I need some adivice on making 2d drawings of Pump stations, septic tanks, wells - here are some examples URLs...What program should i use ? If i add block to drawing can i get the specifications of the object automatically into a table, just like in example drawings.

My objective is create a database table that has detailed notes for call outs in my drawings and then link my call out blocks to the database table and display the blocks and linked descriptions in an Autocad table. If the notes in the database table are edited the Autocad table updates with the new the description from the database.
How can I export a excel table to Autocad not as an OLE object but as a Audocad table?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have this table that's reading my table style. All cell formatting is set to General and middle center justification.
When I type in a number the formatting automatically changes from General to Whole Number and upper right justification. When I type in letters everything it fine.
Why using numbers changes the formatting? In the textstyle I have changed the cell formatting to Text but that doesn't work. If I select the table, right click and choose Remove Overrides it moves the numbers to Middle Center as set in the style.
I've created a table (a door schedule for example).The data cell type properties is "general". The door # is "001". When I type this in, it switches to just "1" and the type is swiched to "whole number." Same for another cell with a number in it, it switches the cell type on me and I don't want what it switches to. Every time I try to switch it back it doesn't do anything.
How do I stop it from automatically switching, or at very least let me override?
I need the logos on this poster to be distributed in alpha order in a grid pattern. Is there an easier way to do this than manually setting them in place? Like a script or something?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am creating seed files for contractors and clients to use. I have created the object data table(s) in AutoCAD Maps beforehand to be able to view/edit in AutoCAD Civil/Civil 3D 2010.
Is there a setting that automatically attaches this data to any object (line, circle, block, etc) drawn in a sheet. I am hoping to skip the step of manually entering "adeattachdata" and then selecting the objects that the object data is to appear. I realize that each sheet would only have one object data table.
I have an arrow in my Dynamic Block which I can rotate to the north. But is there a commando that the arrow will rotate itself to the UCS? See drawing file.

So we would like to have a field for each of the materials where we could choose the material spec. It would also be great if we could then be able to connect this to our BOM. The second part I know should be able to be done but so far haven't found a way to add the material spec in like we would like.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a bunch of tags with a dedicated "tag mode" style, and if I select them individually I can add them to a table, no problem. However, if I try to do a mass selection of a swath of labeled lines or arcs i get the option to convert all non-tag labels to tag lables (I don't want that) OR don't add those labels not in tag mode (presumably keepin those that are). The problem I have is if I select the latter it deselcts everything. Am I missing something or does this not function as it implies (or at least how I wish it would)?

I am looking for a lisp routine which will allow me to mirror an object that I pick automatically. I don't want to have to pick the two points to set the mirror line. I just want the point I pick on of the object I select to be the point of the mirror. If that can't happen, I was wondering if the object could mirror at its insertion point (like if it were a block or a text.

I don't want a data link because we are sending, only, cad files to our customers.
I need to create an image to these exact specifications:
542px x 300px at 150 dpi in the GIF format.
I have tried over and over scaling my source (a JPG at 300 dpi) to those exact specifications, but once I export to a GIF, the resulting file is at 72 dpi. I feel like a dummy. Better yet, are those specifications even possible?
I created an ad using one PMS color after orginially being told that it was a "Thanksgiving 4 column x 4.5” spot color ad”. I received the following message from the newspaper printer today:
"Please relay to your corporate art department that the newspaper does not print in PMS/Pantone colors, except on a full color page, which requires an additional color charge. For spot color, we print in primary colors such as red or green, or in cyan or magenta alone.
As I understood it, spot color meant pantone, and CMYK was process. Am I wrong here or are the printers using the term "spot color" incorrectly?

I wanted to start learning how to use 3DSMax by first making a sword model that could later be used for a game like Skyrim. But rather than making some simplistic, blocky sword, I wanted to jump to something more complicated to speed up the learning curve.
I was editing existing models in Blender before, so I already know more or less how to operate a program like this, and everything else can be covered with tutorials. But there's one thing I can't find a tutorial for...
Let me explain it on an example. I want to make a model of this sword:

The idea is that it's symmetrical and identical on both sides. I saw somewhere a video where a guy was somehow creating a model, and while he was working on one half, the other half was automatically updating and creating a perfectly symmetrical shape.
For this sword, I would be basically making only 1/4 of the sword, while the rest would be appropriately placed mirrors. I want this process of mirroring to happen automatically. How do I do that?
How can I resize an image without distorting the picture, to exact pixel measurements that I choose?

Everytime I resize, it distorts the image.

If I make the outer shell of the house as a single object, I could boolean it with a moving box to have the cutaway appear.
I'd rather build it from bricks, and have them disappear when my moving 'cutaway' box intersects them. It should leave a nice jagged brick-edged hole.
So - is there any way to have an object's visibility switch to 0 automatically if the object is contained in another (unrenderable) object?
(There are so many things I'd use this for. If you want lots of objects to appear in sequence, like a long row of dominoes, there's gotta be a quick way of having them pop into existence, rather than custom scripting or manually staggering keys in dope/track view)

I've just upgraded to Xara P&G Version 6 from Xara Xtreme 4. ( I know, I know what took me so long right? ) Well, Xtreme was doing everything that I required and as such never felt like upgrading but have finally done so. Still getting the hang of the new functions and facilities.
One thing that is bothering me is the new Layers task. In the older version, any imports or changes I made were always done on the active layer. In the new version something strange seems to be happening. Every time I import a new object, Xara automatically adds a new dedicated layer for the object. This means that I am ending up with tons of layers
Am I doing something wrong? Or can I change any setting so that Xara does not automatically add a new layer. I much prefer the facility of the old version where it was up to the user to add new layers as required.
When I open a raw file it automatically converts to a smart object. After processing and merging I am unable to print anything other than the original object. What might I be doing wrong?
