I am working on a project in Inventor. Long story short, the file destinations got messed up. I was in the process of getting them all in the same folder so that I could organize them, but now the main project won't open. I'm am not the most Inventor-savvy. how to fix it.
The message that pops up is "Cannot find applets configuration file"
I'm trying to update a part with different colors for various features. My color styles are not available in this file. I can export them from another file, then use the import function to bring it over, but there has to be a way to force this file to find the entire "default" color file.
I'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
For almost a decade I'm used to AutoCAD standard 3D coordinates display: X to right, Y away and Z straight up. For some reason Inventor is configured differently: X to right, Y straight up and Z toward you.
I am using Inventor 2011. When I display dialog with options for export to PDF in Inventor, all options in this dialog I can set programatically except one - something like Print excluded sheets(I translate it to English from Czech version). This option is accessible when PrintAllSheets or PrintSheetRange option is set.
I can't find it in option values list for PDF in help file. Is it only undocumented or is it not accesible programatically?
I want to ask if in Autodesk Inventor 2013, can we create a part with a different configuration?
example:I made a cube the size of 10mm x 10mm x 10mm, after which it would be revised measures 15mm x 15mm x 15mm. The second revision to change the size of a 12mm x 12mm x 12mm. Can all the revision is done in one file?And if I want to revise again be 10mm x 10mm x 10mm, can?
Have I been that provides revision always create a new file and the file number so much that hard to figure out which revision. I am still learning Autodesk Inventor 2013.
If I make changes to configuration while profile is "open" we run into lots of trouble including total dis-functioning of the mold design and OS does not recognize the inventor file extensions and more problems.
A work around solution we found is to completely un install the program from one computer while the profile is "open" so there will be no association between the profile and the local installations on all computers.
However, now I can not save the configuration changes in any of the class computers. ( our OS disk is protected against permanent changes and will reset itself on any restart reboot, unless an administrator does them).
I tried making changes to the configuration both as administrator user and also when giving the local user administrator privileges, but with no successes.
I have unchecked resolve file references, etc, and still basically spends 5 minutes looking for files i told it not to look for. Why doesnt it just open the assembly or drawing, without waiting for ever?
How to use different configuration of parts made with iLogoc in assembly? I want to have equal part with different configuration. I have a problem with the equal files. How to use different configuration of an assembly made with iLogic in assembly?
I have an assembly that is identical to another assembly with the exception of 2 or 3 components. I want to create 2 different configurations of the assembly, e.g. 12345-009 for the original assy and 12345-019 for the similar assy that has a couple of different components and/or additional components. I can create the -009 assembly and then do a "Save As" for the -019 assy and do a "Component/Replace" and add (or delete) other components.
I want both of these assemblies to be on the same drawing with a base number of 12345. I know I can do this and create a separate parts list (BOM) for each configuration and put it on the drawing. Is there a way to "merge" the two PLs so that there is a quantity column for each configuration (-009 and -019)? For example, if the same gear is used in both assemblies, I want a quantity of 1 in each column. If a component is used in one but not the other, i want only the quantity to show up in the appropriate configuration column.
I'm creating a drawing for an iassembly, and I can't get the parts list to automatically show a specific configuration's BOM. I've tried filtering, "Ballooned Items Only," and that doesn't change anything. I've tried to create a parts list that looks at the child assembly, and the parts list reverts to the parent iassembly.
In the Browser, there's a lightening bolt next to each parts list in the tree. There are three parts lists/configurations.
The parts list lists parts that aren't in the assembly shown, and/or shows wrong quantities. I can manually update the bom, but I would much rather not. Is there a macro or add in that may be useful? I'll be making many prints from iassemblies, and this would be very useful.
Where is the configuration for the Default Template Measurement units stored? Have tried creating an application options file, but on the clients this setting is not read/stored (still set to inches after import).
Is this setting stored in the registry? Where?
...and why does Inventor default to a non metric measurement unit?
Here in my office we have several pc's running Inventor 2012 and we found out that when a network license is unavailable (the number of licenses is exceeded) then Inventor loses some of its configurations on OPTION window. The fields that are erased and put back to default:
- "General" Tab >> "Load VBA on start-up" is set to false;
- "General" Tab >> "Update physical properties on save" is set to false and "Parts and Assemblies" is unchecked;
- "File" Tab >> "Default VBA project" is set back to default;
- "Contet Center" Tab >> "Location of Libraries" is set to default
- Customized buttons on Ribbonbar loses its icons and we have to recreate them everytime it happens.
have a fix and a new implementation for the new versions to come?
I want to create one Spur Gear in inventor with equations such that i can build more gears from this base model using excel table. For. Eg. I would like to create a gear with 40 No. of teeth of 10DP, and 20°PA, with Pitch Circle Dia, Base CIrcle Dia, Tooth Thickness based on spur gear calculations.
Now i would like to create a series of such spur gears with varying no. of teeth, i.e. 42, 44, 46, 48, 50..etc. Now if i change the No of teeth ,Accordingly the gear should modify its pitch dia, Base circle dia, Tooth Thickness which would be noted in the Equation.
how to create thes equations and use these in creating gear with different no. of teeth.
I have shown below list of gear data for various no. of gear.
I want to open a file in a fold with hundreds files there, every time when I click the open file, the select file box only show the top 10 files there. How to set to see the previous file which I opened before.
So i turned off the "command line completion" settings. However, now I have to type in the full command in order to run it. I found that there should be an "acad.pgp" file somewhere in the support paths that will allow me to define command aliases. So i did a complete search of my C: drive for "*.pgp" and the search came up empty; I tried a few different ways and places (trying narrow it down) but couldn't find ANY of these files.
I have the student version of 2012. Does this have something to do with it? I wouldn't think it should because of what it says on the education site: "Important Note :The Autodesk Student Version software incorporates all the functionality of our professional licenses, but includes a print banner making the software inappropriate for professional, commercial, or for-profit purposes."
when i add a custom template file location under options>files>template settings>drawing template file location>default template file name for QNEW i i get the error message c:program filesautodeskautocad mechanical 2012acadmamg3dim.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs. if i remove my custom template file location and leave it blank, i get no error. its the same thing for the drawing template file location, if i change the default file location to another path, i get a different dll error message when launching cad.
I am receiving this error whether I am attempting to view a drawing file via the network, via a lotus notes database, or loaded locally.:
"Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exist"
The Autodesk product I am using is Autodesk 2012 LT (trial)
The operating system is Widows 7 (64 bit)
I have had the same error for multiple Autodesk readers aswell on this same PC including:
Design Review 2013, 2012, 2011
True view 2013, 2012
I have administrative rights to the profile in question and I have also attempted to use a separate profile but received the same results. All attempts to manually set the file association have liekwise failed. the program will initialize, but the error message returns with no ability to veiw the drawing file(s).
I have also removed/uninstalled all of the above mentioned programs via Autodesk instructions/procedures for proper removal of folders/subfolders/registry entries (HKey local machine and current user) as well as stoping any autodesk program running in task manager.
My next step is to re-image the machine to make the file association stick to an autocad program.
I am using windows 7 on my macbook pro. I am using autoCAD 2010. I can create and save files, however I can't open them. When trying to open a file, a message pops up saying "Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the network drive is available and the file exists."
I need to change the shortcut commands but cannot find the file or how to do it in AutoCAD LT 2012. I had to reinstall due to a virus in my computer and I cannot remember how to do this, it has been too long.
is there a way of find and replace tab names in one drawing file? one file with six tabs named 001 rev A, 002 rev A etc. i would like to change all the "rev A" to "rev 0" with out going into each tab seperatly and changing them.
So we have a new plotter at work, and I am trying to use it with the publish command. However, because all of our old drawings are saved with our old plotter name, choosing the new plotter isn't an option for all of our old dwgs that havent been set up using the new plotter name. Since our dwgs number in the 1000s, going through each one and renaming them would be impracticable.. but having to individually plot each one is pretty impracticable as well..
So I tried to figure out a workaround, by opening up our new template that has the new plotter configuration on it, hoping I would be able to use it to set all the old dwgs that I have open at the time to the new plot setting.. but the printer name comes up as something different when I try to use it for publish, and if I use it, I get an error and nothing prints. I know the settings used in the new template work, I have been able to print it out. So what I'm asking is, is there anyway I can use the new plotter to publish all of our old drawings?
I have created a script file to change some drawing settings. If it's possible to create a button to find the script file and run it. I am running it now by typing SCR then searching for it and selecting open.
I would like to give it to others to use and thought if I can create a one button pick it would be easier for others.
i tried to print a drawing and it said configuration cannot be used for thefollowing reasons: either driver not found or driver has problem or device cannot be found. however i can print everything else except when i am using autocad?
