I have a 2d plan and several elevations/sections and was wondering if it was possible to do a quick mock up of what it would look like in 3d?
Load drawings and just extrude somehow, or even import them in to revit?
Is there a way to make 3d view of an object ( say a box) from its plan and elevation? I'm requesting you to all to get a solution.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to content browser and loaded the "Plan Elevation Label" onto my tool palette when I go to place the label in the drawing it prompts for elevation and nothing else.
How can you change the rotation on the screen accept to use the rotation command?
The tag itself is referencing a block I went to the block and changed the block now if I go to insert the multi view block it prompts for rotation but not to edit the attribute is there any way to get it to do both?
I am not at all familiar with complex topographic maps, ow to plan it out, elevation markers, the distance between the lines, which polyline to use? straight and arc or splines (to close later)..

I would like simulate this action or model this simple action I have in this sketch. It is pretty basic but I am drawing a blank on how I could see the max movement I can get with a 6" cylinder stroke.
Maybe more difficult than I am capable of, I could model it but don't know how to get it to move or rotate that would simulate the movement.
I've tried to set a simple point in model space. I typed PO - enter - typed a pair of coords into the 2 boxes, and then enter. No point was created.

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.
On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.
I am trying to insert blocks into my drawings and for the most part I have been successful using Design Center. However, I have difficulties turning some of those blocks from the Plan View into the Elevation View, even when they show as elevation blocks. Even the downloads that show as 3-D end up being inserted as 2-D in plan view. In floor plan mode, I have no problem; so how do I turn them into 2-D in elevation mode?

Residential custom home design. I come from the good old fashioned background of pencil and paper drafting. Although with the recent technology advances I have migrated to the AutoCAD side of the fence, and loving every minute of it. Upon purchasing a copy of AutoCAD 2004, I continued drafting the way I knew how, lines on paper. I have recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2007, and with no formal training, I am looking in drafting in 3D.
My main question has multiple parts;
What is the best way to draw walls in 3D?
What is the best way to add windows and doors? and is there a way to have the "plan view" relate with the "elevation view"?
How do you go about adding a roof?
I have played around in the isometric views attempting to solve the previous questions, although I have been doing all of it with line work. I know there has to be an easier and more efficient way of going about this....
How do I model (or calculate) the fewest welds/fittings required to change angle and elevation in a pipe run, as shown in Option1 below.
For this example the constants are: 8" standard steel pipe, one of the fittings is a standard butt weld 45 (12" radius), bend angle is 70 degrees, and the elevation change is 9". The custom fitting is cut from a standard 8" long radius 90.
Note: Option2 is just shown for reference, I'm only interested in solving Option1

I need to export from 3d studio max 2013 some simple models in .3ds format with a simple material library such as a simple red, blu, yellow materials colors.
but I see that when I export from 3d studio max 2013 the models with the colors assigned to the model, when I reopen the .3ds file the model, appears all grey without the library and the colours.
I downloaded some model from internet in .3ds format that contains a simple colors material library (no texture) that is embedded in the .3ds file.
Is there a solution to export a simple model painted with some colours from a library?
(I don't need an external material with texture library such as .mat file)
I need this tip because when I import this models with Relux I need to mantein some colours.
I am in the process of drawing up an existing building and firstly am setting up with the building mass. I have managed to get the main bodys of the building done and the main roof.The problem now is that when i switch too the east or west elevations to add mass for the roofs on the adjoining wings of the building it wont let me see the model lines when i draw them in the screen i just get an error message " None of the created elements are visible in Elevation: East View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings. "I have my reference line set not far from the building and it seemed fine when i done the roof from the north and south views for the main building. I can see the model lines when i switch too 3D views but i cant create the mass from there.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is trying to move the project model to a new elevation some 1000+ feet higher than the 0'0" schematic design elevation. When using the "shared" solution, it will work for the model but not for the Topo as the topo is also tied to the Project base point, so when one uses shared it also moves the topo map 1000+ feet higher. I'm trying to find a way where the project elevation can be adjusted to the base point elevation so both topo and model elevations coordinate with each other. It's a 4 level project with many exterior retaining wall levels. I'm almost to the point of doing a full copy of the project to the clipboard and then importing it at the level 1000+ feet higher.

I am trying to create an elevation label that will give me the spot elevation followed by the letters "TC" and then on the line below subtract 4 inches from the elevation followed by the letters "BC". It's easy enogh to add the letters but the simple equation of elevation - 4 inches eludes me.

A few weeks ago I did not have this problem but once my computer was switched to the company's global server and c3d was reinstalled the problem appeared. Furthermore (post switchover), when a colleage of mine prepared a simple test drawing with just a line and a point, he was able to snap to that line without the point changing elevation. When he sent that drawing to me and I tried snapping the point to the object, the same problem occured with the point taking the elevation of the line object. I suspect it is a system variable issue
i have some existing drainage pipe and structures in a base plan that i need to change the invert (which is the easy part) and the top elevation to the existing top elevation that does not meet the minimum presect in civil 3d 2012 is there a way to change these min. to match my exisitng elevation for example i have a catch basin invert is 15.45 top is 17.56 with a 18" rcp the cover will be less than 12" and i need to change this.

I work thru my viewports in my model space, and I've noticed that when I pan and zoom in or out or move to quickly from one point to another (didn't notice which) my model space swaps to paper even if I'm in a command. Is this something I can deactivate?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
