AutoCad 3D :: IGS Converted To DWG Is Not In Solid?

Mar 18, 2013

I've opted for 3D scan of a part, it is Shoe Horn. And the scaned people sent me an .igs format and I requested them to mail me .dwg format to work with ACAD2007. Accordingly they too converted .igs to .dwg, but the converted .dwg file is unable to convert into surface or solid, once if it could be converted in surface or solid only we can do further development.

convert this into surface or solid. make this as surface or solid model, to work further with ACAD 2007.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Hole Table On Converted Solid Work File

Apr 26, 2013

What is the best way to get a hole table on a converted SW file.  Our Engineers use Solid works and I can easily import the file but when I try to create the  hole table in the IDW file it comes up blank.

Do  I need to recreate all the holes so they are native to Inventor? or I am missing a conversion setting.

Lightroom :: Why DNG File Converted From MRAW File Bigger Than One Converted From RAW File

Dec 30, 2012

I use Canon 60D and normally shoot in mRAW. I am considering a move to DNG conversion so I did some test conversions and was amazed to find that, far from reducing the size of my mRAW files, it increased them by about 60%. I repeated the exercise with RAW files and found that this did reduce the size of the files by over 10%. In fact, i ended up with the crazy situation where the DNG files converted from mRAW were much bigger than those converted from RAW.

Below are some sample sizes based on Medium previews, Embed fast load data - YES, Embed original RAW file - NO, Compatibility Camera Raw 7.1 and later

Before :   mRAW       17Mb          mRAW 12Mb
After:           DNG        28.5Mb      DNG  21Mb

Before:    RAW          23Mb          RAW 22Mb
After:        DNG          20Mb          DNG  19Mb

If I went for Full Preview, the DNG sizes rose by about 2 Mb

why the mRAW conversion is so inefficient?

I am still not entirely sure whether to adopt DNG but, if i do, it looks like I certainly won't be using mRAW as the source.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Select Non-solid Entities On Solid Layer

Mar 19, 2012

We have this need to have all of the solids in a drawing to be placed in the "solid" layer.

Sometimes folks are drafting lines to develop these solids, and keeping the lines on the "solid" layer, rather than moving them to another layer, or deleting them altogether.

I could get folks to run this command before leaving the drawing.

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

Select all entities that are on the solids layer that are not solids.

If nil, great, do nothing.

If entities are selected, let me do something with them.

I'm hoping the following can be modified ever so slightly.

 (setq non_solid (ssget "X" (list (cons 0 "3DSOLID")(cons 8 "solid"))))

AutoCAD Inventor :: Split A Single Solid Body Into 2 Solid Bodies?

Sep 19, 2012

I'm trying to split a single solid body into 2 solid bodies. The problem is that the body I'm trying to split consists of two separate pieces. I can split a body when it is a single piece no problem, but I'm having the problem when the two pieces are not joined at all.

When I try and split it on the origin plane it gives this error:

"Creating parting line failed. Could not build this Split"

When I try and split it on a work plane lying on one of the pieces it gives this error:

"Creating parting line failed. Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs."

Or, another variation on this erorr:

"Creating parting line failed. Split feature could not create two bodies. Change the Split Tool so that split feature can create two bodies."

AutoCAD 2013 :: Converting Complex Solid Surface To Solid Model

Aug 12, 2013

I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Assembly Being Converted To STL?

Dec 18, 2013

I created an assembly for a customer of mine who wants a STL of a sword for a possible 3D print situation. I created the part in inches and finished it. When I converted I made sure the document units were set to inches and the export options were as well. However whenever they upload it or check it in other software it is coming up miniscule like it was drawn in mm or cm. I have gone through a number of forums and updated to the latest service pack without issue. Is the issue related to the fact its an assembly being converted to an STL? I have done it before without issue. I have attached the STL in question.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Date Is Converted To Mm - Dd - Yyyy

Aug 1, 2013

I have a configuration file (.xlsx) where I have put in Client, project number and a date (as a custom iproperty). These cells are linked to the iProperties in the IDWs. The project number and client works well, however im struggling with the date. The date is written dd.mm.yyyy in excel, and Date1 is set to date type.

Date1 = GoExcel.CellValue(ThisDoc.Path & "Project configuration.xlsx", "Sheet1", "D4")

When I run the rule Date1 changes type from Date to Number, and inserts a random number.

By inserting this

Date1 = DateString()

The date is converted to mm-dd-yyyy, but with wrong dates. If I write 15.10.2013 in Excel it will write the date as 08-01-2013. How to get it written lik 15.10.2013?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Converted DWF Into PDF File But It Either Doesn't Print At All

Apr 29, 2013

I need to convert a Cad file into a PDF file.  Unfortunately, the PDF file won't print.  The first time I had this problem was I converted it with the layers on the PDF file. What I did last time was this:

-I went under Plot-Model

-Under the Printer/plotter, I clicked DWG to PDF.pc3 and click on Properties

-Click under the Device and Document Settings tab

-Click on Custom Properties

-Click on Custom Properties buttom

-Under the DWG to PDF PRoperties table, I click on Capture all under Fon Handling

-I uncheck Include Layer information under Additonal Output Setting

-I click ok

When I begin to plot under Batch Plot, I also went and click on Publish Options, and on that table under Layer information, I click on Don't include.

For some reason, it's not printing the way as it should.  I don't know what other option I have in order the print corretly.
