I am having problem convertin this SLDPRT file to inventor.
I am currently using 2012. I tried importing the file but nothing shows up when I import it. All I get is this translation report with error.

I need to import .SLDPRT files but when I run the import command the only formats for importing appeat to be DGN. I can select my .SLDPRT file, but then a message appears indicating that only v7 and v8 .DGN files are supported.

My colleague is able to import those files, in my case it always fails even though we are having the same files and the same version.
He has Windows 7, I have Windows 8.1.
A customer has sent me a .sat file that is 297MB. Inventor is grinding at it, but its taking a very long time to open. Part count is up to 4323 open documents and the "Importing SAT Bodies-54%".
This has been running for two hours and it seems like it is getting slower and slower. My concern here is that this machine will run out of memory before it completes. It has 8GB of installed ram.
Any tips on bringing these large files into Inventor? Would a different neutral format be any faster/better?
I have an IGES-file 270 MB large, i can open it in a lot of 3D programs, but when i want to open the file in Inventor 2012 the circle-icon keeps on spinning. But no result.
Why can't Inventor handle large IGES-files? How can i solve this?
I am using inventor 2013. I currently have a IGES file that doesn't show the surfaces on my inventor drawings. The include all surfaces feature is check but still doesnt show all the surfaces. I just recently imported a IGES file as a soild part but i do not rememeber how i did it. Once I clicked on the IGES file to open and then click options. What do I fill out on the option dialog box that the IGES file imports as a solid part and shows all surfaces on my inventor drawings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat I am trying to do is importing a CorelDraw file into Inventor and extruding a few features. The point is to mimic a silkscreen file on metal work. My work process has been as such: create the file in CorelDraw and change all lines/shapes to curves. Save the complete CorelDraw as a dwg. Open the dwg in Inventor and copy and paste the sketch into a new part in Inventor. This process seems to work for simple parts. As soon as there is text and more complicated features there is alot of points which slows my computer down and makes it impossible to do anything. Any way to auto-reduce points in a sketch or have a better way of importing vector files into Inventor? I have tried importing the text as text instead of curves but it does not transfer correctly.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.
Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.
What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?
So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?
I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.
What is the best export/import format for sending 3D files. I need some neutral format files, possibly Solidworks but I am not sure. Also any export settings to make sure I get decent quality files.
Nothing like getting a surface model when you want solid model.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple way to import a polygon from a csv file? I have read about ascpoint.lsp, but as far as I could work out, this makes a polyline, not a polygon. A simplified example is that I want to draw a rectangle with points 0,0 and 10,5 (note there is no z-axis, i.e. it's all just 2D). How can I create this from a csv file? I am flexible as to the format of the csv, but for example it could be 0 0 10 5.
Without trying to overcomplicate things, it would also be useful if the colour could be defined in the same csv file (e.g. using a 5th column, or a second row) and that the polygons were automatically filled solid (as you could do by using the BHATCH command).
The main reason I ask is that I have some cel files containing polygons and lines, but I cannot import them into autoCAD directly (changing the extension to DGN and inserting it fails) possibly due to a weird/obsolete format, however, I can convert the cel file to a csv file and strip out the nonsense.
I'm trying to import a circle from a GML file into Autocad Map 2010 and it doesn't seem to work. Is the "gml:Circle" element supported in this version ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was furnished with a .shp file (and a number of associated files (5 total I think) that I can't remember-not in office now). The file is supposed to be a pipeline alignment in Pennsylvania South NAD83, the data imports the polyline with correct dimensions but the coordinates end up being about N-14,613,757 E-1,984,420 and should be about N-334,435 E-1,413,375.
As an aside, we are using Carlson Civil Suite in MAP. My intuition is telling me the problem has to do with setting up the initial geographic system in a new drawing. I am going to try the import with plain MAP.
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.

I'm trying to update a part with different colors for various features. My color styles are not available in this file. I can export them from another file, then use the import function to bring it over, but there has to be a way to force this file to find the entire "default" color file.

I'm using the file dialog snippet as the foundation for a save as dialog box for saving a new copy of my template assembly to a project folder. Is there a way to disable the ability to click on a file in the window which puts that filename in the input box? The assembly file name is standardized and pre-"calculated" by my code and its a decent hassle if you accidentally click another file because the user would either have to rewrite the file name by hand, or cancel out of the dialog box and re-navigate to the project folder.

We have a couple parts that are linked to a jpg file, through Inventor studio. They were set as a reflection image, from what I can tell. However they are now perminantly linked to the part and anything we copy from it. I eliminated the reflection from Inventor studio, but Vault still thinks the link is there. If we delete the jpg files it causes unresolved references and as we all know Inventor will then refuse to work until they are resolved.
Any way to get rid of this link? We can make a new jpg, and resolve it, but not delete it.
I'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:

If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
if i need to rename or change anything in the iproperties of ipt, im doing it from the vault.my problem is that, when i change something in iproperties of an ipt thru vault, i have to open the idw to update it.
as most of the iproperties in ipt shows in the idw.
its easy to change the properties in vault. but its deleting its purpose if i have to each idw to make sure i have the updated idw.is there a code where i can open all idw and save the same file and checking to the vault automatically?
I am having difficulty converting a STP file (made in SW) to a Parasolid Text file for a customer. I was going to post the model to Customer Files, but for some reason I cannot post on there? The file size is roughly 21MB
