AutoCAD Inventor :: File Size Limit For Importing Point Clouds

View 2 RepliesI just noticed that 2013 can import point clouds; this is great news.
There is precious little documentation on this feature. I can happily index and attach my points (the scaling seems off...even though I set it to 1.0...) but I cannot seem to do much with the points beyond this. Obviously, I would like to make a surface but the Surface tools don't seem to operate on these points. There were no options during import, unlike other point imports, to make them show as points, splines, surface.
What can I do with these data?
We'll get a inventor model of the huge cover . And we need to do a cross check old model to new scanned point clouds.
Inventor is not able to view point clouds, so the idea is to import inventor model to autocad . Do a cross check to point cloud notice the changes and put them into the inventor model . Move the flanges in the correct position.
This is the client mail.
iam not understanding this mail. Presently iam using autodesk inventor 2012 .
what is point clouds?
i know little bit of point clouds.
how to start this work. Client is provided scan files.
how to match up certain points. I have imported 2 point clouds and have tried to use the 'align' tool to specify three points from the source object (cloud) and three points from the destination object (cloud). When doing this, it does not properly align them. The point cloud makes it difficult to select the exact point I would like to align, since there may not be a point at that exact location, but close to it. Does AutoCAD require the points in alignment to match up perfectly or is it capable of doing a best fit?
Also, is AutoCAD capable of creating a solid 3D piece from the point cloud? I would like to take all of my points and make a smooth object.
I've been a long-time VideoStudio user and recently installed the trial of X5 (my last purchased version was X2, but, it's time for an upgrade ). VS X5 is installed on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit PC. If I capture to an internal NTFS drive, the tapes capture as a single ~19 GB AVI file; however, if I capture to my Linux NAS server with ReiserFS file system, VS breaks the captured files into 4GB chunks and I end up with five files per tape. There is no 4GB file limit on ResierFS. I have copied several 25+ GB blue-ray files to the NAS with no problem. ReiserFS has an 8TB file size limit. Captured through another video editing program, I do not have this problem. It appears that VS X5 assumes a 4GB limit on network devices (or, at least, on my Linux - ReiserFS NAS).
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm getting not enough memory (RAM) error messages attempting to photomerge or auto-align large images. Any other filter or tool that I need works just fine on these size files. Neither tweaking CS3 preferences (as has been discussed rather thoroughly on this forum) nor toggling the 3 GB switch under XP (my PC has 4 GB ram and >200 GB scratch) helped. Given optimal settings, what are the upper dimensions that I might reasonably expect to photomerge, either under XP or Vista 64? If its not unheard of to photomerge and auto align huge files, Id upgrade my system. Otherwise, Ill plan the upgrade and wait for CS4.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm currently using LR 4.0 and found a problem with file export.
I have two tiff files:
Tiff 1: 283MB, full resolution ( 2336 x 3504 )
Tiff 2: 233MB, full resolution ( 2336 x 3504 )
Export witht: 574 x 1000 image width
JPG 1: 168kb
JPG 2: 194kb
Both jpegs have 600px x 887px (fram with mogrify plugin#) and 100%jpg quality.
Whe I set a limit to file size of 154kb, I receive following:
JPG 1: 102kb
JPG 2: with error ( couldn't create jpg which fit's the file size limit of 154kb )
If I export the second tiff manually with 90% jpg quality and no filesize, I get:
JPG 1: 114kb
JPG 2: 135kb
So it seems that the "limit file size" isn't really working.Also it seems that Valus between 92 and 100 ends in: same as 100.
I take a large number of event images and the usual client request for images being sent to the press is image size rather than resolution, dimensions or other requirements.
Clearly in LR3 if the client has requested 3MB jpg the easy option is to after processing take my Canon 5d mkii RAW file and just hit export to max 3MB jpg.
My question is is it better - ie image quality better - to export by resizing longest edge to approx 3000 px and exporting to jpg which results in a similar file size, though different pixel dimensions? Or are they effectively the same?
Do we have a size limit of the models using replace model reference?
Just done a little testing with some iam's
Anything larger that 500 parts and the drawing does nothing, no replace..
Is there a way to batch process file size and not image size? Example is I want all images to only be 30k in size, but leaving the image size as is.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple way to limit the file size of the photos selected in LR3 for a photomerge in PS5?
I have found that without limiting the size, the panoramas generated are very large - 1GB or greater.
I've found an work around by opening the photos in Bridge and then in Camera Raw where I can reduce the file size before using PS5 for photomerge. After I've done this, it's a bit of a hassle to get the panorama back into LR3. The benefit of this approach is that it speeds up the processing significantly and downstream with any subsequent processing since the files are just large and not ginormus.
If this isn't possible, this seems like a good idea for LR4.
I rendered an animation and saved it as .avi file. But the file size limit to 0.99 GB so only first few seconds of the animation was saved.
what I can do to increase the file size limit so the animation can be fully rendered and saved?
I can't seem to get this working in 2011... the bounding box for the point cloud is all that shows up. How to get a good 3dDWF or 3D PDF of a point cloud out of c3D?
View 4 Replies View RelatedURL....Until Kate fixes the link to Lynn's page, here it is: URL....I suspect LT will not get Point Clouds or 3D features (PressPull, Surface Curve Extraction, Model anything), but you got to love the Strike-Through Text ability. New DWG format? Kate will reveal all soon enough.
Interestingly, AutoCAD2013 details are out in Japan (if you are bilingual) URL....
I am using autodesk autocad civil 3D (Metric).When I am importing point from text file it comes with different scale which is not to 1:1.Actual scale is 1: 3.280 which is exactly equal to 1m :1 ft ratio.
So, my guess is, X,Y,Z coordinates are importing to autocad civil 3D is in feets and measured distance points in meters.
We are using AutoCAD 2014 and one of the biggest selling points was its improved point cloud functionality. I have been inserting a point cloud with RGB color but when it comes in, I get no color. The preview window show it in color, the details say YES that color is attached but all I get is a plain white point cloud. The Visualization panel is lit up and I can change from scan color to intensity and back. It looks like it is working but I get zero change to my cloud.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to convert many xyz files, representing point clouds, to the isd files. I have found some dll's dealing with point clouds' objects (see bellow), however I could not find any supporting documentation.
Some sample code in VB.NET or direct me to some useful resources?
These dll's are, in my opinion, related to Point Clouds:
AcDbPointCloudDbxRes.dll
AcDbPointCloudRes.dll
AcMapPointCloudRes.dll
AcRevCloudRes.dll
AeccPointCloudEnu.dll
AeccUiMgrPointCloudEnu.dll
AeccUiPointCloudEnu.dll
Autodesk.Map.PointCloud.UI.dll
ManagedMapPointCloud.dll
Does the AutoCAD 2010 have Point Clouds panel in the Insert Ribbon? If it has, how do I put the Point Clouds panel into Insert ribbon?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a small app to create, related to point clouds.
I know VisualLISP pretty well, definitely well enough to accomplish the task.but...I can't figure out how to retrieve information on the point cloud's clipbox using lisp.
I know a little VB.NET; I took a one-semester class at the JC, two years ago. It's going to take time for me to get ramped up enough with VB to do this job, so I don't really want you to tell me the only way to get to the clipbox is through vb.
way to retrieve and modify a point cloud's clipbox with VisualLISP?
I am tryiny to import coordinate file like I have so many times and the Select File box keeps telling me "No point file format match found". I click the proper file format and it shows in the Preview box but the OK box will not go dark so I can clcik on it. The file is a CSv and tried making it a txt with no luck. Using 2012.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am lucky enough to have access to a developer version of the recent Xbox One Kinect hardware. Naturally there is currently no software on the market that allows point clouds/mesh's to be obtained using the scanner within the Kinect.
I have seen that AutoCAD has been utilised to achieve this and wondered if there is any literature or instructions as to how this is achieved? Is there a plugin required that is able to control the Kinect V2 and output point cloud data from scans?
I have autocad 2014 and cannot find the section panel shown in the picture below. I need it as I am trying to create 2d images from point clouds.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.
Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.
What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?
So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?
I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.
I am making revision clouds on some record drawings. They come out all peachy, but when I save the file and reopen it, all of the wonderful little clouds change to jagged straight lines.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have too many paper sizes in PageSetup. This makes choosing the proper page size too lengthy and time consuming.
I only use two paper sizes namely A4 and A3 so I don't need to have English paper size like 11x14 in, Hagaki, Index Card and 30 other pagesetup.
How can I delete or get rid of unnecessary paper sizes?
I need to convert a number of raw point clouds into PCG files for insertion into Revit. I'd like to do this ahead of time, and preferably without having to open and insert into Revit. I know Revit uses adpointcloudindexer.exe to index the raw file formats, but was unsuccessful at trying to launch it by itself. If this can be used as a standalone convertor, possibly by combining the exe with a switch and a file location?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have created an item made up of lines, circles and arcs. One side line distance will control all other sides, circles and arcs. I applied geometric constraints and then Dimensional constraints. D1 is the distance that will control all other objects. I have it working so that when I change D1, the sides adjust accordingly and the arcs and circles keep their geometry.
I was wondering if there is a way to add a range of distances for D1 so that if someone goes below the minimum value, nothing happens and if you go above the maximum value, nothing happens? I know if you make a block, you can make a list of distances for D1 to move. Is there a way to do this in the design drawing? Although, I don't just want a set range, I would like any distance between, say, 8 - 12 inches.
I tried to set some parameters in the Parameters Manager with no luck. Maybe there is an expression to use? Where would you find this expression if there is one?
I am having problem convertin this SLDPRT file to inventor.
I am currently using 2012. I tried importing the file but nothing shows up when I import it. All I get is this translation report with error.
translate this SLDPRT file to .ipt file?
when using the Save for Web... feature there is a place on the Quality slider where one point makes a disproportionately large jump in file size. It seems to me it is always at 50-51 but I'm not positive of that. Here are some results from a Save for Web...
47 = 226.7K
48 = 230.1K
49 = 236.2K
50 = 239.8K
51 = 298.2
52 = 300.5
etc.
I wonder why that sharp jump exists when files grow fairly proportionately above and below that 'break point." Needless to say I always keep an eye out for that issue when saving for web.
I did not know there would be a size limit to fit a video file to a DVD. I thought the premise would be to fit any size video file to a DVD, and the the sell-out would be the larger the video file the poorer the DVD quality.
I got two error messages:
"The miminum size be reducing the bit rates still cannot fit once disc."
"Convert step got some problems."
What are the minimum requirements for fitting a video file to a DVD?
I have a relatively flat shape with many curves on the edges. I am trying to intersect a plane with all the curved edges and do a Boolean intersection. It worked with a less complex shape but this one has over 19000 objects. Any size limit on Boolean operations?
