I'm trying to update a part with different colors for various features. My color styles are not available in this file. I can export them from another file, then use the import function to bring it over, but there has to be a way to force this file to find the entire "default" color file.
View 6 RepliesI'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
When I send a file to Ps from Lr, edit that file then save it, Lr puts that file at the end of the line instead of next to the file I was working on. When you have 600 photos in a down loud, it is a pain to scroll through the photo's to find your place again.
Is there a setting to force the saved file back in line next to the file that was edited in Ps?

He then also "accidentally" clicked the "perform this action every time" so as the warning window wouldn't appear any more. As a consequence there are now files that we cannot open on that computer. When I display dialog with options for export to PDF in Inventor, all options in this dialog I can set programatically except one - something like Print excluded sheets(I translate it to English from Czech version). This option is accessible when PrintAllSheets or PrintSheetRange option is set.
I can't find it in option values list for PDF in help file. Is it only undocumented or is it not accesible programatically?
When I try to do a make components I get this error "Could not open default template file." All the Standard.xxx files are the designated folder and named appropriately. Plus I just used this command earlier today. I did do a "rebuild all" but I'm not 100% sure the problem came directly after that.

I have a couple of users here that for whatever reason have a habit of closing out Inventor everytime they want to close out one file and open another...yes, if they work on 10 files in one day, they've opened and closed Inventor 10 times...i.e. open, close, open, close, etc.
I've seen the project file reset happen on thier stations only thusfar.

I run inventor with Vault. I have a project file set up in my vault directory. Each time I close everything and restart my computer inventor switches the Project back to default. I have deleted every .ipj I could find. Below is a screen shot of what I see every morning. It should be on vault but it is not. If I start by checking out a file from vault it checks it back in because the .IPJ is not set in inventor.

My company outputs IGES files and we always use the settings "Surfaces" and "144-Trimmed", however, the default for Sufrace Type is "143-Bounded" so we have to open up the options dialog box and change to "144-Trimmed" every time. I switched it to detail view and widened up the name column so I could see the whole name. I could actually live with that setup however the next time I opened the new file dialog all the columns returned to their default size and the sort also reverted.
Is it just me or does the new file dialog not remember any changes to it's layout?

I had to change the lens name on some Leica M9 files to correct an operator (me) error, and I did it by editing the exif data with an exif editor and then forcing LR4 to read the metadata from the file. This worked well for everithing but the snapshots and the virtual copies on which the metadata remain as originally registered, unchanged.
I have a problem when I import SAT file of a 3D model came from Revit architecture to Inventor.All colors disappear..I have already succeeded the exchange from Inventor to Revit with adsk file and rfd file format.
But, the exchange from Revit to Inventor is really hard for me.. I could just get gray colored geometry of model.Do you know any way to exchange with color?
When I import a step file, the color/texture of the step file has gone way off from expected.
Before, the same model used to be gray, now most models have got a green pcb texture, and there seems to be no way to correct it in the model/solid properties.
I quite often import hardware models downloaded form various mfg or supplier websites. McMaster Carr for example provides a great deal of hardware models. While they offer native formats for SW they do not do this for IV (not many places do)
Since the [imported] models often open up with default properties, I change the material to something that closely represents the actual hardware or item. In some cases, there are certain portions of the item that are in reality colored or textured differently and I sometimes want to duplicate that for aesthetics and a more accurate view for people that use my assembly files.
In SW, it was always real easy to select just a face (regardless of whether the surface was part of an entire part, a feature, an imported solid body, etc. I could always change the properties of just a face or slection of faces. Since it was a standard pc of hardware, I had no concern about updates.
I have a part file that contains two imported solid bodies. If I select just a single face and try to change the color of it, it changes the entire part. Not what I want.
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.

I'm using the file dialog snippet as the foundation for a save as dialog box for saving a new copy of my template assembly to a project folder. Is there a way to disable the ability to click on a file in the window which puts that filename in the input box? The assembly file name is standardized and pre-"calculated" by my code and its a decent hassle if you accidentally click another file because the user would either have to rewrite the file name by hand, or cancel out of the dialog box and re-navigate to the project folder.
