AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Multiple Gear Components Just Like Configuration Table In Solid Works?

Dec 26, 2011

I want to create one Spur Gear in inventor with equations such that i can build more gears from this base model using excel table. For. Eg. I would like to create a gear with 40 No. of teeth of 10DP, and 20°PA, with Pitch Circle Dia, Base CIrcle Dia, Tooth Thickness based on spur gear calculations.

Now i would like to create a series of such spur gears with varying no. of teeth, i.e. 42, 44, 46, 48, 50..etc. Now if i change the No of teeth ,Accordingly the gear should modify its pitch dia, Base circle dia, Tooth Thickness which would be noted in the Equation.

how to create thes equations and use these in creating gear with different no. of teeth.

I have shown below list of gear data for various no. of gear.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Solid Body Made Components Orientation

May 8, 2013

I'm currently using the "Make components" feature to convert solid bodies into parts. This works great, but we use this method to construct angular roof structures, and after the parts have been made the parts have angular relationships to the .ipt files UCS co-ordinates. It would be very useful if I could align the longest edge of the part (Which is a timber truss) with the x axis in the model space and "lay" the plank flat on the X-Y plane.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Converting Solid Works Assemblies With Parts In Different Folders

Sep 19, 2012

We are going from Solid Works to Inventor as our main CAD program and will be converting files to .ipt and .i am. We are moving our file structure into the vault as it is, with some commonly-used components in their own folders. When I convert an assembly, it only grabs the parts that are in the same folder as the assembly. Is there a way to have it look in other folders for components or to have it ask me to locate ones that are not in the assembly folder?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Gear Rotation In Planetary Gear Drive?

Jan 20, 2012

Inventor 2012

I'm not able to get the right gear rotation in a planetary gear drive that I'm working on.

If I make the ring gear stationary and rotate the sun gear, the planetary gear engages and rotates around the  ring gear

but in the opposite direction of what it should be turning.  The planet to sun gear engagement rotates backwards regardless of what I do to the rotation constraint that I've applied.

If I make the ring gear free to rotate, and the planet gear stationary, the gear train rotates properly.

I've attached a mock up of the plant gear system to share and show what I'm dealing with.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Spur Gear In Autodesk

Apr 9, 2010

I am trying to create a spur gear in Autodesk Inventor 11 using the Spur Gears Component Generator in the Design Accelerator. I have been given diminsions for the Spir Gear as followed but don't know how to enter them because there is only a limited amount of values:

Number of teeth........10
Diametric pitch.........9.6
Circulator pitch.........0.32725
Pitch diameter..........1.0416
Outside diameter......1.25
Root diameter...........0.8006
Addendum...............0.10416
Dedendum...............0.10416
Clearance................0.163541
Whole depth............0.22466
Circular thickness....0.163625
Fillet.......................0.03125
Pressure angle........9.00

I enter in the Addendum, Clearance, and Pressure Angle and it says that the values are Ambiguous Inputs. Is there any way that I can create this gear? it doesn't matter about the Loads, Material Values, and Inputs in the Calculations tab.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 / Can Create Part With Different Configuration

Nov 19, 2012

I want to ask if in Autodesk Inventor 2013, can we create a part with a different configuration?

example:I made a cube the size of 10mm x 10mm x 10mm, after which it would be revised measures 15mm x 15mm x 15mm. The second revision to change the size of a 12mm x 12mm x 12mm.
Can all the revision is done in one file? And if I want to revise again be 10mm x 10mm x 10mm, can?

Have I been that provides revision always create a new file and the file number so much that hard to figure out which revision. I am still learning Autodesk Inventor 2013.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Add Multiple Virtual Components

Jun 7, 2013

I have a VBA macro that places selected virtual components into an assembly.  I can place virtual components with different part numbers into the assembly with no problem.  When I try to place the second instance of a virtual component with the same part number I get an error.

For example: If I place a virtual component with the part number C123A456 into an assembly it shows in the tree as C123A456:1 If I try to place C123A456 again it errors at this line.

'Add selected line as a virtual part
Set oOcc = oOccs.AddVirtual(sPartNumber, oMatrix)

I can place multiple virtual parts if I append -1, -2, -3 etc to the part number but I would like to let Inventor use the :1, :2, :3 to keep track.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Applying Moment Load On Multiple Components?

May 8, 2012

I'd like to know how inventor defines the center of rotation when you apply moment load on multiple faces at once. I'm not basically able to define where exactly I need that axis to be. and I dont understand where inventor assumes that axis is. if you take a look at attached model, obviously the resultant forces caused by the applied moment are bigger on the single pillar located on the extention, thats why its been displaced more than the others, but where exactly is center of rotation. I'm trying to avoid modeling of the section above this which technically transfers the moment thorough shear pins on the structure I have modeled.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Replace Component With Multiple Different Components

Jan 5, 2014

So I have been going round and round in circles on this one iam trying to use replace component within ilogic which is fine with switching one part for another but I want a drop down of parts so it replaces which ever one is active the problem I am having is establishing which one is active. So below is what I have so far but the problem is you cant seem to reference a part that is not in the assembly so I keep getting the error

The component named "Flange 1" was not found for example. I just need a way of establishing which one is currently in the assembly but with out referencing components that are not there.

If Component.IsActive("Flange 1")=True Then current = 1
If Component.IsActive("Flange 2")=True Then current = 2
If Component.IsActive("Flange 3")=True Then current = 3
If part = 1 And current = 2 Then Component.Replace("flange 2", "Flange 1.ipt", True) End If
If part = 1 And current = 3 Then Component.Replace("flange 3", "Flange 1.ipt", True) End If
If part = 2 And current = 1 Then Component.Replace("flange 1", "Flange 2.ipt", True) End If
If part = 2 And current = 3 Then Component.Replace("flange 3", "Flange 2.ipt", True) End If
If part = 3 And current = 1 Then Component.Replace("flange 1", "Flange 3.ipt", True) End If

Using the sketch to drive geometry, using the parameters to drive various extrude lengths.

Geometry changes seem to propogate quite well, while parameter changes do not...is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?  Generally have to open each individual part and "edit derived part" to force changes to propgate...

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Create Symmetric Pattern Of Components Equally Mid Plane

Sep 14, 2009

I'm using Inventor 2009.

Imagine a flat, rectangular plate with origin plains located symmetrically down the middle of the plate. Place a component, say a small cube, and constrain it to the face of the plate and the origin planes so that it too is symmetrically located. I now wish to pattern this cube about the midplane and create a total of five instances. I select "Pattern Component" in assembly mode and select the cube. For direction 1, I put in two instances and select an edge of the plate so that the pattern is taken to the left of the midplane. For direction 2, I again select two instances but pick an edge so that the pattern is taken to the right of the midplane. I now should have a total of 5 cubes but I don't. I have 6.

The second pattern is actually a repeating pattern of the first which, in the end, creates too many cubes. Visually, it looks correct because the cubes are placed excatly on top of each other. Numercially, like in BOMS, it is not correct.

Is there a way to avoid these duplications?

If I delete the veiwport and make a new veiport all over again it will work for a single print then will not show it all over again.

I could pattern the hole in one solid before projecting to the other, but the quantity of the holes can change. When the quantity of the holes changes only the holes from the initial pattern are projected. For instance if I have 10 hole initially and it increases to 12 the 2 new holes do not project to the second solid body.

In the parameters I need to set the deviation in the same way as in the Autocad .Net Api.

Example:

FaceterDevNormal = 0.1;
FaceterDevSurface = 0.1;
FaceterMeshType = 2;
