with plotting. If I use our standard office CTB (which is set to print as black), I get color printouts no matter what I try. I have tried using an STB and changing all our layer colors to “7” in an attempt to make it print black, but I'm getting extremely undesirable - seemingly random - line weight results.
The client wants the next project done in 3D as well and I’d like to be able to have the elevations look right.

Jan 8, 2014Trying to get blocks to plot transparent for only 1 viewport. Using viewport transparency works for all objects in applicable layer except blocks that have been created using "0" layer. I cannot use transparency by block since the blocks must show in other layouts without transparency. Also cannot re-create blocks using different layer since the source file is kept on network for all to use. Is there a way to plot blocks with the vp transparency of its current layer despite having created the block in another layer?

Jan 6, 2014Many times when I receive a drawing from an architect, when I go into the layout tab the titleblock info/XREF doesn't line up with the page layout. I would assume it lined up when the architect sent it to me in his software. For years the solution I use is to XREF the architects PDF in the layout and then go to print and change the Print Offset till it looked right in the print preview. Then I would apply it to the layout. I would then take the offsets and apply it to every sheet. This is a very time consuming process and was wondering if there is a better way to make this work and still keep the scales. I was also wondering if there was a way to move and align the layout on the fly in the paperspace.

Jan 10, 2012I am trying to plot a drawing with a viewport (of a 3D planview) in paperspace. The viewport has the "3D Hidden" shade plot property applied. The plot preview shows all the entities color-by-layer. I am plotting with a plot style that assigns all colors to black. Typically the plot preview shows all linework black when plotting with this plot style applied. The resulting plot (from an Oce tds700) shows the linework in a "grayscale" quality, not the normal solid black linework typically associated with a 2D viewport plotted on the same plotter with same plot style.
