I am not at all familiar with complex topographic maps, ow to plan it out, elevation markers, the distance between the lines, which polyline to use? straight and arc or splines (to close later)..
View 9 RepliesTwo of my elevation markers (North and East) have disappeared. The actual elevations are still visible and fully functional, but their tags have disappeared. "Elevations" is turned on in the View Properties dialog, but only 2 tags appear.
How to get them back?
I have a plan prepared for CNC steel sheet laser cutting. One factor in the costing of the cutting is determined by cutting time or length of cutting. I want to determine the total length of all the lines in a selection so that I can determine what is the most economical design to achieve my goal. Is this possible in ACAD?

How can you change the rotation on the screen accept to use the rotation command?
The tag itself is referencing a block I went to the block and changed the block now if I go to insert the multi view block it prompts for rotation but not to edit the attribute is there any way to get it to do both?
We using CODEBOOK to generate the layout plan, elevation. When we insert form CODEBOOK this alert appear.

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.
On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.
I am trying to insert blocks into my drawings and for the most part I have been successful using Design Center. However, I have difficulties turning some of those blocks from the Plan View into the Elevation View, even when they show as elevation blocks. Even the downloads that show as 3-D end up being inserted as 2-D in plan view. In floor plan mode, I have no problem; so how do I turn them into 2-D in elevation mode?

Although with the recent technology advances I have migrated to the AutoCAD side of the fence, and loving every minute of it. Upon purchasing a copy of AutoCAD 2004, I continued drafting the way I knew how, lines on paper. I have recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2007, and with no formal training, I am looking in drafting in 3D.
My main question has multiple parts;
What is the best way to draw walls in 3D?
What is the best way to add windows and doors? and is there a way to have the "plan view" relate with the "elevation view"?
How do you go about adding a roof?
I have played around in the isometric views attempting to solve the previous questions, although I have been doing all of it with line work. I know there has to be an easier and more efficient way of going about this....
Is there any way of displaying the geodetic distance(ie "mapdist") with the dimension tool instead of the normal distance?

I've already looked around at a few lisp programs, and I've downloaded them, loaded them, but when I try to activate them in the command box I type them in and nothing happens.
I'm running on 2013 AutoCAD Mac edition.
I have some topography I've converted from SketchUp to .Dwg and I was curious if AutoCad (or any of it's versions) had the capabilities of turning this series of meshes into a run-of-the-mill topographic map. For instance, a standard plan view showing elevation lines at say 2' intervals.
If any of the versions are capable I can definitely get the 30 Day trial and give it a go.
So I have a topographic map on Civil 3D, is there a way to generate a 3D model of it?

How to raise all the breaklines used to develop the surface as well? This would include survey figures, feature lines and 3d polylines.I want to raise them all by an equal amount.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I have a topographic surface I created from 3 lofts and 2 patches. The goal of the project is to: find out how many rolls of fabric will be needed to cover the surface, find out how far each roll will go, and create an assembly style sketch.
So far all I have is the surface. I was thinking I could divide it in sections by the width of the fabric (minus the overlap.) With each section, create a path, and use the sweep feature to sweep the profile of the fabric. Only sweep the length of the roll, till I reach the endpoint, and turn each sweep into a part file.
My first problem with this method is that I can't seem to project the surface of the topographic region to a sketch to create the path for the sweep. Does the surface need to be turned into a solid to do this?
I believe an easier method to this would be to thicken the topographic region, split the the thickened layer, and divide it into the sections I need to build the final sketch.
Is there a better method, and which method should I use. Also, is there any way to project a surface onto a sketch or does it have to be a solid?
I am trying to create an elevation label that will give me the spot elevation followed by the letters "TC" and then on the line below subtract 4 inches from the elevation followed by the letters "BC". It's easy enogh to add the letters but the simple equation of elevation - 4 inches eludes me.

A few weeks ago I did not have this problem but once my computer was switched to the company's global server and c3d was reinstalled the problem appeared. Furthermore (post switchover), when a colleage of mine prepared a simple test drawing with just a line and a point, he was able to snap to that line without the point changing elevation. When he sent that drawing to me and I tried snapping the point to the object, the same problem occured with the point taking the elevation of the line object. I suspect it is a system variable issue
Succesfully producing a slope analysis exhibit using LIDAR topographic base information with this version of Civil 3D? I have followed the instructions as best I can and have had no luck. I am using a trial version and this is a big factor in whether or not I will ultimately make the purchase.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have some existing drainage pipe and structures in a base plan that i need to change the invert (which is the easy part) and the top elevation to the existing top elevation that does not meet the minimum presect in civil 3d 2012 is there a way to change these min. to match my exisitng elevation for example i have a catch basin invert is 15.45 top is 17.56 with a 18" rcp the cover will be less than 12" and i need to change this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Revit LT 2014, I've tried unsuccessfully to override the color of topographic surface edges in my model to white, so the edges don't show up in plan views. I've tried through the Object Styles menu, Override Graphics In View By Element, and Override Objects In View By Category, but nothing has worked. These overrides have worked for me in the past in previous Revit Arch versions, so I don't know if LT just doesn't have that capability, or it's a bug.
I can't simply extend the topo surface past the view window edges (I only want to show contour lines on my site, since they've been surveyed, but the neighboring site has not been surveyed, so I don't want to guess at them). I really just want to hide the toposuface boundary edge.
I would like to draw a smiple line using the transparent command 'AD (angle-distance).
My distance is not horz., so I want to enter the Vertial angle and the slope-distance, in LLD the command was AD VD.
So how do you do this in Civil 3D 2012.
I am working in a project where I need to represent the reflecting ceiling edges in the plan view. I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command. I have done every thing possible with the view range but I don't see the lines.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am putting together ROW markers using a process found on the Being Civil blog. The Marker setup shows on the Assemblies fine, I go through the corridor section editor and I can see the marker at the proper location for the ROW. The ROW marker will not show up on the section views, Not sure if I missed a step but everything seems to work up to the point of putting them on the section views.
