View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any better method to find the overall size of a part model? I tried Range Box method and that gives some inaccuracy if the model have loft feature and fillet on that. But if I use GetExistingFacets the size gives more accurate. At the same time in a round part model with a cut, the GetExistingFacets give inaccuracy and range box method gives better result. Below is the X, Y, Z sizes of the two models with the above mentioned methods.
Round Part (Part1)
Measured with GetExistingFacets method = 129.934196472168 x 126.422719955444 x 25
Measured with Range Box method = 130 x 126.514225996919 x 25
Rectangular Part (Part2)
Measured with GetExistingFacets method = 300 x 300 x 30.0000286102295
Measured with Range Box method = 300 x 300 x 30.4094903224854

I'm trying to update a part with different colors for various features. My color styles are not available in this file. I can export them from another file, then use the import function to bring it over, but there has to be a way to force this file to find the entire "default" color file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
Spent 9 hrs creating a slideshow that I saved. Closed PSE 11 and reopened and can no longer find the slideshow. When I select Find, Media type, Project, nothing appears, but there is a gray box in my grid that says "File size too large". Is this my slideshow and if so how can I recover it?

The message that pops up is "Cannot find applets configuration file"
I am using Inventor 2011. When I display dialog with options for export to PDF in Inventor, all options in this dialog I can set programatically except one - something like Print excluded sheets(I translate it to English from Czech version). This option is accessible when PrintAllSheets or PrintSheetRange option is set.
I can't find it in option values list for PDF in help file. Is it only undocumented or is it not accesible programatically?
I have unchecked resolve file references, etc, and still basically spends 5 minutes looking for files i told it not to look for. Why doesnt it just open the assembly or drawing, without waiting for ever?

I have been using solid body ipts and iLogic code to drive them. I got a little carried away and noticed that the file size was 47 MEG. So I decided to start stripping out items in the model. I stripped out of all the code and all but the initial solid body. There is nothing left but a simple extruded feature. I saved the file and checked the size... 39 MEG.
What is it that could possibly be left in the ipt that would be 39 MEG? I probably deserve this punishment for pushing Inventor beyond its "normal" capabilities.
I try to do animation rendering by setting up the animation and letting run overnight sometimes. I often get the pop up window telling me that "the "undo" file size has reached its limit - Do I want to increase the file size?" This pauses the rendering until I hit the OK button. How do I get that to stop?
View 3 Replies View RelatedA couple of years ago, there was a limit to the part file size that could be published to the content center. Using the new shrinkwrap capabilities and/or derived parts in Inventor we can produce rather large part files. Does the 2014 software have limits to the actual file size that can be published to the content center. 520K, 1M, 30M, 1G? We have some subassemblies that we would like to convert and publish to the content center but wanted to know how large we can make them.
Content Center is located on server with 3T+ of storage possible.
I am trying to export and save numerous Inventor Assembly Models, to send to various customers to import into their models. I have been saving them as .stp files, but they are very large files after exporting, and I'd like to know if there is a way to decrease the exported file size. I could zip them after I create them, but I was hoping there was an easier way or different format than .stp. I could also suppress numerous internal componants, but I would rather not have to go through that task either. In the end, they would really only require the outer shell, with any externally viewed holes still present.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy intention was to convert a 3DS-File into an IPN-File, to use it in Inventor. As I did not managed to do this in Inventor, I importet the 3DS-File in CATIA V5 and converted it into a CATIA-CatPart and from there in an IGES.Then I was able to open it in Inventor and made a IPN out of it.
The PROBLEM: The original 3DS-File had 700 kilobyte but the actual IPN 54 MegaByte !
We were sent some step files of valves from a company - what would be the best practice to make this into (clean up) a useful part to be used in our assemblies. Interested in converting it into a useful part but reduced in size. (Compared to other valves we use - this is easily 10 times the size).

The file size if 17.5Mb.
May need to add it to an ftp site if someone has available.
why I have a part file that is almost 12MB in size yet it contains absolutely no features? I would attach the part but it's too big to upload.

Try to delete all components, all custom ViewReps, Positional Representations and Level of Details and save the file. If the file empty is till very big, then this post might be interesting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to render animations and I am still getting the "Undo file size exceeded" message in the middle of my animation. I have tried every option I could find to get it to stop but it keeps happening. Some of the animations take over an hour and I don't want to sit in front of the computer waiting to click ok to increase the file size.
I've maxed out the size in the settings at 4096K but it still gives me the message at 2048 and 3072.
I have general question about DWF or DWFx file. Is there a limit number of files or how many MB can viewer open and work without crashing.
I have very well built PC but I have hard time to view DWF file without crashing.
PC spec
Xeon X5690 (3.47 GHz) 2 processor on board
48 GB of ram
SSD drive
Win 7 64 bit
Quadro FX4800 with driver recomend by Autodesk.
I have DWF file around 30,000 parts and the file size 18 to 25 MB.
I can open with 2013 DWF viewer but soon I turn the model it crash.
I change the setting in DWF viewer to Open GL or Software Open GL and it work but the graphic is not friendly rotating it missing a lot of detail.
My customer demand to use the DWF file to review the design and I don't know how to support them.
I try 3D PDF it is bad too.
We have assembly up to 160,000 parts .

Our teacher left us with a problem and I can't really understand this. I'm reading through the book and there's basically little to no "how to do" or examples I can follow. We have to do a 2D drawing. It's a Flathead cap screw - 3/8 - 16 UNC 2A x 2.0 lg 1.0 grip
So far I know that 3/8(.375") is the major diameter, 16 is the threads per inch, 2A is the average with external thread, and 2.0 is the length. I pretty much don't know how to put it into a drawing..
Having problems with the updated new file dialog and I'm not talking personal problems. I switched it to detail view and widened up the name column so I could see the whole name. I could actually live with that setup however the next time I opened the new file dialog all the columns returned to their default size and the sort also reverted.
Is it just me or does the new file dialog not remember any changes to it's layout?

Edit/ Preferences states that the fonts are to be found in the following directories:
C:UsersHubert.gimp-2.8fonts
C:Program FilesGIMP 2sharegimp2.0fonts (note the '2.0')
The first one is empty, and the second one does not exist.
This problem has been mentioned on the internet, but no answer has yet been stated.
I don't know how to populate those spaces with fonts that can be used by Gimp.

How do I find out the exact size of a graphic or image after it has a clipping mask applied in Illustrator CS4? When you just select the image or do Ctrl+A it shows the entire image size(including the masked unwanted portion) in the transform palette and I just need the final dimensions of the image. How I can find out what the masked image size is?
