View 2 RepliesI need to design a 'stencil' of sorts - but it just needs to be an array of circles separated by a constant distance. its an array of 200 micron diameter circles separated by a distance of 500 microns each (between centers).
Its super easy to make this array, but when I try to 'pull' it into the third dimension, or extrude the array, I get an 'invalid' error. Or the highlighted objects just get 'unhighlighted' (for the lack of a better word) once i hit enter after selecting them all. Also, I made the entire array into a 'block' of easiness.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a logo. Circular logo with an inner ring maybe 4 px wide and 15 px inside the rim of the outer circle.
Basically I want a blue circle with a yellow inside ring. What's the best way of doing this? The only thing i can think of is: creating a blue circle marquee, and then another (trying to estimate a new circle size and change the color) that is yellow, and then making another smaller blue circle inside the new one. That's just ugly.
I tried the edit/stroke but that just gave me a stroke around the outer circle; it didn't put a ring inside the circle 15 px down.
Also I tried to contract the original circle by selecting it, then Modify/contract. That's got me a selected ring, inside the circle. Now how in the world do I make that little ring yellow? It just remains selected and I can't seem to find a way to color it.
I am looking to create a collage made from 100 photos (all taken high res) to be printed large, approx 120cm x 50cm. To be able to print this size I need to keep the high resolution and hence looking for a large file output.

I usually select ‘Adobe PDF’ as my printer instead of the standard ‘DWG To PDF.pc3’ which comes with AutoCAD and everything works fine. However on some particular drawings I have, when I print using the ‘Adobe PDF’ nothing comes out, it’s just a blank PDF. If I select the standard ‘DWG To PDF.pc3’ printer, it prints fine.
These particular drawings do have one missing Plot Style so maybe that has something to do with it? If so how do I remove that Plot Style completely so it’s not required anymore?
I am cleaning up a drawing from another company, (changing linetypes, text, layers, blocks). When i change blocks, opening the block that I want and saving it as the one that is there, the block comes in at a scale that is a lot larger then what i would like. After saving the new block, if i insert it in, it comes in at the proper scale.
Both the drawing and the blocks are at unitless.
We use a table with an inserted jpeg image (company logo) as our title block. Everything works fine when you start a new drawing, however, when one tries to insert the template into an existing drawing or thru a new layout, the table that is our title block comes in mirrored with the rows and columns all out of whack.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up a dynamic block library for my company. For some reason, whenever I bring in certain blocks, they come out way smaller than when I put them in.
insunits is set to 2 (feet)
Here's the weird thing. I created (for simplicity) Block A and Block B. I created them both in the same drawing, put them both into the toolpallette from the same drawing and then pulled them right back into the same drawing. Block A comes in fine... same size. Block B, even with the block already in the drawing, comes in tiny. What was 2.5' when it went into the toolpallette comes out at .21'. A picture is attached... the top row are the blocks created in the drawing, the bottom are what happens when I bring them back in from the toolpallatte.
I have tried created seperate drawings... tried different scales, deleted and recreated the toolpallette, etc.
I am having a problem with my grid lines F7 coming back on, there is no consistency or reason that I can see that might be turning them back on, I can be zooming in and out, stretching something, dimensioning something?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have AutoCAD 2012 and when printing to PDF on this drawing only it’s coming out blank (nothing in the PDF). All my other drawings work fine.
The plot preview seems to be fine also as I can see the drawing OK. Also It takes a lot longer to print on this drawing. It seems to hang around for about 30 secs and then produces a blank PDF.
I noticed a plot style pen missing which may cause the problem?
I am inserting a block but the wrong one keeps coming in. I know it's the correct file. Is it a regen thing? I had this problem using autocad before, but just don't remember what the fix is.

I want to programatically remove the AutoCAD icon coming at the extreme top of AUTOCAD application.(I am using C# to customize the AutoCAD application)
Is there any API where i can show customized icon instead of AUTOCAD icon.If above is not possible is there any way to reduce the size of that icon?
I am trying to model a system of existing storm pipes, where the last catch basin actually has two outfalls: one an 18" pipe and the other a 24" pipe. They have different invert elevations.
I have the pipes set up correctly in Autocad, so that the profile shows up right, and the plan view in Storm Sewers shows up right, too. However, the model does not separate the flows.
Is there a way to manually enter the approximate amount of flow that will discharge through each pipe?
Whenever I type a command all of a sudden I now get the commands coming up in a grey text line (like a ghost image) and I am wondering if I accidentally touch a keystroke that enabled this because it did not appear before.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in a dwg that had broken references. I right clicked on Alignments to repair all broken references. Everything came in (surfaces, alignments, pipe networks) but text did not come in from a source drawing; the Source Dwg is a Pipe Network. The network came in but not the text. I opened the source dwg & the text is there. The Event Viewer is showing no broken references so what I'm I missing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with block selection menu not coming up- specifically when inserting a new block. When I click the icon, the menu flickers but then disappers. If I click anywhere on my screen, I get a error noise as if the menu is open and I have to press esc to be able to function CAD again. The same error happens when I want to print when I click "edit page setup" nothing shows up, yet I get the error noise as if it is up but nothing is there. All of this worked at one time, but when I was trying to create a new block, somehow I must have turned something off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought when you created a tool pallet with blocks on a certain layer and put them in your drawing that the block would be placed on the layer it was created on? When I put a block that was created on 0 layer it will insert on my current layer? These blocks are on a network and I am the only one that has rights to modify them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently started working at an Electrical Engineering firm and one of my many tasks is to sort out their AutoCad system and bring it up to date! An issue that has only recently started happening is that our blocks don't insert at the correct scale. Some of our drawings are metric and some are imperial, and currently all our blocks are in one Imperial file (reference file for our palettes). Is this our issue, my understanding is that when you create a block you should create it as a wblock and each block should have its own file.
The problem is that some of our blocks we want to come in at scale ex/ a 2'x4' light fixture, however an electrical socket or light switch symbol we want to come in at a slightly enlarged scale so that you can easily read the drawing and see where they are located.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD 2011. I am taking an ellipse from CAD and converting to DXF and then placing the DXF into a CNC program (Partworks). When the program is run on the CNC router the ellipse is segmented. I have worked with the CNC program and know that the problem is in the CAD or DXF programs. If you can change the size of the segments of an ellipse when it is created or if there is something else I can try?
