AutoCAD Map 3D :: Importing Circle From GML File?
Nov 24, 2011I'm trying to import a circle from a GML file into Autocad Map 2010 and it doesn't seem to work. Is the "gml:Circle" element supported in this version ?

View 2 RepliesI have an IGES-file 270 MB large, i can open it in a lot of 3D programs, but when i want to open the file in Inventor 2012 the circle-icon keeps on spinning. But no result.
Why can't Inventor handle large IGES-files? How can i solve this?
I am having problem convertin this SLDPRT file to inventor.
I am currently using 2012. I tried importing the file but nothing shows up when I import it. All I get is this translation report with error.
translate this SLDPRT file to .ipt file?
I need to find the center of a circle that is tangent to another circle and a point on a line. I cannot use tangent tangent radius.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.
Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.
What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?
So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?
I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple way to import a polygon from a csv file? I have read about ascpoint.lsp, but as far as I could work out, this makes a polyline, not a polygon. A simplified example is that I want to draw a rectangle with points 0,0 and 10,5 (note there is no z-axis, i.e. it's all just 2D). How can I create this from a csv file? I am flexible as to the format of the csv, but for example it could be 0 0 10 5.
Without trying to overcomplicate things, it would also be useful if the colour could be defined in the same csv file (e.g. using a 5th column, or a second row) and that the polygons were automatically filled solid (as you could do by using the BHATCH command).
The main reason I ask is that I have some cel files containing polygons and lines, but I cannot import them into autoCAD directly (changing the extension to DGN and inserting it fails) possibly due to a weird/obsolete format, however, I can convert the cel file to a csv file and strip out the nonsense.
I was furnished with a .shp file (and a number of associated files (5 total I think) that I can't remember-not in office now). The file is supposed to be a pipeline alignment in Pennsylvania South NAD83, the data imports the polyline with correct dimensions but the coordinates end up being about N-14,613,757 E-1,984,420 and should be about N-334,435 E-1,413,375.
As an aside, we are using Carlson Civil Suite in MAP. My intuition is telling me the problem has to do with setting up the initial geographic system in a new drawing. I am going to try the import with plain MAP.
I am trying to import a MIF file from Mapinfo into AutoCad Map 2011. Which is a data base of geotechnical locations with added log data for each point.
The data seems to come in ok (correct location) but some of the points don't have any object data associated with them. When I id the point and trace it back to the database (originally an .xls file that has been imported into Mapinfo for the translation purpose) there should be a whole lot of data associated with it. most of the points are coming in with data but there are random points with no data.
A consultant working in PowerCADD 2000 sent me a DXF converted file. I have tried opening it in all CAD versions with no success.
I attempted converting it in word to txt file and then back to DXF but still no luck.
A customer has sent me a .sat file that is 297MB. Inventor is grinding at it, but its taking a very long time to open. Part count is up to 4323 open documents and the "Importing SAT Bodies-54%".
This has been running for two hours and it seems like it is getting slower and slower. My concern here is that this machine will run out of memory before it completes. It has 8GB of installed ram.
Any tips on bringing these large files into Inventor? Would a different neutral format be any faster/better?
I open a 3D file imported from the 3ds Max in the AutoCAD but when it opened in the AutoCAD, it full of meshes.

I have been sent a very large number of files for which the world file is jpgw not jpw. Is there any way to get AutoDesk to recognize this? I know that I can get it to work by renaming the world file to jpw, but I have hundreds of files so really don't ant to go down that route.

I am using autodesk autocad civil 3D (Metric). When I am importing point from text file it comes with different scale which is not to 1:1.Actual scale is 1: 3.280 which is exactly equal to 1m :1 ft ratio.
So, my guess is, X,Y,Z coordinates are importing to autocad civil 3D is in feets and measured distance points in meters.
I have several .dwg files from an architect each with several hundred layers. I set up a Layer State in one drawing with just the layers I need. I want to use the same Layer State in the other drawings. I opened the Layer States Manager, selected my layer state, and clicked export, selected a location and closed the window.
I double checked in the file manager in Windows 7 that the .las file was where I had exported it. Then I opened the next .dwg, opened Layer States Manager, navigated to the file location and the .las file does not show up.
When I go back to the original drawing and click Import, the .las file is not visible either, but it is if I click Export.I am working on drawings on my hard drive not a network, and saving the .las file to my hard drive.
I am having trouble importing a field book file.......I click the option to import survey data, verify the survey database then select the field book option but at that point Civil 3D does not alow me to browse to select a field book file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to create a whole load of layers (approx 150) by importing them from a xls spreadsheet into my AutoCAD layer manager. How this is achieved without having to create each layer at a time by manual entry? Note that I created a .las file (attached as a .txt version) based upon exporting an existing set of layers to a .las file and then amending it. However, after saving the amended .las file it would not re import into the layer manager.

Cannot attache through the Import command either. I know in past versions you could insert the file and any changes made to the file appeared to the attachment in the drawing.
Is this no longer possible? Surely not, it is way to handy. What am I overlooking to make this happen?
I am importing solidworks assembly files into AutoCAD 2014. They show up fine after importing them. It says the assembly is in inches but when i go into the individual parts blocks they are all 25.4 scale. Is there a way to not have all the parts scaled up when it is imported?

My work process has been as such: create the file in CorelDraw and change all lines/shapes to curves. Save the complete CorelDraw as a dwg. Open the dwg in Inventor and copy and paste the sketch into a new part in Inventor. This process seems to work for simple parts. As soon as there is text and more complicated features there is alot of points which slows my computer down and makes it impossible to do anything. Any way to auto-reduce points in a sketch or have a better way of importing vector files into Inventor? I have tried importing the text as text instead of curves but it does not transfer correctly.
