AutoCad 2D :: Make New Linetype Ends Even?
Dec 5, 2012I have just made a new linetype but the ends look funny...I can't see why the ends, before and after the slash are different lengths? How to make them more even?

Nov 8, 2012I work with a drawing that for some reason don't have a proper fence line in it. I tried to load another .lin file, but still the fence line looks funny. The line I'm after looks and work ok in alla other files but this one!
I tried to copy paste a fence line from another drawing but what's pasted is just half the linetype...
The line should look like this -- / ---- / ---- / ---- but comes in as -- ---- ---- ----
Why do I loose the slashes?

AutoCad :: Make Linetype For Specific Jobs?
Dec 15, 2011what im trying to do is make my own linetype for specific jobs, ie a number of different lines named different things. so using the acad.lin file i have altered it and reloaded it but all my text doesnt look big enough or too big, i am using different drawings etc so i could be on a 1:100 or 1:50 etc, i would draw a polyline and it would be 70mm thick, the line obviously changes but the text height doesnt

Nov 10, 2012In our work we draw many symmetrical outlines. In many cases, chiefly due to space constraint, we draw only half the outline and use a centerline of the symmetry to dimension the part.
Our current method is to use sketches to achieve this. I wonder if there is a way that we can make this linetype available from the styles? Diagram attached below.

Dec 5, 2011I am now working for an oil company, nd we do arather a lot of work involving lifting plans with chain hoists etc.
My question is, is there any way of make a linetype that automatically draws chain. At the moment, i have to manually draw a link, and copy and paste with basepoint to the reuired length, and then "block" it. however, when we come to alter these drawings, they are a nightmare to alter all the chain sections.
If there was a way of developing a linetype that automatically made these chains, it would speed things up so much.

Feb 1, 2013I am wondering if it is possible to make a linetype that is essentially two continous lines (Or small dashes lines) overlayed atop one another. The purpose for this is to create a shadow effect (we use this for text on aerial imagery). The bottom line would be a thick white/black line and the top line would be the opposite so it stands out.

Feb 28, 2012I am using the design accelerator to create a shaft with multiple features. Works well. This shaft is 90"+ in length and although I realize we create in full scale, having it display into my drawing in full scale is unnecessary because one diameter is nearly 60" long. As such I would like to shorten it by using a shaft end, but cannot figure how to do it.
Just to be clear, by shaft end (term used in Mechanical) I refer to the squiggly lines that basically fudge the OAL of a component.

Mar 21, 2011Im new to autocad and started designing my own house in archictecture 2010.
I've been having a propblem with the roof design at the moment, i am trying to get the gable ends of the roof to stand up on a 90 angle on both sides by editing the edges/faces but every time i do this the roof ends disappear so theres a hole in the sides of the roof and you can see into the house. How to do this so they do not disappear?

Dec 27, 2012Is it possible to draw a line with fixed ends. I want to draw a line, representing a pipe, which connects two tanks. Whenever I move one of the tanks I'd like the line automatically to adjust its coresponding end in such a way that the line aways will start from the one tank and end on the other. Is it possible that?
Another question, is there some option, such that whenever two line cross each other, one of the line automatically to go over the other. By this I want to show on the drawing that the two lines are not connected. Something like the following "sketch"

Jan 8, 2014I'm working in Civil 3D 2012 and I have an alignment going through 3 DI's and a MH. When I say to draw this in profile view the pipes end inside the DI sometimes. Not at the middle but inside it even though my DI has a near 0 wall and floor thickness. The place where the pipe ends is where the edge of the DI should be but it is being shown outside that for some reason. What can I do? I inserted an image. The piece that I drew that is supposed to be a DI in profile view is rotated wrong.

Mar 11, 2013Basically a 2.5" id tube with a .06 wall thickness - 16ga exhaust tubing. Once I finaly got the drawing right, I cannot rip the part. The part has both ends cut. If one of the ends is left un cut I can create a sketch and put a point where I want to rip, and successully rip the part. If both ends has a cut end has a cut, there is a RIP error. How to overcome this headache? I am trying to make a template which If i can rip the part, I will be able to do so.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Splines Are Drawn By Connecting Ends Of Two Lines
Oct 18, 2012I use splines a lot to provide a contiuous smooth curve between two lines which are co-planar. The splines are drawn by connecting the ends of the two lines and then the tangent direction set by hovering over the end grips. I then use the FLATEN command to convert these splines to polylines that can have their lineweights set to a value other than 0. My problem is that sometimes when i use the FLATTEN command, the spline is erased.

Jun 14, 2012I've got the basics down, made a couple of basic parts and a simple assembly but having a bit of an issue with constraining a part at 2 ends.
basically, i've got a simple wheel with a piston attached, think steam engine drive wheel. Ive produced a frame to attached it all too and can position the wheel to the frame and piston to the wheel and the cylinder to the piston but when i try to constrain the other end of the cylinder to the frame it all seems to go wrong and things start jumping all over the layout.

Sep 20, 2013I'm wondering if there is a function in AutoCAD to 'press' (crush, flatten, pinch, crimp not sure the exact or correct term to be applied) the end of a steel tube? I've attached an image of a real piece of equipment where the tube is pressed at the end with a swivelling pin. Tube is 50mm outer diameter with a 3mm wall thickness.

Basically, instead of being one continuous line, their endpoints intersect and overlap, making it look very messy. Is there anyway I could delete these extra lines? Feb 22, 2013I have been trying to unfold round tubing made through the frame generator. Here are the steps I took:
1. Used Frame Generator
* both ends of the tube are notched
2. Opened part and converted into sheet metal
3. Used the following tutorial: URL...
4. Was not working so I drew sketches on both ends of the notched tubing and added points
5. Used rip tool (point to point) and did not work
* I made sure the thickness was the same
I thought I was doing something wrong so I generated a new round tubing frame with only 1 end notched and the other end flat and followed the tutorial. IT WORKED! I have came to the conclusion that you can not use the rip tool on tubing that has both ends notched.Is there a way where I can cut the tubing in half so I have 2 individual pieces/files of tubing with 1 end flat and 1 end notched?
