Lightroom :: Lost Adjustments When Move Images From Hard Drive To External Drive
Mar 1, 2012I moved images from my harddrive to an external drive.
I opened Lightroom.
Noticed there was a question mark by the photo folder I needed.
I synchronized the folders. Nada.
I rememebered I moved the images (first line ^^)
I re-imported the images from the external drive into Lightroom.
These images (other than one that was marked previously with a blue label) look completely untouched - completely original files - even though I spent hours working on them.
I am glad the images weren't deleted BUT re-doing 600 images will be a MAJOR FAIL if I can't figure out how to import the images with the settings / developments I did beforehand.

Mar 5, 2012I transferred my LR3 files from my WD hard drive to my new Lacie Thunderbolt drive and now I can only get the preview and it says the file is missing. Is there a setting I need to change that I am not aware of?

Oct 2, 2012Since transferring my photo files from my hard drive to an external drive(without telling lightroom) I have completely lost all connections between lightroom and the new destination (my external drive). May 29, 2013We are copying our original files to a sub folder to make revisions that have only happened after bidding. We want to keep our original bid documents intact. I have created a sub folder called 'Conformed Documents' and added Constructs, Sheets, Elements, ect.
I copied the files over and used the Reference Manager to repath the files. However, all of my schedules and room tags now use the 'NA' prefix because it is not reading the project information. How can i reconnect this folder to the project folder?

Lightroom :: How To Find Missing Folders / When Drive Letter Has Changed
Jan 18, 2012I am using Windows Vista and Lightroom 3.The drive letter for my external hard drive has changed from "J" to "L". I changed my import preset to "L", so I can now import and access new files. However, all of my previous imports are on this elusive "J" drive, which no longer exists. When I open J from the folders list in Lightroom it shows all my folders with the dreaded giant "?". I have tried to synchronize these folders by right clicking to "merge folders". This did not work. I can open all of these files from my back up folder, but I can't do anything with them in Lightroom. Half of my catalog is un usable.

Dec 5, 2012I had the hard drive replaced on my mac. I did a restore from back up drive to my new hard drive. First LR4 couldn't find the catalog so I pointed to it. Then I opened lightroom 4 and it cannot see ANY of my photos. I don't want to link each folder full of photos it will take hours. Isn't there another way to do this so it finds them all at once? Photos are still located in the same location on the new hard drive after restore. Nothing changed except the hard drive.

May 3, 2013I have LR3 on a Mac running OS 10.6.8. My catalog, cache and images were stored on an external Lacie 1TB drive (partitioned so it can be used by a pc and mac). My catalog backup files were saved on another external drive MXTR as well as copies of all my images. The Lacie had started self ejecting while running LR3 and I thought it was maybe a problem with the cable, as it would work fine after rebooting. Yesterday it crashed LR3 and never remounted. I used Disk Utility to try and repair the disk and it instructed me to erase the disk and start over. I was not worried, since my catalog was backed up to another drive. . Another 2 hours to copy my images from the MXTR to the Lacie (again the drive never self ejected during this time either). So now I go to find my most recent backup catalog. The most recent one I could find was dated 2/09/2012. I am baffled. What happened all those times I was backing up? I upgraded to LR3 in 2011, and I don't remember ever telling it to backup to another folder or drive.

Dec 6, 2012I'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:

'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.

Sep 10, 2013We are facing strange issue with all different versions of AutoCAD (2007, 2011, 2013). While users are working on the file, all of a sudden the contents (work done) are lost and it becomes all blank. The file size is same but when we open the file all the work done is not displayed, but just a blank screen.
It happens occasionally and there is some Automation Error in the command line below. The software is not hanging but the open file is in hang state and we have to close it. While closing whether we select yes/no the content (work done) is all lost. The temp location where the files are saved in one of the computer is become huge around 40GB will many Autocad autosave and temporary files; if it has anything to do with it !

My surface will not rebuild because it can't find the point file originally used. Drawing was used on a different computer system, so the point file directory is now pointed to the wrong path.

May 12, 2011When I migrated to 2012 form 2011, it only migrated a partial list of the support file search locations. So, I reset the ones that were missing and exported out my profile.
Next I saved my workspace to my name and checked the box to "automatically save workspace".
I shut my computer down for the night. When I restarted my computer, then AutoCAD 2012 the missing support paths are missing again. I am not the only one in the CAD department that is having this issue. It is so annoying to have to reset my profile every time I shut my computer down.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Alignments Lost After Opening File In 2012?
Dec 5, 2012I defined alignments and a surface in Civil 3d, then reopened the same drawing in Autocad 2012 to amend some line work (just because I like drafting in this better). When I next needed to do an inquiry off the surface, I opened the drawing in C3D, but all the alignments and my surfaces were gone! Why doesn't C3D retain alignments/surfaces after you've opened a drawing in Autocad 2012? Would you recommend keeping a separate C3D base drawing for the design work, and another for the drafting? and just xref-ing between the two?
