Illustrator :: Make Brush That Starts And Ends In Thin Line?
Sep 12, 2013I am looking to make a brush that I can use for cartooning in CS6 that starts out thin, gets thicker with pressure (I have a cintiq), and ends in a thin line.

View 22 RepliesI want to make a lintype where line starts with a point and ends with the point and in between is continuous line. Space from points to line should be 1 or 0.5 units depending on the scale I want to plot my drawing in.

Then I convert it to a live paint group and use the paint bucket to fill. Everything looks fine no matter how much I zoom in. If I bring the AI file into Photoshop CS6 I can see a thin white line between the black line art and the fill. This is most noticeable where black meets black. I can also see this sometimes in file previews while browsing through files. If the white line cannot be seen in Illustrator is the file ok? I did just upgrade to CS6 if that would make a difference.

Why does it sometimes add to the existing path and sometimes start a new one?

View 7 Replies View RelatedReducing the Roundness of a calligraphic brush to 0% seems to create 'flat' ends to a stroke, but, on closer inspection, the ends are not perfectly flat/straight.
The line seems to start and end with a slight 'S' curve; it's less visible when the stroke has a different bearing, but I need it to be gone - is this possible? I'm trying to create a calligraphic brush with perfectly flat ends.
I did a parallel line using White Arror Select> Copy> Object> Path > offset. I got the parallel lines but the ends are not opened. It was Mitre selected in the popup box. Here is the image:

View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to create a brush stroke with a point on both ends? It's fairy easy to create a stroke with a point on the front end using the Shape Dynamics, but how do I create a point on the tail end as well? I have a Wacom pen and even the sensitivity function on it can't get a point on both ends no matter how sensitive I draw a quick stroke.
The stroke on the right is the typical brush stroke I get when playing with the "shape dynamics" to get a point on my stroke. The stroke on the left is one I rendered to display how I'd like my strokes to look.
It must still be possible to simply paint a stroke with the paint brush that will fade away from thick to thin and to then to nothing. I can do this easily in my trusty PS version 6, but I can't find this feature in CS. (There's something called "Fade" in CS, but it's a whole different thing.) This is not a "nice-to-have" feature, it is essential. For example, it allows me to draw cartoons with lines that appear to be painted the way a brush makes lines that start out fat and gradually get thinner and thinner.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI reloaded my Wacom and PSD. I have current drivers and all appears as normal, however... I can't for the life of me get the settings right to draw using pressure, from a thin to think line and back. I played with those settings in Brush dynamics and it will only draw as a round stroke with no thickness variations.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the healing brush is tends to "skip". It leaves a line of circles like a stamp would instead of a flowing line like it should leave. No matter how slow I move the brush it leaves a circle and then as I continue to draw nothing happens until I reach the edge of the first circle, it then drops another circle and it continues that way as long as I draw with it. The brush tool works fine, leaves a smooth line. The Spot Healing and Patch Tool work fine but the healing brush will not heal in a smooth stroke. It skips along a leaves a tail of circles the size of the brush. I am using a fast computer, i7 processor, 16bg ram and a SSD drive so I do not think speed is an issue. I upgraded from CS4 where the healing brush worked fine on this computer

I'm aware this can be achieved with the pen tool. Path stroked with a brush with some settings altered. Most likely Fade.
This is where I am so far:
Problems:
I cant get BOTH ends to fade.
A long path wont get fully stroked since the fade happens too soon.
I am trying to make thin line boxes like those seen on sites like yahoo! etc... when I create a box using the rectangular marquee, and make the border 1 pixes, it makes the line too thick. Any idea how to make a finer line/border around a box?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to draw a line with fixed ends. I want to draw a line, representing a pipe, which connects two tanks. Whenever I move one of the tanks I'd like the line automatically to adjust its coresponding end in such a way that the line aways will start from the one tank and end on the other. Is it possible that?
Another question, is there some option, such that whenever two line cross each other, one of the line automatically to go over the other. By this I want to show on the drawing that the two lines are not connected. Something like the following "sketch"
I'm starting to draw a line and I want it to end above a point so that the next line I draw will be perpendicular to the first line and will end at the point. E.g., in the attached picture, I'm starting to draw the orange line and want it to end above the top-right corner of the rectangle.

How can I do that?.
since I installed PSE 11 my printer only prints a thin line down the paper, instead of the whole photo. How do I fix this?

When you measure something with the distance command, according to the type of file, the last zoom you did, your graphic card and probably the speed of the wind, the little red line won't show.
Normally when you measure something, a thin red line is shown were the distance is calculated. But in my laptop, and both pc's of my client, Inventor shows this line only in parts, not in assemblies. I've got a Quadro 2000M, my client got Quadro FX 1700 and 1800, all with the recommended drivers.
So I tried with 3 other laptops. On one of them (with a K2000M) if you do a measure right after the file open, it give you the line, if you zoom with the measure command open, the line disappear and won't show again until you close and open the file again. But if you zoom without the command active, the line is shown normally. But it's not working like that on all machines.
Im trying to create a line that starts a one point then it moves 90 degrees one direction then 90Deg in another direction so i get like a maze effect. When i use the line tool and draw a line holding down i think SHIFT to make it 90deg when i let go to finish the line and then try and draw on the end of the line i cannot! It just gives me a grab handle for the end of the line but i want to continue drawing the line adding to it so to speak.

I was wondering if there was a way to always make a specific drawing open when AutoCAD starts. For instance when you start it, the file that always opens is acad.dwt
I was wondering if there was a way to make it open a drawing you might be working on. Then you always wouldn't have to click so many times to open it and find the folder it was in and so on. You start AutoCAD and there it is when AutoCAD starts. You can get right to work and not have to look for it.
I am using Ai Cs6. I am trying to make a new calligraphic brush. The graphic I wish to create the brush for is highlighted on my screen, and I clicked on the New Brush icon in the Brush Menu. After changing the angle, roundness and size, the only options are "fixed and random". All other options are greyed out. How do I access the "tilt" feature for example?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyway, I would like to use the Basic brush at half a pixel stroke and less like 0.25
However, when I type in 0.5 and then go to use the brush it just turns back to 1px
So, should I assume I cannot make a stroke smaller than 1px?
What I'm doing is applying a brush to a line-segment and then dividing the line segment up into pieces of varying lengths using anchor points.
What happens that the long line segments show the brush perfectly, but the shorter line segments are "squashing" the entire brush into one short segment
So for example I'm trying to create a logo with hand-drawn lines - the longer pieces of the logo look perfect with my brush, but the shorter pieces are squiggly because the whole brush is being squashed down into the length of the small line segment.
I've already tried the brush options and I've tried options of selected object. Setting proportion doesn't work, because then the smaller line segments end up thinner than the rest and if I set the thickness back up then I get the same effect back.
Is there some way that I can set the full length of the line with the brush, so that Illustrator doesn't re-apply the same brush effect every time I segment the line? i.e. cut the line up without reapplying the brush to each segment.
