I have created a leader from a block and I need to have that leader automatically insert data from an object. I have tried several attempts with a the FIELD command, but to no avail.
View 1 RepliesI am creating seed files for contractors and clients to use. I have created the object data table(s) in AutoCAD Maps beforehand to be able to view/edit in AutoCAD Civil/Civil 3D 2010.
Is there a setting that automatically attaches this data to any object (line, circle, block, etc) drawn in a sheet. I am hoping to skip the step of manually entering "adeattachdata" and then selecting the objects that the object data is to appear. I realize that each sheet would only have one object data table.
Running a Query that inserts a block with attributes filled with text derived from a file that has a large set of polylines with object data (text)? Is it easier just to insert this object data as text with a query. Or can I place this object data (text) into a block that inserts?
Example:
- You have land locations defined within the object data assigned to a set of closed polylines. (Large subdivision)
- Field name for object data on each closed polyline is "LAND_LOC"
- Now, I'd like to label these locations with a block that inserts to a central point within the closed polyline.
- Block Attributes with "get" the information from the polyline / object data and place this value in the block attribute.
- I have 1 drawing file that has closed polylines with object data assigned to them.
- What is the best method for this? I'd like a block with attributes to insert and pull the object data / field and place it into the block with a defined attribute, that is central to each of the closed polylines. (LAND_LOC)
Is there anyway to prevent AutoCAD from converting a MTEXT leader with a block element attached to a BLOCK leader when doing a copy/paste? See screen shot.

I am trying to create a leader that reads the block "name" and then places it into circle, or square at the end of a leader.
I see it in the "other" programs but I have plain ole Autocad.
Should be simple enough except my brain is locked in the clouds and im spinning around in circles.
Which may not be a bad thing, except NASCAR hasnt started yet.
automatically insert the arc like the picture? Is there a setting somewhere that will do this? Right now when we have a location that cannot accomodate the text we are drawing an arc and grip moving the dim text to the new location. I am trying to find a more automated way to handle these types of situations.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently set up out civil 3d to do auto linework, which went really smooth.The first issue is with my points. When I go to Import Survey Data to insert the points and do auto linework, it doesn't insert the points in the right location (nothing is .86 off and easting is 1.36 off on every point). But if i were to insert the points by going to Points and clicking Import, they are right on? second, who do I get symbols to automatically come in when I insert the points? (power poles, hydrants, inlets, etc.).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm have a long span of conduits in this tunnel and need to label each of the conduits its 3-4 digit assignment in each viewport of each page. I made a center line to each of these conduits in the layer named that 3-4 digit code (ex, Centerline of ET23 is in layer ET23).
way to make a leader that will just tell me the layer of the object (centerline) I attach it to? Or any way to label the layer of an object?
how to import point data that has Map Object Data also attached to it? "import it by attaching to a data source".
Example: I have a bunch of manholes. Each MH has X,Y,Z, but also Type, Invert Elevs., Pipe Sizes, Pipe Materials, Pipe Directions, Structure Type/Material, etc. etc. etc. I may have point data representing MH's, airport runway ends, trees, anything you can imagine, with all kinds of data imaginable.
I want to import this data directly into Autocad/Civil 3D as either Autocad points, lines, or closed polylines (I also have utility lines, parking lots, etc.- all with data associated with it), all with the data attached as object data. I know that anything more complex than points might be hard to explain here, so I am hoping at least for a solution on how to import points - I have 99,999 MH's and obviously I don't want to have to type all that data in one by one.
I basically suck at using sql server. I can get around using the Map workspace and the different tabs. I have never used FDO, and I am not even sure what it is.
I fooled it today by creating 99,999 Autocad points at the correct XYZ, attaching the correct object data to them, then exporting as a shp file. I went into the shp_name.dbf file and edited it to add the data I wanted by cutting & pasting from Excel. then I re-imported the shp file. but, this is a workaround at best.
Surely Map can import objects and their associated data fields, all populated with valid data! all I need is to know how to do it. I mean, if this is not something I can do directly using Map commands should I take the money I earned by surveying 99,999 MH's with my GIS data collector that allows me to assign 101data fields to each object I survey, and buy something better?

I have a drawing with Objects that have both Object Data and Linked data in an Access database. I need to get information from the linked table to a new linked table for each object.
I have thought that if I get the necessary information from the Linked table record to the object data for each object, I could then convert the Object data to a new link and am looking for a way to copy the data from a field in the Linked Table to the object data. There is at least one field common to both the OD and Linked Table record.
Is there any automated way to transfer this data?
In my company, they have just upgraded the old version of Autocad LT 2004 to the new 2013 and we have created menu to make our job easy. I have try to transfer the menu file .mnc to 2013 but it's not working or I don't do it the right way.

The General Task:I want to convert the object data to attribute data so that I can export it to an Excel file, add another column of data, and then import that new data as attribute data.
The Specific Task:I have thousands of campus water meter locations (a block with a small icon, attribute data, and object data) that belong to two different systems, domestic water and lake water. Each of these blocks has object data item (a barcode tag) that I want to show as a label next to the block.
However, before I do that, I want to export that barcode data to an excel file so I add a column (eventually a new piece of attribute data) that says whether or not that specific water meter is radio read or manually read. I want to then import that radio read/manual read excel file back into autocad and have an X appear on the block icon if it is radio read. I also want the barcode information to show up as a label.
My problem:I can't get the barcode object data to export with the locations in one easy excel sheet that I can simply import after I have made my changes.
Find some person on here who knows how to convert object data to attribute data.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried the XREF route to look to another drawing to bring in my NED files instead of putting my NEDS with my shapes and point data. The drawing that contains the NEDS were brought in using data connect. When I xref the NED drawing into a new drawing, nothing shows up. Zoom Extents does not show anything nor does anything appear to be turned off. When I do the xref, I see the image of the tiled NEDS and click on use georeferenced location (because I am trying to trick the neds to stay together but translate together). Is there a better way or what could I be missing to get it to show.

I've created a table (a door schedule for example).The data cell type properties is "general". The door # is "001". When I type this in, it switches to just "1" and the type is swiched to "whole number." Same for another cell with a number in it, it switches the cell type on me and I don't want what it switches to. Every time I try to switch it back it doesn't do anything.
How do I stop it from automatically switching, or at very least let me override?
I am trying to insert a table using a data link. I set up the Link through the DataLink manager and then insert the table using a range. I click OK to insert the table and after a few seconds of thinking ACAD sits there with no table on the screen. When I look in XREFs, the DL is there but says it is unrefrenced. Tried multiple ways of entering or setting up information to no avail.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to insert an Mr Sid file using Data Connect. I am running 2011 C3D. When I try adding the file to the dwg, it tries to execute the query, but then I get an error "There was a problem adding data to map."
The folder containing the SID file has two other files...the .sdw file and the metadata file. Is there another file missing? Or is the SID file too large...it's 1.6GB.
I am playing with the book module and I love it. Hwever, I wonder whether there is a possibility to automatically create captions that show the date of the creation of a picture. More generally any subset of the Exif data would be welcome. This is possible for slideshows, but I could not figure out how to do this with book pages.
Is there a way to automatically insert page numbers?
I have data in an Excel spreadsheet that I want to insert into the drawing in a table format that replicates my spreadsheet formatting and creates AutoCAD entities as opposed to a bitmap image or the mess the TABLE command generates - I'm looking to keep my text consistent within the drawing and I still use the old SIMPLEX font.

I want to add the leader part to the leader that is created when I drag a Station Offset label. This would be the part in a three point leader that goes horizontal for a short distance before the label text begins, similar to how a multi-leader is created. Looks weird having the C3D labels be the only "leadered" noted be without the landing.

Now when I go into the edit the text within the symbol sketch, I need the "view label properties" from the drop down menu but its not there! Is there a way that I can get the "view label properties" into the drop down menu??? What I am after is to attach this symbol to a view and the symbol will automatically show the name of the view and the scale.
OR........ If there is any way that I can get default view label to look like my symbol?
I made an alignment of road, inserted with sample line, then i made a profile. But on the sample line on profile, there is not a data of height and lenght of profile. How to get those data in road profile. I can manually draw that, but i think there is an easier way?
